Re: Jordan Jefferson in barfight last night

I still have a hard time dealing with a "bunch of players outside a bar" on all these deals. 99% of these kids are not yet 21 years old and underaged for drinking, yet it seems they are all in bars? The team is made up of 18, 19, 20 and a few 21 year olds.
The arcane Louisiana drinking law says that 18-year-old can enter bars but cannot purchase or drink liquor. It leads to college kids being in places where there are belligerent adult drunks even if they are just there to eat, play pool, and socialize. It makes it hard for campus bar and grills to keep up with who is underage and who is not.

There is nothing but rumors on this incident so far, the police and the athletic department are still investigating. Don't believe everything you hear on Tigerdroppings. When Les has the story, he'll tell it. If players started trouble there will be penalties ranging from wind sprints to long suspensions. If anyone lies to Les, he will be dismissed instantly. This much Les has been consistent about.

Re: Jordan Jefferson in barfight last night

LSU Head Football Coach Les Miles issued a brief statement at 2:30pm Friday. "We are aware of the incident that took place at an off-campus location at which some of our players were present," Miles said. "We don't know to what extent our players were involved. We are trying to gather as much information as possible to get a better understanding of what exactly took place last night."

That doesn't sound like a typical Les Miles quote :) Good to know someone is finally writing his speeches for him.

Re: Jordan Jefferson in barfight last night

It's been on & off the books twice since the lines opened (for entertainment purposes only), because of the Willie Lyles stuff, the Cliff Harris incident, and the Russell Sheperd confusion. Wonder if this will get it back off
Oh you know this will effect the opening game lines. I'd be very surprised if anyone's taking bet's on it with all that's going on. JMO

With that said I'd be very surprised if anyone misses the Oregon game though. Chances are the guy that was assaulted is an LSU fan himself and wont press charges. Then Les will just discipline within.

The team is made up of 18, 19, 20 and a few 21 year olds. Why is the entire group of 21 year olds hanging in bars? Seems the coaches need to lay down a no bar rule. Caught there, your suspended, period. No more kissie, kissie. I am retired military. I can well remember the days when 18, 19 year olds could get beer in the enlisted clubs on base. No longer in the States can you do this, because state law prohibits it. But, overseas, no problem. In Germany, your 7 year old can got buy you some beer at the beer stand down on the corner. So, I have seen a lot of young guys get smashed on a few beers and really get into trouble. No difference here. Our commanders would deny them going to the clubs when they did this stuff, so it was punishment too them. But, these kids have nothing good happening when they are hitting bars on school nights during the season.
Also, you're likely way off on your estimation. Most juniors are 21 by their second semester. You've got a few of those who've turned 21 already plus any juniors who lost a year during school or started a year late, which isn't as uncommon as you might think. Add in a few redshirt sophomores, all redshirt juniors, and all seniors and you're looking at probably 60% - 67% that isn't legal drinking age.

A bar called shady's, really? Man, I never stayed up till 2am in college....Oh wait, yeah I did. But in all seriousness, this could definatley be a big deal. I can see multiple suspensions coming out of this.

That name caught my attention too. Just sounds like a place that should be off limits.

I don't know about that one. I'm as big a Bama fan as they come, but if players pulled me out of my car and kicked the stuffing out of me in the street you can bet I'd be pressing charges. (Assuming my scrawny butt lived to tell the tale.)

Well then, you're sane; not everyone is. The men robbed by Janzen Jackson et al., for example...

18 year olds are adults and there is nothing arcane about the law. Most of the world allows 18 year olds to drink

IDK, seems the solution to being pulled from one's vehicle is to press the accelerator?

Who knows what happened, it's all speculation at this point. My attitude is if 2 guys get in a fight give em both $50 fine and let em walk lest one absolutely 'picked' the fight then he gets several hundred and a weekend behind bars to think about it. However a group of people beating on someone shows serious SERIOUS behavioral/psychological issues and deserves several weeks of busting rocks in the hot sun for those types... too bad that's not allowed anymore.

Aubrens may not be the only gang in the SEC.
