Bama Game Thread: Official Postgame Thread - Reliaquest Bowl, Bama vs. Michigan, Dec. 31, 11:00 AM, ESPN...

You could put every CNS starting QBs name in a hat and draw one and that guy would have gone off on Tenn, OU, and Mich.
Keep in mind, the only QB on our roster recruited by CKD is AM and he's a work in progress.

And...JM was a CNS starting QB. So, I'm not sure I agree with your logic. Perhaps if you said every CNS starting QB, except JM...

The fact of the matter is, today's game against UM looked an awful lot like last year's game against UM. What's the common factor?

You could pick anyone from JPW to Bryce and we don’t lose those 3 games.

I feel like you understand that’s what I meant.

Milroe is a terrible player.

He’s the worst QB we’ve had on the field since Pennington.

That I agree with.

Ty probably doesn't do much better, and then everyone would be writing off Ty, as if it weren't a situation where he wete set up for failure. On the road, getting his first meaningful game action against one of the best defenses in the country. That's not a situation I'd want for anyone. Tua excelled in a similar situation, but he is our GOAT QB imo..
Not really what I was asking.
If NIL mandates who plays QB, and DeBoer "violates" that by playing Simpson after Milroe's second interception, what NIL mechanism kicks in to force DeBoer to put Milroe back in? Does Milroe secure an emergency court order to enforce the conditions of the NIL contract? If it is contract that Milroe has to play, what coach in his right mind would accept employment under those conditions?

That’s just it. We don’t know. He could just as easily succeed as fail. Same for Austin Mack. At some point, you have to give players opportunities to succeed or fail on their own merits. And even in unsuccessful situations, there is something you learn about the player’s resilience.

We certainly gave Jalen more than enough time to test his resilience.

But that's assuming there wasn't a deal in place for Milroe to be the starter this year. There was. That's the only explanation. Unless Milroe got hurt, there was zero chance anyone else played.

A coach who didn’t know until LANK walked in to his office grinning and smoking a big cigar.

And by then, the coach needs someone to hold the team together and stem the tide of transfers. So he sells his soul for what he thinks is a yearlong deal.

Ya’ll are going to make me be pedanticly specific I guess.

I mean any established CNS starting QB from 2007-2022

No I’m not counting Blake Barnett or Cooper Bateman

JPW
McElroy
AJ
Sims
Coker
Hurts
Tua
Mac
Bryce

They are all better than Milroe

Worlds Better

Milroe is the worst entrenched QB starter than before any of those guys.

I’m not meaning one off examples.

I would have killed for a QB like Blake Sims this year.

I don't think it's an NIL thing. I think it was in exchange for Milroe staying and holding the roster together. If you break that kind of deal, then you risk alienating the players.
