Haven't read the thread. Didn't post in the game thread. Here's my protest: Defense had a bad game; it happens!

But our offense is wasting such great potential. We scored 49 points even when our offense was constantly in 2nd and long or 3rd and medium. Our offense is simply the brilliance of Bryce Young. We make it hard on ourselves. Really hard! Someone says, but we scored 42 points on offense. Should have and could have scored 62 with a good HS playcaller!!!

Now, here's what's sick. Compare that to Tenn's offense. I can't believe how easy they make offensive football look. They are constantly making 8-10 yards on 1st down. They follow it with a big, explosive chunk plays. They move the ball with ease. Make first downs like it's nothing. And score TD's fast! Remember when that used to be us???

I doubt we'll see another offense like this one, but folks, we're getting the same slow, methodical, head-scratching offense the rest of the year that only works because of BY.

Yards after contact for their RBs tonight was a factor...they were met at the line yet got 5-8 yards at times carrying multiple players with them...thats toughness
Yeah, I was looking at the box score--182 yards rushing for them. When is the last time Bama gave up that many yards rushing?

Most points scored against Alabama in a game
1906 Vanderbilt 78
1907 Sewanee 54
1900 Auburn 53
2022 Tennessee 52
Great post. This was not just the worst defensive performance of the Nick Saban era, but the worst one in modern Alabama football history. Let that sink in for a minute, then consider 41 by A&M and 35 by Arky last year, 48 by Ole Miss and 46 by UF in 2020, and 46 by LSU and 48 by AU in 2019.

Surely we can do better than Pete “I Look Drunker than Joe Lee Dunn” Golding.

An Alabama player tried to play hero ball on a punt play at the end of the first half. That kid cannot care about anyone but himself for even trying that crap. That is a symptom of the rot that a lot of folks are talking about.
That is a bit far man. It was a stupid play, but the kid clearly thought the ball had been touched and tried to save it. He wasn’t simply “thinking about himself”. I know everyone is ****ed at the moment but let’s not read the worst motivations into every bad play.

Pure and simple, Ucheat has better offensive minds and playcalling than we do. We have better players, they have better coaches on offense.

But see, I think that speaks to the bigger issue. The Saban teams of old would not have boneheaded plays like that.

This type of mistake is stupid beyond the pale. It is so stupid that it only happens once or twice each season accross the sport.

You are correct. This is very clearly a trend, and a trend of undisciplined play.

The annoying thing about the refs today was not really the majority of the calls they made. It was the borderline ticky tack calls on us while letting Tenn get away with murder. 3 headshots on Bryce and they didn’t throw a flag for a single one. One they even waved off despite him taking a helmet to the face.

Every borderline call that could benefit Tenn was made. Every borderline call that would have benefited us was ignored. Their immediate whistle blowing one of our forced fumbles dead for no reason is a prime example. Meanwhile the back judge ref thought about throwing a PI flag for about 20sec on our last int. It’s incredibly frustrating to watch an unevenly called game, even when we did obviously commit more procedural penalties than Tenn did.
yeah I was really more annoyed with what they didn’t call than what they did. Like I said most of the calls that many are listing seem more of the “did I see that foul” judgements and less just outright stupid calls. Yes we have the gift of replay and position but in many of those the refs don’t and if I could make the argument that “he may not have the position” then I’m fine with it.

But the hits on Bryce were ridiculous.

I'm 90% sure he thought the ball had been touched by the return man, and was trying to jump on it because it was the right thing to do, not because he was out for personal glory. That was the way it looked to me, and it's also what the national broadcast announcers thought. Obviously, I have no way of knowing for sure.
Except he didn't jump on it. He tried to pick it up.

I challenge you to show a specific example of this. This sounds like a bunch of fan sour grapes crap. I offer Wil Anderson's interview as my evidence as everything you just said is pure BS.
You literally named one player. And if you don't believe that is playing a part then your crazy.

I usually respect you as a poster. However, calling the idiotic play on the punt as "hero ball" vice a huge mistake is pushing it. The kid just made a mistake...he looked like he thought Kool-aid touched the ball. No evidence of poor fundamentals. Just a mistake.
