I'm in a hotel in Houston. The place is filling up with folks from LA. These folks are arriving with what ever they can fit in their car. Who knows, that may be all they own after tomorrow. 😟
I saw on the news yesterday that the zoo in New Orleans sent all their animals here. Did you trailer a giraffe over? :)

Takes a while to load, but live cams of South LA, including Grand Isle - from storm chasers.

The cam on Grand Isle is showing close to peak surge they will get right now.

Hunker down everyone. Katrina is apparently throwing herself a Sweet 16 party, and that’s not a good thing. I have relatives in Pass Christian and Gulfport. They never leave.

Anybody else having trouble with the weather channel? Tried tuning in but I've been getting a blank/black screen for about the last hour.

"The Mississippi was discharging roughly 350,000 cubic feet (9,910 cubic meters) of water per second in the days prior to Ida’s arrival. Water moved upstream at a rate of 40,000 cubic feet (1,132 cubic meters) per second. That’s a staggering amount of water to turn around. Ida is expected to push 16 feet (about 5 meters) of storm surge inland, with the highest inundation covering an area from the petrochemical hub of Port Fourchon to the mouth of the Mississippi. The turnaround of the river is indicative of how powerful that surge has been."
