Re: Johnny Manziel investigated by NCAA

It really depends on who buys them. aTm and the Manziels have enough money to stop this.
There it is. AU had enough coin to do laps around the NCAA. It really was a joke and you know that gelding Slive has no interest in pursuing this so it goes nowhere. I was actually shocked that Oregon got hit so it is not totally out the realm of possibility, but I'd say it is 5% change Fooseball loses ANY eligibility. If he does it will be 2 games or less.

Well, they may truly not be for sale - if I've read correctly, CT (where this recording was allegedly made) is a two-party recording state, meaning both parties being recorded have to be aware of being taped. IANAL, but assuming that's true I'd think if this tape got out of the broker's hands he'd be opening himself up to some serious litigation, and Manziel's family has almost certainly already made him aware of their plans should he sell it.
Yes, it's pretty clear they're closing ranks on this matter. Got to think that the guy with the video(s) has a price, regardless. Whether it's paid by TMZ or an A&M alumnus, he don't care.

Maybe the PTB at aTm can get JM one of those 24 hour suspensions. :)

Re: Johnny Manziel investigated by NCAA

The NCAA will get's it's info from the media. They are it's investigating arm. The good (or bad) thing is that they will do an anal probe to the tonsils on this and the NCAA just has to let the press do their dirty work for them.
Correct me if I'm wrong somebody, but no matter what the media reports, doesn't the NCAA need somebody to actually talk to them before they can do anything? If so, I don't see this going anywhere, as both the broker in Miami and the one in Connecticut are pointedly refusing to talk to the NCAA.

No. They have no trouble using hearsay. What they have a problem with is very good lawyers who threaten them in very expensive terms.

It's not like the NCAA will just take a respected ESPN reporter's word for having seen the video, or taking the word of a secret witness...oh wait....

Anyway, they will decide what they want to do, and then build the justification to support it...

Re: Johnny Manziel investigated by NCAA

If I was A&M, I'd head this off by suspending him for the first two games of the season. No way this becomes anything. It's just like the Cam thing. Manziel is a cash cow for everybody involved. The NCAA wants him in the game against Alabama. CBS wants him in the game against Alabama. ESPN wants him in the game against Alabama. Just think how much money and exposure is at stake here.
The only problem with this is...would you want JF to play his 1st game of the season against us? We have a quality game and then a week off with the best coach in the world at preparing for a game like this. Could be worse than they could have imagined...

Aubren hd 4 players go on TV and say they were paid while at aubren. But thye wouldn't talk to the NCAA. Nothing happened, same here, if no one talks nothing happens.

Based upon the info out now, it appears that he did it. Do you think that TAM acts with integrity and sits Manziel, regardless of what the ncaa comes up with, or do they help cover it up?

If it was Bama, I would want them to sit him. The integrity of the university is more important than one player.

Agree - I've always supported the University when it acted proactively in these situations. Opposing fans cast aspersions all day long, but we know the University is doing things the Right Way.

I guess we'll see if the Aggie Code of Honor is something they truly believe or just something they say: "An Aggie does not lie, cheat or steal, or tolerate those who do.”

A&M rightfully requires evidence in making such an important decision. The right decision will be made based on legal evidence. Unless you trust Joe Schadd beyond reproach.

Of course you do. Without Manziel, you win 5 games next year.
