I wonder if their "fat little girlfriend" has anything to do with this?

He probably hid him in the closet, doing him a favor, you know the bright lights give you a headache and all. I call it good coaching, just trying to help him out.

Really if it was James kid, I'm not surprised, probably spoiled anyway!:BigA:

One story I've heard is that Leach got ticked at him for wearing sunglasses to practice. James said the doctors told him to avoid bright lights. Leach then made him do the stuff that has been talked about already.

Joe Schad is reporting the allegation is that Leach isolated a player in a dark closet for not practicing while having a concussion. It's also being mentioned that the player is the son of ESPN broadcaster Craig James, who filled the complaint initially.

Going to love hearing the spin on this one.

I know people are saying kids are weak nowadays but if this is true I really don't see where there is any need to do that to a kid with a legitimate concussion if he truly did have one. Putting him in a dark closet by himself because he can't play due to injury? I mean I'm all for being tough on players but not really sure how that helps a kid grow up or help him as a football player.

Of course these accusations could be false and we don't know all the facts yet but there is no excuse for putting a kid in a closet because he can't play IMO. Make them run extra, if they fumble make them carry the football around campus or do extra work before/after practice but don't put a kid in a closet because he can't practice.

Suspended from his coaching duties because he made a player sit in a dark closet?!

Seems like a little over-reaction to me.

Talking heads are alluding that Tech might be using this as fuel to finally get rid of Leach... who has had issues with the administration.
I just graduated from TT and the students love Leach, but the administration doesn't at all. There was a contract negotiation issue last year and the admin almost did not budge. A lot of articles in the school paper criticized them for it b/c Leach brought TT football to at least some relevance, even though I doubt TT will ever be a perennial power b/c of its facilities/ location/ etc., Leach was the one that got us winning football consistently a la Brooks at Kentucky. I find it interesting that the player complaining has a powerful daddy (or at least one with connections)...

We have seen stuff like this from him for years. Leach is a child in a man's body. His actions are exceedingly immature. Not sure that he should be allowed to lead men, much less young men this age. Wouldn't let him coach my boys...

In the next week or so, don't be surprised to see Leach and sand aggy have entered into a settlement agreement where Pirate Mike receives a payment of $5 million bucks and he goes on his way (with a nondisparagement clause in tow).

Shortly thereafter, sand aggy announces Kevin Sumlin (Houston's coach) as their new head guy.

Leach pretty much picks and chooses which middle of the road school in a BCS conference he wants to go to (Washington State, Az State, etc).. or he sits out a year, signs on with the Eastern Sports Promotional Network as a studio guy for a year, collects his money and sees what jobs come open.

I tend to agree with this assessment. While I also agree with previous posts that this current generation of athletes can be a bit soft, I think the only coaches you'll see getting in trouble for things like this are the coaches that are just immature/detached a bit from reality. I doubt you'll ever see any sort of story like this come out of Bama while CNS is the head guy simply because CNS understands how to be tough with the players without mistreating them.

Considering the 'tough it out' attitude still hasn't been overcome by the modern understanding of how dangerous concussions can be, if this was reaction to a player sustaining a concussion, it's somewhat understandable. If the coach is doing things that will encourage other players to risk their health rather than report to the medical staff when / if they sustain a possible concussion, the university opens themselves up to far greater liability.

Just sayin', let's wait to find out all the details before resorting to poking fun of folks.

After last years madness with his contract, I see TT letting him go. IF TRUE. He is a real nut case. He is just weird. JMO

I guess Leach would have to kick me off the team. There is no man alive that can put me into a dark locker. ;)

Craig James of ESPN isn't saying much at this time. I am sure he is upset with what happen to his son.

I probably should wait until all the facts come out but doing that is no fun so I'll say it. Kids these days are a bunch of pansies...
Agreed, waterboarding for the next nancy that lets himself ("herself") get a concussion.

Why put him in a dark locker? Is this some form of treatment for a concussion I am not privy to? Was it because the player couldn't play or didn't want to play with the concussion?

I am sure Craig James his father is upset about the alleged treatment of his son. Word has it the young man was wasn't going to practice with a concussion. If True Coach Leach is in trouble. :BigA:

The story I heard is that James came to practice with sunglasses. Leach got ticked off and asked him why he was wearing them. James said the doctor told him he should avoid sunlight. As a result, it seems Leach came up with this grand idea regarding the closet.

If a doctor told him to do that, then it's a stupid move on Leach's part. I hope he's working on his resume tonight because I have a feeling he may need it soon. I don't recall suspending a head coach too often unless there is fire in the middle of all that smoke. JMO.
