At this point in his career he has surpassed Brady at the same point in just about every category.
Yeah but Brady never had a HOF TE at his disposal at this point of his career either. The truly remarkable thing about Brady is what he didnt have for most of his career. His best running back was Corey Dillion, his best receiver was an aging Randy Moss. Mahomes's offense is better by a landslide compared to what Brady had 90% of his time at the Patriots.

Mahomes might pass Brady as the GOAT but he hasnt yet. There is way too much of a career of dominance that he is still chasing. Even Brady in 2007 wasnt close to passing Montana. I think people obsess on wanting to witness "the next Goat" talk after the GOAT retires that they dont truly appreciate what they actually just witnessed. I mean... if and when Kirby wins another title in the next 3 years I guarantee you that the argument will be made by many that he is the next goat.

I mean it definitely means more than nothing. You don't win 2 MVPs simply because people like you. No awards are perfect but its not like you can have a bad season and win MVP. And he's now done it twice.

He's not a RB playing QB. It's just absurd to argue that still.
Lamar isnt Milroe, but he isnt this top 5 quarterback in the league like everyone and their mother wants to make him out to be. Both years he won the MVP(2019 and 2023) the AFC North was turned on its head because there was a major injury with his primary competition and a rebuild by his secondary competition. When the AFC North is up... he and the Ravens a mediocre. When the AFC North is down he is the talk of the town until January.

The Steelers, Browns, and Bengals defense LOVE playing Lamar. He has a very difficult time beating the three. However this year, the steelers are firing offensive coaches mid year and both the Bengals and Browns lose their starting quarterbacks.

If I was to rank current qbs in the top 5

1) Mahomes

2) Allen
3) Burrow
4) Rodgers
5) Tua

I just see the overhyping of Lamar by his fans and supporters as the root cause of most of the backlash from his detractors. I would say he is top 10, but this constant "He is a great quarterback up there with Mahomes" is just stupid. If anyone has that claim its Allen and Burrow. Lamar just struggles with great defenses when it matters the most.

Tua is maybe my favorite player ever. But I'd take Lamar over him for sure.

Really?

Two opposite talents on the QB scale, IMO.

Tua - pure, precise passer who should rarely use his feet.

LJ - pure athlete, good passer who needs to use his feet to make his arm more dangerous.

But I agree that Tua was my favorite Bama QB ever!
I can never decide whether my favorite is Tua or Mac because they both have similar skill sets...in CFB anyway.

Both guys were just ridiculously accurate. They threw guys open and hit them in stride. They both could also hit really tight windows and make throws at every level of the field.. short, intermediate, deep.... everything was super accurate.

Tua is a Top 5 NFL QB though imo and I'd take him 100 times out of 100 over Lamar Jackson.

He’s won as many Super bowls as the other running backs trying to play quarterback. Until he, or someone else does, that’s what he is.

I know. 2020 is hard to forget, but we all want to because of Covid. But the season seemed pretty easy. We just obliterated everybody!

Only thing with Tua is I felt we under achieved with his talent. Of course 2017, 2nd and 26 is my favorite Bama moment ever.

As a Steelers fan… I was so glad when the Ravens got rid of Flacco and went to Lamar. We beat the hell out of Lamar and have historically struggled with Flacco.

I think Tua reaches a SB before Lamar. I just see this same song and dance playing out every January.

We'll never know just how good Jackson is until he has an OC/HC who lets him be himself. What he lacks with his passing he can make up for with his legs. This was his 6th NFL season. Monken was more comfortable letting him open up all year long until this last game. I dont understand why.

That's what Todd Monken did this season, or according to all the former players and coach talking heads on ESPN. That's been the biggest excuse for Lamar, is the OC wouldn't let Lamar "be Lamar". Everything I've heard throughout this season is exactly what Monken has done. He's conformed and adjusted the entire offense to fit Lamar. So what specifically do you think needs to be done differently for Lamar "to be himself"?

Yes, he did it all season UNTIL the AFC championship game. That's what is so hard to understand. Why he ditched it for one game.

You do realize that Harbaugh completely made an overhaul on his personel and offensive strategy around Jackson.
