My coach liked to grab your facemask, then start a slow twist until your head was 90 degrees to the right or left. One time a kid resisted and coach yanked his helmet completely off and threw it across the practice field.

How many lawsuits would that generate today?

If I remember correctly Bill Curry did something similar to Prince Wimbley. Curry wanted to have a conversation when Wimbley came off the field. Wimbley tried to walk away and Curry grabbed him by the face mask and stood toe to toe, nose to face mask while he made his point.

Oh good lord, most of the coaches I played for in HS and college would be fired and the school would be sued today.
My sentiments exactly. I used to be a therapist. There is a time and a place for sensitivity and processing your feelings, anxiety, and trauma. But there is also a time to just freaking throw down and keep your self respect.

I'm going to take the poster's word that Lake slapped a player's helmet and if so, it is ridiculous he was fired.

My first grade teacher hit harder than that with her open hand to half the class's butts. Speaking of what will get you fired today!

Today that would cost somebody a lot of money. They would be in the unemployed line...

Where ever there's BBQ, Bourbon & Football
I know the default rebuttal is "Saban has a plan and knows what he's doing" so let's get that out of the way.

However, every player in the 2023 recruiting class has signed their letter of intent and all but four are already enrolled and on campus. So, I'm not sure "he's waiting until signing day has passed" is at play anymore as to why we've still yet to at least get a defensive coordinator in place. Ultimately, when we do sign a DC and it's not Leonhard and/or Pruitt, we may look back and realize that Saban's Plan A and Plan B may not have gone as planned and he had to pick Plan C. There's been too many reports that these two are high on Saban's list as a replacement for PG. I haven't done it yet because I think it is a loooong shot, but I swear if Todd Grantham is named DC I may go ahead and start buying cases of bourbon and get a head start on heavily drinking for the 2023 season. The longer this goes on without a hire the more likely Saban will be picking from way down on his "short list", if he's still on the short list at all. One possibility as to why Leonhard hasn't been hired is because he's being looked at by NFL teams, specifically the Minnesota Vikings, who are now rumored to be interested in Leonhard.

I still get the OC issue as it relates to BOB. The Patriots are the frontrunner of wanting BOB but Kraft is also now involved and he's doing a lot of house cleaning wrt to Bill B and the crap show he put on the field last year. I also know Tampa Bay, regardless of whether Brady is coming back or not, is also interested in BOB so the Pats have competition and BOB has options.

There's that reality, but then again, I kinda feel like it can't be worse than last year no matter who we end up with (on both sides of the ball). I don't feel like CNS would make changes unless he believed it would make us better.

But the "reports" are pure wild ass speculation and wishcasting. There's no offseason anymore and fans are refreshing the pages of their favorite sports sites every 15 minutes for "news" about who Coach has signed as OC and DC. There ain't no news until he makes an announcement, but they have to fill the sites with content. . . .

We’ve heard reports from talking heads…we’ve heard speculation from media outlets…we’ve heard rumors from supposed insiders…all talking about the short list of people that Coach Saban is choosing from to be his next coordinators.

The one person no one has heard a single word from, though, is Coach Saban himself...and he’s the only one who really knows how this process is going, and the reasons why no one has yet been announced.

Respectfully, your supposition of a “planA” “planB” and possibly “planC” is totally built upon speculation. Just because we've heard a bunch of people saying something doesn’t make it true…especially since the only validating word on the subject belongs solely to Coach Saban…

…and again…he hasn’t spoken it yet. Every word you hear spoken on the subject is coming from another person…who has no idea what’s really going on.

The majority of the content that drives message boards is built on speculation. When you have opinions, you will have speculation, it is inherent to opinions. I respectfully suggest that if you're the type of person that doesn't deal well with speculation or is a "just the facts, please" type of person, sports message boards probably aren't going to be your thing for the offseason.(y)

I fully understand the dynamics that exist on message boards…from the content…to the characters…

In fact, the purpose of my reply to you was to point out that it’s not possible to conclude that Leonhard and Pruitt are plan A&B based upon the speculative content on message boards, blogs and personal assumptions…therefore we wouldn’t be able to conclude that Coach Saban settled for planC if his new DC isn’t one of these two above-mentioned fellows.

But, but, but...if it's on the internet, it must be true....😎

Gotcha, thanks for the clarification. The original version didn't come across like that. (y)
