Looks like Shaun is finally going to speak his mind

I don't know if Shaun is interested in staying with Seattle

or not, but if anybody thinks he'll make an announcement tonight about wanting to be traded...they're crazy in my opinion. Shaun is way to classy to do that before they enter the playoffs. He'll likely apologize for saying what he did and go on to say that he hopes to continue his career with Seattle. That will give him leverage going into negotiations after the season is over.

I don't think he's going to ask to be traded although his career could explode if he goes to a certain few other teams like it never can in seattle. But I tihnk both sides of this issue are wrong. He should not have come out and said they stabbed him in the back and the 'Hawks should have at least given hima shot at the end zone. It was second down. He's a good enough back that he can convert in one shot.

And I don't want him to get traded cause I have a replica jersey of him with the 'Hawks and I don't want it to be outdated

I'll bet you Shaun will retract the statement about being "stabbed in the back" by his head coach, in the next few days. He is too much of a team player to be so vocal about individual awards.

That said, he was screwed!

Congratulations...

on your first post. Now, SA's statement didn't happen in a vacuum. He has suffered under Holmgren's mis-management for years now. This is just the final chapter in a long, sorry saga. Holmgren saw his chance and stuck it to him and in as sadistic a fashion as he could. Remember - only 19 carries for your star back, going for the title. Yeah, real supportive. I hope SA announces he's shaken the Seattle mud off his feet and I think that's what'll happen. I can't imagine his working with Holmgren for another season. We see now what kind of coach Holmgren is without a Favre. Let's see what kind of coach he is without an Alexander...

Exactly. This has been festering for a long time and yesterday was just the culmination of it all. I lost all respect for Holmgren a long time ago, but what he did to Shaun yesterday was insulting and indefensible. I look forward to the day he get's fired.

believe me.......

if Shaun leaves and Seattle sinks like I think they will, Holmgren won't last more than 2 years. Then I hope he retires so that his career ends on a sour note.

Well, they were bashing Shaun a bit on ESPNews this afternoon saying it was some selfishness coming out in Alexander. The guy they were interviewing said it goes all the way back to his days at Alabama.

I wish Shaun hadn't said what he did, especially to the media, however it's more than likely the truth and the truth hurts sometimes. Holmgren has proven he's an average coach, and for some reason he's in love with Matt Hasselback. I don't see Seattle winning against St. Louis this weekend.

Its truly sad

When a guy like shaun gets crucified 4 being frustrated. He has, 2 the surprise of no one here, been a model in the community and conducted himself with class and dignity despite the treatment he's received in Seattle from some of the fans and his coach. Someone on a Seahawks board pointed out that he puts God and family first, and Holmgren has disdain for that. That's truly pathetic. In an age where guys smoke dope, kill the mothers of their unborn children, and sell drugs, its a shame that a guy who doen't showboat, was the only player 2 go back out on the field and thank the fans for their support, and gives his all is not appreciated by some in his city. Shaun, I have no doubt you will retract your statement, although you were right. I EXPECT nothing less because you are a man who has never refused an autograph request and stood at the Senior Bowl signing autographs 4 over 2 hrs, and has given hope 2 alot of young people. I TRULY hope you get out of there and go where you will be appreciated. THERE Are alot of people on seahawks forums that are siding with Shaun and that do appreciate him because there is more 2 a man than what he does on the field. It's sad there are idiots out there who see him as a glory hound and that's even more sad that people don't appreciate a true role model

Does anyone

have a grasp on exactly WHY Holmgren has a problem with Shaun? perhaps something overt, quoted, or otherwise documented.

The faithful who know the caliber of person he(Shaun) is have a hard time believing ANYONE could have a legitimate beef with Shaun.

What's the deal?

I get the impression that Holmgren feels that Shaun is a Prima Donna and isn't 'serious' enough - he's too smile-ish, and too happy and jocular. Too much 'fun' and not enough 'football'. Seems like a ridiculous attitude to hold toward a player who produces more than anyone that franchise has ever seen, and the likes of whom is rarely seen in the NFL in terms of natural ability and caliber of character.

Shaun was finally fed up with Holmgren who has consistently held Shaun back. This was the straw that broke the camel's back. Shaun has floundered in obscurity, and this title would have a) gotten him a lot of exposure, b) given him something Holmgren couldn't take away, or deny, and c) would have improved his stock for the free-agency.

Holmgren is a vindictive, childish wanna-be of a head coach. Without Favre, he would have been nothing at GB. Without Alexander, he would be exposed for the joke that he is. This move on his part to stick it to Shaun for being ambitious is a total, 100% **** move.

Holmgren has two issues w/ Shaun (IMO):

Shaun does not always practice hard. That was one of the reasons given by the Bama coaches as to why he didn't get more touches as an underclassman. I vaguely recall Holmgren complaining about that and Shaun's blocking during his rookie year.

But that's really a smokescreen. From the moment Holmgren got to Seattle, his #1 priority was to groom Matt Hasselback(sp?) into the second coming of Brett Favre, thus proving his GM/coaching genius. So I guess that Alexander's success has been a slap in the face.

I'm pretty sure Shaun's gone, but I hope to God he doesn't go the Arizona. I don't care who's coaching, that place is a black hole.

Kind of a selfish comment if you ask me. There is no "I" in team last time I checked.
No but there is a "me" and there is an "I" in win which is what Shaun does. His exploits on the field has only been overshadowed by what he has done off of the field. I have two Jerseys that I wear one is Jay Barker and one is Shaun Alexander. Two players who won on and off the field, and the kind of person I hope my kids look up to.

I understand his anger, but he doesn't need to vent in front of everyone. This comes off as selfish. No doubt he's the key figure in the offensive attack of the Seahawks and that Holmgren's a putz...he needs to rise above the fray. He's better than that.

As noted above...

this is a unique situation involving a long-standing conflict with a non-supportive head coach. It's all very well and good to decide from a distance what he should have done, but none of us are in his shoes. Nothing to be gained from repeating the same posts...

Selfish. Ha! Riiiight. Because that's what Shaun's about.

Had nothing to do with the history between him and Holmgren, I swear.
