Some of you guys are a little outta line here I think. It is a bitter pill to swallow to finish out a career like that on the sideline watching your team lose. And that's his daddy talking. He acted like any of us would if it were our son.

Give 'em a break guys. The McCoys and the Longhorns are classy and we shouldn't try to make em sound like they ain't.

I agree. I think McCoy is a good young man. I thought his comments immediately after the game were classy. he was obviously hurting emotionally, but he gave props to Alabama for playing a good game. I wish him will in the NFL.
Coach Brown, however, needs to develop a running game so his QB doesn't take shots like that, and he needed to let his freshman QB get some meaningful snaps in the blowout games Texas played earlier in the season.

The UT fans who act like injuries are suddenly not part of the game are delusional. If Bradford didn't get hurt, OU beats UT and the Longhorns don't even get to Pasadena. Plus, Ingram missed a bit of playing time in that game with a cramp, and Alabama had lost its #2 ILB for the season.
Great teams overcome.

So funny, I had a poor TX kid so mad this past weekend I thought he was going to bust a blood vessel. I just used one simple rebuttle and he just couldn't get past it. He repeatedly brought up the "what if Colt could have played" and I repeatedly replied "what if Sam Bradford could have played?".

Ya know, its funny. If you say that enough you can make the most hardcore TX fan turn a shade of crimson : )

I can actually sympathize with Colt McCoy, and though naive, he seems like a really good kid. But screw his dad for saying, "he was carving them up, and he would have continued to do so." Screw him. And to hell with Mack. Although I'm damn glad he's their head coach.

Yeah...I think most everyone here is in agreement that Colt has plenty of class and talent. His dad is the one who has the problem. He knows he can say anything he wants because there are no repercussions for him. Mack Brown can be blamed most of all...because he really did abandon the running game in 2009 so that Colt would have a better chance at winning the Heisman. See the difference in focus? We played to be champions. When Colt had no Heisman...Mack Brown and Texas had nothing to focus on. One month to prepare for a championship game isn't enough when the team on the other side of the field has been preparing for two years.

LOL

It's cool if you wanna hate on McCoy senior. That's certainly your call. I'm just saying that his comment is really not a big deal...it's not even noteworthy....since we all saw that's not really what was happening. Again, it's a proud daddy talking about his boy. I wouldn't care if Daddy McCoy said his son should have won the Heisman....It's his son for cryin out loud.

Ok...I'm done pickin atcha.

Hmm... Let's see. The moral victories against us (moral losses for us, I guess) last year - UTe, AU, UTw. Was there anyone else who felt that they really morally beat us?

I felt bad for him after the game when they interviewed him and I can understand frustration but I think the only carving going on was Dareus carving through their OL. He was "carving" us up on one series? Really? I could understand him making that assertion if he had played the whole 1st half and had a ton of success throwing it. But it was one very short series where he went 2-2 for 9 yards.

I think the NCAA thought they morally beat us at one time. Except they forgot, "If you are going to kill the king... " ;)

Actually, his backup, I forget the name, did start to "carve us up" in the third quarter. I was at the game and many of us remarked at how poised he lookedfor several series Of course all he did was sling the ball around some before giving it back to us, but he was pretty good on those short 5 yarder's

I'm sure everyone thinks that when the oposing team comes out off the bat and shows you what the scout team ran in practice...doesnt mean you execute for 4 quarters and "counter-adjust" when your oponent makes adjustments or throws in a wrinkle...with that said looks like our scout team offense may not have been soft enough or MD wouldn't have hit CM so hard.

History lessons for the senior McCoy:

The Spartans were carving up the Phoenicians at Thermopylae and would have continued to if Leonidas had not been killed.

The Bavarian Catholics were carving up the Protestants at Nördlingen and would have continued to if Field Marshal von Mercy hadn't fallen in battle.

The French were carving up the Coalition forces at Leipzig and would have continued to if Jean Reynier's Saxons had stayed loyal to Napoleon.

The French were carving up the Germans at Cambrai and would have continued to if the British tanks hadn't been vulnerable to German artillery.

The Germans were carving up the Russians during 1941 and 1942 and would have continued to if they had packed some coats and gloves.

The Japanese were carving up the Americans in the Pacific and would have continued to if the U.S. hadn't shot down Admiral Yamamoto.

Here's the lessons for Mr. McCoy: the first few moments of a battle are rarely indicative of what will be the final result and causation isn't proven simply because an event precedes a change in fortunes.

Yeah I agree with you. He looked much better when he settled down in the 3rd quarter. Pretty amazing after being thrown into a situation like he was. I put a lot of blame on our offensive woes in the 3rd quarter though. The defense was getting worn down because they were out on the field so much. I still contend that if we could have went down and scored early in the 3rd it would have been a back breaker. We just couldn't get anything going and got predictable.

Of course we found out later Gmac was playing hurt and credit goes to Texas for not rolling over even after that devastating play to end the 2nd quarter. But in the end Gilbert was 15-40 with 4 INTs. He did some carving but Colt sure didn't.

We modified our gameplan from what we were planning with McCoy in the game and it allowed them to get back in the game. We had two safety breakdowns for TDs, but it wouldn't have mattered, had we gone on with our original gameplan and kept scoring. This year, with a stronger offense and a defense somewhat weaker - how much, no one knows - the foot doesn't come off the pedal....

Don't forget LSU. Peterson's foot was inbounds and Jarret Lee was about to march down field for the go ahead TD! ;)
