He's highly respected as an OC in the NFL. The Patriots "folks" want him back REEEEAL BAD and it seems Tampa Bay is willing to jettison Leftwich to bring in BOB in order to keep Brady. Either way, I think BOB is no longer on this staff in a few weeks.
He's gone from what I can tell. Not worried about him, just making the point he can likely have an NFL job overnight if he wants it.

He wasn't hired with many openings in the NFL at the end of last season, multiple openings in college ranks this year and yet no one has called. He is not involved in nuclear physics and being able to adapt is elemental to the coaching profession. Believe whatever you wish but to say a fired Coach-GM from the Texans disaster is highly regarded in the NFL is a stretch IMHO!
he turned down few jobs last year. The job was his for some opening, he just didn't take it.

This confirms that the two to three posters on the Patriots message board I frequent are beat writers or have some inside source to the Patriots organization. They called this (with almost certainty) weeks ago.
No offenses to those sources, but that was about as easy to predict as sun the coming up tomorrow.

Im thinking most people feel like the Patriots under Belichick is now a death sentence for careers. It’s why I have not bought BoB to NE hook line and sinker. He was offered the same position last year and turned it down to stay here. I think most people are seeing Belichick as a washed head coach and an uphill battle to compete with both the Bills and Dolphins long term. I think BoB either winds up in Tampa or Arizona.

pats fans suck and they deserve to lose everything. I hope the pats listen to their fans and trade Mac and get him out of that dumpster fire of an organization. It doesn't even matter who they hire at this point, their time is gone. The Bills and Dolphons will run that division for the foreseeable future.

I used to somewhat respect the franchise a few years ago but after deflategate and the spying on opposing team practices started following other teams.

The way he built his rosters, you would think CBB was Billy Beane trying to be competitive with the A's... Maybe Kraft has been a chincy owner?

I’m a Pats fan , have been since John Hannah. We suffered for decades and decades before the Brady/Belichick years

Well it’s like it’s been said for years… you start with a quarterback and build around him. The average for a quarterback at one team is 4.4 years. Bill Belichick had a guy for 20 years. That’s unheard of in modern football.

I remember every Brady hater say “the guy won with Matt Cassell”. Well what does it say about Mike Tomlin winning 8 games with Duck Hodges and Mason Rudolph? None of the people want to have fair arguments when it pertains to Belichick or Brady. But one thing that is brutally clear in the NFL… A GM and a quarterback can make a HC look like a genius.

As for Boston fans… What do you expect? They are a step above Philly fans. They treat their sports legends like they were the brave men at Lexington and Concord and will argue you to death about how everyone else but them sucks

Well… every organization has done shady stuff but when you win a lot people are more prone to turn you in over it. Belichick just didn’t think it would be one of his own.

But as for the rosters… Again having the consistency for so long at quarterback and a quarterback that takes massive paycuts your mistakes as a GM aren’t as bad usually. You can afford a lot of talent that 90% of the league can’t.

Kraft has been mostly the reverse Jerry Jones as an owner (as pertains to the organization) in that he is mostly hands off. But there have been a few instances where he stepped in such as when Belichick was trying to trade Brady in 2017. The feeling has been mostly that Kraft doesn’t like managing a team as much as he likes watching one, but there has been a serious rift between him and Belichick and it’s getting worse.

Some of your fellow fans suck and think that if they just got some 6th round draft pick QB, they could find lightning in a bottle again. They seriously think every single issue they had this year is all Mac and his "noodle arm" fault.

Well you are talking about the same people who blamed an entire WS on Bill Buckner. I mean if I’m not mistaken he was one of biggest reasons that they even were there. @selmaborntidefan

That's an argument that can certainly be made.

He had more at bats than anyone else on the team despite batting third (and according to the legend, he was always replaced in the late innings for defensive purposes). He was second on the team in home runs and RBIs - he had 102, which was 10th in the league (Joe Carter led the AL with 121). He only struck out 25 times all year (2nd on his team as well).

Clemens would obviously be the most important player on that team if you were doing an expansion draft. Boggs would be second and Rice third. But Buckner, yeah, he contributed a lot - and he was 36 years old at the time, too.

He was a bad GM but a good HC - easily the best in their short history. Won the division in 4 of his 6 seasons, 4 of the ?6? division titles in their history. Deshaun Watson expressed his sincere appreciation for all that he learned from O’Brien about playing QB (same as Bryce) at a time that it was unpopular to do so. Though I also look forward to a new OC, IMO, he’s not the incompetent idiot that some put forth. He has a real degree from Brown, an Ivy League school, among other accomplishments such as winning the Paul Bryant college football HC of the year at PSU doing a remarkable job with PSU QB under the most difficult circumstances, in the immediate aftermath of the Sandusky scandal.

i don’t mean to play OB’s defender 🙂but I have a hard time believing some of the comments about the man’s overall intelligence and accomplishments; it diminishes credibility. His performance was lacking in some real ways - no need to imagine things.
