The running game is truly pathetic right now...we are big but, as a whole, probably the least athletic, slow afoot group I have seen in a long time. Scares me to think about this weekend....
I gotta start walking with my wife in the evenings. They look pretty athletic to me.......boy that hurt to admit.

Welcome to all the Arkansas fans!:BigA:

This is one Bama fan looking forward to a great matchup with your Hogs. I think you guys have a really good team with the defense being the only real question mark. And I could say the same for our Bama team. Our offense is potent (more so than last year) and our defense is still quite good, just not as dominant as last year (at least so far). Either that or CNS has played a fairly vanilla defense these first three games.

I've not seen but maybe two halves of two of your games, so I can't comment too much on that or the differences between the two.

I do like Bama's chances but like most reasonable fans, have my concerns. Here's to a great, clean, injury-free game Saturday!

Welcome FTporker! And welcome back SwineFlew!

I'm looking forward to a great game Saturday. Bama will NOT take Arky lightly; Bama will need a great effort to get out of Fayetteville with a win.

The Hogs will have to get a running game going to have a chance. I was watching the "Bobby Petrino Show" last night and they did a segment on the O line. They said that Arkansas has the 2nd largest O line in the SEC. Didn't say whose was bigger (I suspect yours), but these guys are big and atletic. I really don't understand how they can't move people off the ball....Tennessee Tech, Louisiana Monroe and UGA. Not great defensive lines by any means.

I look for a long day against your D front. I hope we can run enough to keep your boys from pinning their ears back and coming after Mallett.
One problem, and I'm not saying it's yours at all, is that there are two very different blocking techniques for passes and runs. For the Shula years, our OL were being taught run blocking using pass blocking techniques. At one point along the dark Shula years, I talked with an old friend, an all-pro OG from Bama. He couldn't believe that we were trying to run block using the "bucket-step" technique. It's hard for OL to shift gears from one to the other. As I said, I have no idea if this is behind your running game problems, but it certainly was ours...

It's hard to push forward when your first step is backwards.

Eh, maybe that one's not so good. ;)
Who is Pink Floyd? :p

Just kidding, but I do not think I have ever listened to one of their songs.
LOL! Pink Floyd is my favorite band of all time. Got redneck Floyd tats to prove it lol! The songs off the album "Animals", which happens to be the first Floyd album I ever bought, "Pigs" and "Pigs On The Wing", will have a new meaning to me from now on when I hear them lol!!!

Of course when Bama gets thru with them Saturday they will feel like they are on the "Dark Side Of The Moon"!!!

Jessica, led a sheltered life have we? ;)

I don't think any Bama fan who has an ounce of football knowledge can truthfully say this game will be a cakewalk.
I can! RTR they punt three times more and have an extra turnover. Bama by 20!!

Arkansas does not have a qaulity running back this year. It's that simple. Green is big but slow. Wingo has a ton of potential but he likes to run east and west. That's the problem with the hawg running game. JMO.

Getting a bit off topic, but...

Every time Bucket-Step Bob comes up, it seems to make me that much angrier with Mike Shula. Yes, it was poor coaching on Connelly's part to insist on implementing a run-blocking technique that was designed specifically for a pass-heavy one-back scheme (that contained about five or six running plays total, most of them draws), but it was even poorer managment on Shula's part to (a) keep a guy like that on board to begin with and (b) not immediately replace him with a different coach/different philosophy when we saw the kind of returns he was yielding.

But I digress....I'm glad those years are well behind us.
