LSU Fan Reaction

The problem I have is that LSU fans for some reason think they have the right to control what Nick Saban does. He didn't leave LSU to come to Bama, he left to go to the Dolphins. If you want to get mad, get mad at Wayne Huizenga again or the Fin organization for stealing your coach. I would bet my last dollar that if the LSU job had been available again, Nick would have crawled back there and they would have LOVED him to death.
Now, they are mad because they know he has the ability to quickly turn Bama into the power that they've become. Nick isn't an LSU guy, he happens to be a West Virginia guy and he is just visiting the rest of us.
As for the the guy who will camp out on a cot, good luck...the Alabama State Troopers who protect Nick will gladly deal with him!
Finally, if they take his name of off everything you should also take away all that HE accomplished while there! I doubt that they want to do that! Had Nick not taken that job, LSU would have remained a doormat of the SEC winning 3 games. He saved that program and I mean SAVED just as I am hoping he can and will do for us!

I had a couple of thoughts about this subject. I too would have had a hard time dealing with, say, Coach Bryant going somewhere else for a while and then coming back to the SEC to coach against my team with this other team. It's a really weird thought, isn't it? and thankfully a situation we haven't had to deal with. I can understand to some extent how bizarre this feels to LSU people. Can't imagine the case where someone who did so much for my school to suddenly become the "enemy", so to speak.
Also, I agree with another poster that if the choice for Coach Saban to return to the college game was between us and LSU, it would be no contest: LSU. But that's not how it played out. I feel their pain, but "what is, is".

Yeh, but that first recruiting class was largely intact when Saban left. Granted, Miles made a major steal in getting Perrilloux but Saban got the program to critical mass from a recruiting perspective so Miles gets to fight a downhill battle every year. 2003 and 2004 were very big classes for LSU both in numbers and in quality and the success you're seeing this year is attributed to that, not Miles' recruits.
Any decent coach can come into a program that's already on top and be successful for the short term. Not saying that Miles is only a decent coach, just saying that it's way too soon to determine whether he can keep the big wheel spinning that Saban got in motion and whether or not he can keep it spinning with his own players.
No doubt the past couple classes have been high in the "stars" category, but Miles hasn't had enough time to prove that he gets the recruits that consistently translate to on-field success in his system. Saban's only 2-star recruit in his final 2 years (Hester) is a good example.
I honestly haven't formed my opinion of Miles yet. I think it's too soon to say what kind of coach he will be long term for LSU. Granted I think he's proven that LSU won't return to an SEC doormat under his reign but as far as year in year out SEC Championship challengers... he hasn't proven that yet. The fact that he's survived fairly well in the SEC for two years is a good indicator but the counter argument would be that he had what was widely considered the most talented team in the country and he lost 2 games.
My gut tells me Miles is going to be a good coach in the long term for LSU but it's the "top-tier" aspect that is still up in the air. Saban has proven he's a team builder while Miles hasn't yet... at least not at the SEC level.
There are unruly fans everywhere, and we've probably all had experiences with that.
I've been to Tiger Stadium once, and enjoyed myself. Rowdy, yes, but fun. A great atmosphere to watch a game.

When Les Miles has this he will be equal to Saban

what about all these fran post that have continued almost from the time he left until recently. we (lsu) act like the jilted lover - it is only human. If CNS wasn't meddled with by the fins he could possibly still be coaching at lsu. Please don't tell us ho we should feel about saban when Alabama fans have been wishing nothing but ill will for fran since he left.
the program has had a history since Cholly Mac was fired at the end of the '79 season, Alabama has had its ups and down since the '83 season. We still are in the top 15 of all time victories and bowl games attended.
I'm fairly certain this is an Alabama Board, so we aren't coming and telling you anything. I know you've posted before and numerous times and you've been around and all, but if you come to us we will be letting you and every other rival know exactly how we feel. Hopefully in a Classy way of course.

The only thing I can say though is that Saban didn't leave LSU for Bama. He left LSU to further his career in the NFL and the position at LSU was filled when he realized the NFL and/or Miami didn't fit. I don't see his decision to come to Bama as a slight to LSU in any way.
If we are to believe that he was intent on leaving the NFL and Miami then why would he take any job other than the Bama job considering the openings that were available at the time? Was he supposed to take a job at Middle Montana Valley Community College so as not to hurt LSU's feelings?
Also I question the timing of LSU's uprising. When comparing this to the Fran scenario, I see the Dolphins as "Bama". LSU is more like TCU. I can see why the Dolphins' fans can be upset but I can't quite (rationally) justify LSU's attitude towards Saban. LSU fans aren't angry because Saban left for the Dolphins or even how he left for the Dolphins or for anything he did to LSU, they're angry because he came to Bama. That's the disconnect. When Saban came to Bama he didn't owe LSU anything. He was the Dolphins head coach. LSU fans didn't start shouting expletives till he arrived in T-town. To the rest of the world it sounds a bit like frustration mixed with fear. The Fran scenario was more of a "the way he left" scenario. Hell, we don't play A&M so why do we care if he goes there? We were angry because he lied to his players and wouldn't even face them when he left. We were upfront with our feelings about Fran from day one. Saban didn't start getting death threats from LSU when he left LSU, he got them when he left the Dolphins. It's the "if you can't beat 'em, shoot 'em" mentality.
Granted this is an emotional topic but what it boils down to is LSU is ticked because through a series of business related events, they lost arguably the best coach they've ever had and Bama lucked out and he fell in our laps.
The ball just bounces your way sometimes. I can imagine myself in LSU's place and I'd be angry and frustrated and Saban would be the easy target, but don't fool yourself into thinking that the anger towards Saban is justified.
I find it interesting that LSU owns the rights to Saban and not Michigan State or Toledo. I have a good buddy here at work who went to MSU and he assures me he has no intention of shooting Nick Saban.
Don't forget the golden domers aren't in the SEC!

Those two situations hardly compare if you ask me. Not to mention the fact that Saban didn't leave ya'll the way manteets left us. I understand that it's hard for ya'll to see probably the best coach you've ever had wind up with one of your biggest rivals, but I just can't understand the ferocity of hatred that some of ya'll hold towards him now. It's as if ya'll believe you're entitled to a say in where he coaches.
