I’m surprised that there aren’t any mechanisms in place to stop a departing coach from emptying the cupboards on the way out.

I’m not surprised by Banks heading to Texas. I believe that his “home” (the state not the university). However I am surprised it happened AFTER most indications were he was staying. I’m sure if this was an “11th hour” thing, CNS can’t be real pleased by it.

Edit: Correction- he wasn’t “born and raised” in Texas. I believe he is originally from or grew up in Pacific Northwest but considered Texas home. Of course a 3 year, $3 million + contract could make me feel at home just about anywhere.

I'm pretty angry at Sark at this stage. Saban gave him a chance on two different occasions when his career was in danger of falling completely apart. And he repays him by taking 5 or 6 other assistant coaches on his way out the door to a new job? I had heard Banks was staying and today is the first I've heard of Golding thinking about going with him. I've gone from "Thanks, Coach, wish you good luck out there" to "I hope you are all canned within three years". If they start messing with current commits and recruits, he is dead to me.

Sark is not a choir boy guys and I don't know why he is afforded any additional respect other than he is an excellent offensive coordinator. He will get to Texas, smell the poison, and be unable to hold off the pressure to win at any costs. It's a dark prognostication but one grounded in his past. Hope I'm wrong but the ability to change spots requires incredible fortitude.

At least with some it's not panic but disappointment with Sarkisian which is really not that important as well as an honest assessment of the effects of losing certain types of coaches which matters. Sure, Saban will replace them but it's more work and sometimes it's not with comparable people. Reportedly he is upset -- there is a reason for it.

But yes, Bama will roll on, just will likely be a lot harder in Texas.

Recently, Mike Locksley has been the only one who has left honorably. At least Sark did a great job in his last game - he sure had the advantage of a wonderful roster that Saban had evaluated, assembled and developed.
I'm not blaming Sark unless / until we know he is poaching. For all we know he has really great working relationship with these guys and they see it as an opportunity to work under another genius.

IOW, let's not blame Sark or call him dishonorable until we know that's the case.

Saban is reportedly upset with the Banks hire. But it is only a report from a few unofficial sources. Nevertheless, it could be that SS has stepped over the line that Saban thinks exists since he has made it clear in the past that he does not think HCs taking his staff on the way out is kosher unless it is an upgrade. Others are supposedly also in play. It could be that no one wants to stay but SS could have handled it in such a way that his staff was not a landing place for them. Obviously, he has not.

Don't mean to make that big of a deal out of it but as I stated earlier, I'm just disappointed, thinking that he would do the right thing. CNS will get adequate replacements. I don't like to be critical of people and like to always give them the benefit of the doubt. If indeed Saban is upset, that doubt for me is removed. But it's likely no big deal for the program.

If the reports of Saban's being upset are proven false, I am wrong.

Where is the "panic" that some are posting about? Maybe I'm mis-reading these comments. I just don't sense any panic in the comments on this thread.

Sark is a big loss; but I think O'Brien will do fine.
Losing Flood hurts; but Stoutland will more than make up for that.
Banks? We'll miss his recruiting in TX; but that can be overcome.
Golding? Addition by subtraction??? ;)

We've been talking about 2 confirmed and 1 maybe. Who are the others?

Obviously Sark doesn't realize Pelini is available. 😉

Hahahaha, yeah, this always seems to happen. Sark and the other coaches have done a great job for us the last few years, and I thank them and wish them well. However, as soon as they do things that weaken my university's program, I start hoping they lose every game. Take a few coaches with you as you leave...I hope you lose to Iowa St. next year. Take a recruit away from us...I hope you lose to OU. Hahaha, it doesn't take long before they are just like everyone else out there.
