Making a mental mistake is not the same as not caring for anyone else. Most of us can objectively critique performance without taking personal shots at our own players.
Look, he tried to pick up the ball and run with it. Telle what else that could have been other than playing hero ball. If he thought it was touched, you fall on it.

Welp. Like I said, he has an easy out because I'm the barner. You should be on my side here.

Your mods should be handling this, not me. He's calling kids idiots. This board has rules about that.
Exactly correct. Maybe that kid should want to spend time with his family and leave Florida while complete thuggery was occurring, land at OSU and fake health problems all the while harboring a wife beater, resign and go to TV, get back in coaching in the NFL and stay in Ohio after his team left and get lap dances at the bar he owns. Rot and IDIOT for sure. Go Buckeyes.

Haven't read the thread. Didn't post in the game thread. Here's my protest: Defense had a bad game; it happens!

But our offense is wasting such great potential. We scored 49 points even when our offense was constantly in 2nd and long or 3rd and medium. Our offense is simply the brilliance of Bryce Young. We make it hard on ourselves. Really hard! Someone says, but we scored 42 points on offense. Should have and could have scored 62 with a good HS playcaller!!!

Now, here's what's sick. Compare that to Tenn's offense. I can't believe how easy they make offensive football look. They are constantly making 8-10 yards on 1st down. They follow it with a big, explosive chunk plays. They move the ball with ease. Make first downs like it's nothing. And score TD's fast! Remember when that used to be us???

I doubt we'll see another offense like this one, but folks, we're getting the same slow, methodical, head-scratching offense the rest of the year that only works because of BY.
Barrett Jones roasted the play calling a few times, particularly our utterly predictable 1st-down run plays.

Although our defense was very disappointing tonight it seems most every year we have a game where our defense gets shredded, and not just with Golding. We had it happen with Kirby and Pruitt as well so I'm not going to panic yet.

2021: 41 to TAMU
2020: 48 to OM, 46 to UF
2019: 46 to LSU, 48 to AU
2018: 46 to Clemson
2016: 43 to OM
2015: 43 to OM, 40 to Clemson
2014: 44 to AU, 42 to Ohio State

We'll have to see if we can regroup like we did other seasons. Also watching how the UGA defense plays against UT should tell us more.
With this secondary, they will get torched again against Ole Miss and Miss State at least. It will be up to Bama to outscore them. I can't for the life of me figure out why our DBs are so terrible. For all the accolades that Saban gets for being a secondary coach, we have been horrible against decent quarterbacks for the last 4 or 5 years.

Give me ambiguity or give me something else.

Nah nah nah nah nah. Easy now. No cheap shots. His language with regard to the kids is the issue.

Here is the thing about what we’ve experienced across college football for many seasons now. The speed and athleticism of the game has has reached a point where these crews aren’t making calls - they are making guesses. The rules (ie: holding, DPI, OPI, Roughing, targeting, etc) have become so convoluted there is absolutely no consistency. And that lack of consistency show across conferences and even within games (like ours game today).

Quite frankly it is making games unwatchable. Literally at least three times UT DB’s grab, held or mugged our receivers without calls. Then on the Kool-Aid pick, the back judge makes that call when Kool-Aid was almost halfway down the field. So late was the call that even Brad and Gary thought it was a “post possession” call. IMO, calling a penalty is almost instantaneous. If you have to “think about it” it’s not a call. The more you think, the more likely you are to infer something, or be influenced by the environment around you (coaches, players, and fans).

And I won’t even get into the hits on Bryce and the lack of holding calls against our opponents for almost a century,

Certainly we made enough self inflicted wounds to lose this game three times over. And I don’t expect officials, umpires, referees to be perfect. But what I do expect is what I expected when coaching baseball years ago - “give me the same call you give the other guy. Nothing more. Nothing less”.

And that surely didn’t happen today. And when you add their mistakes to all the ones our team committed on their own, the mountain was too high to climb.

non-sequitor at this point in light of his language. You're smart enough to make that distinction.
Yeah and you are smart enough to understand that you probably have better avenues to address that as an Auburn fan… especially after you made some stupid remarks about how we should be happy for Tennessee fans earlier in the thread.

I can't really add anything that hasn't been said, but it's all on CNS. He hires, keeps, and defends both coordinators. He's responsible for getting the team ready and prepared.

That said, you would think the players would have some pride in their performance at some point. If this was a one off thing yeah , they had a bad game. This has been a trend though even with the W's.

Shouldn't take a loss to wake them up but maybe it will.

I'm furious with what he did! But calling a kid's mistake "hero ball" is too far in my opinion. Agree with me or not...we are still Tide Fans!
I never said hero ball all I said was jump on it instead of trying to pick it up. But if you say hero ball then so be it.

Can someone who recorded the game look at how many yards we lost on special teams tonight? Seems there was always a penalty if we tried to return one, conveniently, and then there was the punt. It has to be well over 100 yards.

Oh but they totally changed their minds after the call was overturned. Now they had looked at it 5 times and said and I quote "if that isn't targeting then I don't know what is". The ref then reviewed said not targeting (also while chuckling to himself) and then the cbs crew said "oh now I see where it isn't targeting."
The same play by Alabama would have the player tossed. If it wasn't targeting it was a late hit, personal foul, on the QB at a minimum. Shame on the replay officials in B'ham. An absolutely atrocious call.

That's okay. I don't mind the OSU shots. That was pretty mild compared to some of the stuff that I have read here about OSU and/or Meyer.
