Travis and his AU cohorts are trying to assert that since Julio Jones has been photographed in ten different suits, something must be amiss. The implication is subtly racist, and unless there's a smoking gun out there, I don't think the NCAA gives a fig about what suit a player wears on game day.

Someone help me out with this - the Tuscaloosa News described T-Town Menswear as "high-end." I have my doubts. What brands does the store carry and how much are we looking at per suit?

(Travis and his idiot trolls also forget that the players can still apply for student loans on top of their scholarships, which may provide a decent amount of spending money.)
And Pell Grants - and a great deal of it will be spent on bling and threads, particularly by players whose families help out with food money and the like...

Well they were all over this , this morning on the opening drive. And our on Jay Barfer as usual did NOT stand up for us. He said it looked bad for UA and alot of Bama fans were going to be mad at him. I promptly changed the station, thank you very much. Also, noteworthy, PF was asked this afternoon 4 questions and he had to answer yes or no, one of which was was *U going to have vacate their MNC and he answered NO. 2 other people at the station that he asked that were *U grads said yes. Another question that was asked of him was did he think Bama was going to win the NC this year and the answer was YES.

Jay is a nice guy and a fine gentleman, but he's useless when it comes to defending his alma mater. I guess it's just not in his nature, but sooner or later you've got to defend your own.

Paul Finebaum hasn't really tried to stir this much today. He even made the statement that there were serious things being investigated in college football, and this was NOT one of them. I have an idea as to which team he was alluding to, but it could have been anybody.

He also said that Nick Saban is very efficient when it comes to sorting these sorts of things out, and if an infraction does happen he gets right on it and corrects it because, as he said "that's just how Saban is." I get the feeling that Paul thinks this is just so much nonsense. He said Alabama had a little explaining to do, but he expected it to be fully explained in a short amount of time.

If CNS were really a cheater, it's awful hard to think he'd cheat in this fashion.

Re: Clay Travis Says We Are In Potential Trouble

I am not going to worry about this since the UA compliance department has already investigated this matter and no NCAA violations or player eligibility issues were found. Also last December UA Compliance director Mike Ward sent a cease and desist letter to the store owner. That should have been the end of the story. But now the barners and opponent bloggers have put the story back out into the Interwebs and into the light of the so called real media and it is off again. Tide Fans set the reflash watch. ;)
I just saw Clay Travis being interviewed (he was on the phone) on CSS "SportsNite". I was channel changing and just caught the tail end of the interview. What I heard and pictures shown did not look good. Are we going to lose the NCAA NC from 2009? They were talking about this possibility. Are we going to lose any players for this year like T.R.? They were talking about the many suits that Julio had been wearing and showed him in a nice suit with a bow tie. If I recall correctly, Clay Travis said something about 16 different suits worn by Julio.

I am just sick of Alabama being under the NCAA microscope.

Do we have anything to worry about? I hope not! The Ohio State U. problem may have just opened a can of worms for many college teams.

And yet another poster/post that smells a bit. My barnyard radar is going off.....

Of course it's photoshopped. However, with this you have a current player using his number and image to promote a product. Even if he is not getting paid he is using his likeness in an attempt to promote himself using a popular product and brand. To add to that he is using it in a highly visable media platform. We are not talking about someone else making this and using, we are talking about players knowingly using to promote themselves

OK..let me just say this...I lurked on TF for a long time before I started posting. And the reason that I decided to finally start posting was to point out what I'm about to point out now, because our fans are just as guilty as other fan bases of doing it. About Julio having 16 different suits. So what?!? Who says the kid's mother doesn't have a job? How do we know that his mother didn't have a scholarship fund set up for him before he got his athletic scholarship? It irks me to no end how people get to assuming things. They see a player driving a nice car and something dirty has to be going on....please...Not every athlete is found in a trash can eating from a bean can. Some of them actually do come from families that manage to do a little more than make ends meet. Not saying that that's the case with Julio, but geez...It bothers me how people make assumptions about things..

**off my soapbox**

Carry on as you were

Thanks for the warm welcome. Sorry I didn't find this website sooner. NCAA games have never featured current players on the cover, why would they start now.

Did you look at my link. Under the Travis Doctrine, Dyer is ineligible. A jersey of his, signed, is on eBay. I'll guarantee you that some of them are genuine...
I did see it. I've always noticed that Clay has a funny interpretation of reality via his Twitter feed. Whatever his pedigree, his whacky interpretations would make me hesitate before hiring him as my counsel.

Thank you! Post of the freaking year.

To the highlighted point...I found it very hard to believe that a store in University Mall was very high-end. Not junk, of course, but not overly expensive. It ain't Brooks Brothers or the boutique and old school lines from the Locker Room or the Shirt Shop.

Yeah, if memory serves me correctly, the space used to be an S&K that went out of business, and then moments later... T-Town Menswear appeared in practically an identical set-up and design.

Re: Clay Travis Says We Are In Potential Trouble

That's true...he had Tom's Fashions and later Tom's Big & Tall in McFarland Mall..When that entire mall starting folding, everything happened just as you described. He moved his operations to University Mall (which itself is only hanging on by a thread for relevance outside of the holiday season) and set up shop in the old S&K Menswear store.
