Re: Jeremy Elder arrested.

I think that if he really is guilty of something this serious, he will have to be dismissed by not only Saban, but also the entire University of Alabama.

Doesn't the Code of Student Conduct say that if you are convicted of any kind of felony while enrolled you are automatically expelled from the University? I know UAB has that clause but I'm not sure about UA.
Just my guess, but I figure Coach Saban will act swiftly on this one and dismiss him. Unless there is some HUGE mistake in identity, he is gone. I guess that's one way to free up a scholly. :( I hate it for the kid because he just threw away not only a college education and a spot on the Alabama football team, but he will likely serve significant jail time. I hate when stuff like this happens.

You obviously missed at least part of the point of the Fulmer cup. It's not necessarily what one player does...it's the actions of several teammates, suggesting a team philosophy of breaking the law, together with Fulmer's unwillingness to penalize the offenders.
I believe UT players have been arrested for Rape, and A&B charges which are violent crimes.

Saban's hands are probably tied on this matter. I hate it for Coach because he's probably at his lakehouse in Georgia trying to relax and he gets hit with this just when he winds down some.

It could be a case of mistaken identity (UA cops are just one step up from mall secruity guards) but if Elder really did this he'll serve at least 2-3 years actual prison time, in addition to probation, fines, restitution, etc etc.

Re: Jeremy Elder arrested.

Unless this is a massive case of identify mistake, you can say goodbye to Elder. He's going to be heading to prison, and it's not even a question for Saban to make a decision on. A judge and a jury will take control of this one.

As for a football impact, I guess this means another one bites the dust in terms of the overall limit of 85 scholarships. If there is a positive, it is that.

The victim/ witness will I.D. the offender and I'm sure there is no doubt about the idenity since he is a UA football player. Besides, how many 6'4 b/m's are on the UA campus? Much less walking around the rest of society?

Know what you are saying, but it is a rather hollow positive when the program is embarrassed and a young man throws away opportunity. We would rather have the scholarship problem.

I hate to hear this. IF he is guilty, he literally just threw his life away for nothing. I hope its a case of mistaken identity.

Hopefully it is mistaken identity. Then you have to ask the question, "What was he thinking (if he did it)? and the normal answer would be "He wasn't."

What a potential waste of a life, education, reputation, etc. All other members of the team take note!

Univeristy of Alabama Police are trained law enforcement officers and are graduates of the Law Enforcement Academy the same as city officers.
Before you insult the UAPD again, check your facts. :BigA:
