I see you (Auburn) hiding in the weeds. Thoughts on Iron Bowl 2023

I'm not "sitting back in my chair confident in the offense" like I was with Tua (wow what a feeling that was) but every game (now two in a row) that I see JM and CTR and the offense seemingly inventing themselves and making other defenses look silly I'm feeling more and more confident.

If we are playing like we were back in the middle of the season, I'd be terribly nervous about the upcoming Auburn game.

I can guarantee you that folks in Auburn and Athens are feeling terribly uncomfortable that the Bama offense has found itself and is functioning at the level we've seen the last two weeks.
We've averaged 47.75 points per game for the last 4 games. 41.6 points per 3 games, not counting the Mocs.

Best FB quote from a Barner last night: "Well, we got our LaMonroe loss out of the way as we begin the new dynasty."

We live rent-free in their minds even when they lose to a non-conference school!
Yep, I guess it’s their coping mechanism, comparing Freeze to Saban.

I have no doubt that the barn yakked up a hairball today because they spent this week (and maybe last) preparing for us.

If so, they spent little to no time on NMS, and lost as a result. And I don’t think they care.

So long as they beat us, today's embarrassing loss will be nothing more than an afterthought, if even that.

More likely, getting skull drug by New Mexico State is an indication of how much The Rev is putting into next week’s game.

While I admit to taking some joy in NMS drumming the barn, I also think it means only that they will be more prepared come Saturday.

We have the better team. That doesn’t mean it’ll be anything less than a war.
My question is did they put in anything anywhere. This wasn’t a last second kick or anything down to the wire. This was a thorough tail kicking. It will be a war probably, so was WW2 until we dropped those bombs. it could be over by halftime. I may even find tickets to go over to Destin and watch Bama basketball with my boys.

Most major college football programs are followed by at least one fansite that allows public browsing of articles, news and discussion about their team. Does AU still have one?

Because I'm really craving a big bowl of Schadenfreude today.
FB is about as big of an open book as you'll find on the Barners.

I've seen a few more post and they are upset about the officiating (yeah, the officials is why the got beat 21 points), but they also believe Auburn's game plan was to win by being "vanilla."

I think somebody said it best. Auburn got snookered thinking the Arkansas win was because Auburn had improved when all along the Pigs just gave up in the game.

Even at this point, it seems some of them think they are better than what they really are.

Auburn will hang tough for the first half, even after the NM State debacle yesterday. Then they’ll fold like a cheap tent in the second half.

But; you have to hand it to Freeze, never one to miss a recruiting opportunity:

CNS inherited a roster built during probation that was riddled with issues that hadn’t ever addressed at any point in those players careers at UA. There was no portal to jump in and overhaul the roster. Tell your friend we appeared in the SEC title game the next year fresh off a 12-0 regular season. I’ll wait and see what happens next.
