OC and DC replacement discussion

  • Hi Guest, we are working on updating the site servers and software. We're also 'forcing' everyone to read and agree to our site privacy policy and terms of service. There are no significant changes to either of these but the terms page does clarify a few things that are mostly in the legalese. You can just click the checkbox for both and continue using the site as usual! We'll update you more on the site upgrades VERY soon! THANK YOU AS ALWAYS for supporting the site and being an active participant!

Eric Schumann played under Bear in the middle 1970s.

So, on Jan. 13th Bama announces the hiring of Austin Armstrong. Also, on the same day, Trezmen Marshall enters the transfer portal and ends up a few days later at Bama. Armstrong coached with Schumann and Trezmen played under Schumann. Probably just a coincidence.
I like this game of connect the dots. I’m on board with you.

Good points. I still think Saban goes with Pruitt. He is by far the more seamless transitional hire. Barney set the table with the sleaze hire so Nick should have no trepidation whatsoever bringing in a seasoned DC like Jeremy.
I beg to differ, all freeze was doing was calling escort services and just trying to introduce perspective recruits to young females that would help them in their transition from high school to college. Jeremy was involved with corrupt stuff like helping families deal with a crisis situation.

Yea, pretty sure that is called prostitution but both are pretty slimy.

Maybe waiting on those funerals to be over at UGA? 🤷‍♀️ Just a guess...
That's a good guess. That's about the only thing that would make sense for waiting. I'm sure he would want to wait for Schumann to be part of the championship celebration. The accident occured and he didn't want to announce anything to cause a distraction during this time. Can't think of any reason to wait if it were Leonard or Pruitt. But I can't understand why Leonard hasn't gone somewhere yet unless it could be waiting on an NFL team still in the playoffs. We'll see soon I guess.

We sure that Leonard isn’t in Thailand?

Okay here is the thing. Freeze was not punished for the escort service nor was it ever proven that he was using it for players. He was punished for not policing his assistants.

Pruitt’s issue is that they caught HIM paying players directly.

If you going do it, have deniability. That’s what bagmen and “hey you” assistant coaches are for. But then again look at who was his first big boss was…. Coosa Christian’s new headache.

Below is from Jess' piece in the sticky above. Never really thought about Lake but do you think he might get an interview?

Jimmy Lake, unemployed
Most recently the head coach at Washington, Lake was let go after allegations emerged that he had a physical confrontation with one of his players. Lake will be 47 years old this year and was considered a rising defensive star prior to replacing Chris Peterson as head coach for the Huskies. His name has popped up in the search, primarily from sources on the West Coast, but we’re not sure just how serious a candidate he actually is. Lake’s resume is split between college and pro stops, one of them under Monte Kiffin at Tampa Bay. He teaches many of the same defensive concepts as Saban, is thought of as a hard-nosed, no-nonsense coach and probably wouldn’t take long to get acclimated to the Alabama culture. The terms of his departure from Washington, however, would need to be addressed.
I don't see how you hire a guy with a reputation for hitting players, fair or otherwise. It has to impact recruiting in a negative way and there are too many other top defensive minds that would be happy to work for the GOAT.

Agreed. Lake is not a candidate IMO. FYI, his background is DC.
