If you bring in Maye, Simpson and Milroe are probably gone.
At least one for sure. Maybe both because it would be a damning indication of the staff’s thoughts on their ability to lead this team next year to bring in a transfer.
Haven't read past the 1st page and it may have been discussed already in succeeding pages, but this is going to be a huge issue (I hate the word "issue" because it suggests problems) but it is a double edged sword.
When Maye first committed I was excited about him and he's really blossomed into a great college QB, like we thought he would.
Now, I don't know where he stands in terms of top college QBs compared to others in the nation, but I get the impression he's be near the top of level 2 behind just a couple of other guys like Bryce, Shroud or maybe Williams???
But I'm extremely concerned about how a guy like Maye transferring will impact our current QB room (current players and unsigned recruits). You don't bring in a guy like DM unless you fully expect he'll start and he wouldn't transfer unless he's been assured he'd likely start. He's and one and done, essentially (going to the draft in '24), so what does that say to the true Freshman Ty Simpson, who is expected to compete for the job next year and maybe have 2-3 years as a starter if he won it???
This kinda stuff has to be navigated in the age of the transfer portal and NIL. I'm just not sure what's the best way forward.
