I would hope that Bama would go at least 1 game more than whatever the NCAA says is sufficient. Our stds should be higher than the minimum.

I'd just like to do a little compare and contrast ....

Alabama - proactive about investigating and reporting violations. If Bama was into nefarious behavior this would have never been reported.

barn - deny, deflect, and lawyer up; do everything possible to keep an academic and athletic cheater on the field; erect a statue and proudly proclaim him a "barn man"

Next time, go to your local Baptist minister and tell him a player needs help...the NCAA will never touch that. I have legitimately helped athletes go home for funerals, get assistance for their families, etc...no matter what the school.

I also think the NCAA needs to relax...coaches are friends and they help players more than you know when there is need. Any human would do the same....

The fact that they've done those things and only a small minority seem to hold him in low regard tells you all you need to know about their attitude towards cheating.

If it is true that all Harris was trying to do was help him out I hope he can get out of this with a reprimand and suspension or some kind of probation (and like someone else suggested an "extensive exam on NCAA rules").

If anything the NCAA needs to come out & praise Bama for being "Proactive" of the situation when the problem was found out about by our Compliance Department, and the NCAA should tell the rest o college football, this is exactly how such situations should be handled by all schools, when problems like this arise of improper loans made to student athletes..I'm so very proud of how Coach Saban & his staff handled this, this is a prime example of how clean of a program Coach Saban runs our Football Program..

Nick Saban and the REC just formulated this event to serve up penitence for DJ Fluker's heinous violation of NCAA rules under direct knowledge of Nick Saban. They'll give up HaHa for a few meaningless games and all their problems will go away!

If people think Kentucky, Arkansas, and Tennessee are meaningless then I imagine they'll just give us a mulligan if we lose one of them right?

I think what really bothers me is the way Coach Harris handled this entire situation. He knew better. He's a coach - a mentor to these young men. Additionally, you can't tell me that Coach Saban doesn't care about his players. While he may convey a "gruff demeanor" to some, I seriously doubt he'd turn his back on a player in need. So, why not take the problem directly to Coach Saban and seek a "legitimate" solution?

This is probably going to be very unpopular, but if I were CNS, Harris and Clinton-Dix would be dismissed. I know a lot of people are going to cry "step off the ledge", call me Chicken Little, and "dislike" this post, but something has to be done to show that this absolutely will not be tolerated. I know all the arguments that the NCAA should allow small stipends, and maybe there should be even be a program to help players that are in a bind, but there isn't. Until the rules are changed, this is not allowed, and the players and coaches know this. They jeopardized the entire football program over a couple of hundred dollars.

It sucks that he was robbed, and I feel for him because my apartment was broken into and I was robbed when I was school. I had to sell my Gibson Les Paul to pay my rent and car payment. It sucked. It sucked bad, and I miss that guitar to this day, but sometimes you have to suck it up and do what you have to do.

You can sell something, pawn something, or borrow it from a family member or a teammate, but getting it from a coach is the absolute worst thing you could possibly do.

I'm sorry, but this is how I feel. It seems like Ha Ha is a good kid, but this is a terrible decision by a coach and a player that could possibly affect the everybody on the team. Even if it doesn't, and the NCAA doesn't punish the school severely, I would do it to show everyone that it doesn't matter if you on the scrub team or a future 1st rounder, that this will not be tolerated.
