Of note, in the middle-left is the famous bridge built during French occupation. It was far superior to anything else in the country and still stands. Since the communist takeover, many other bridges have been built as the city has grown. All the new bridges collapsed shortly after they were built due to graft. Funds allocated for building projects are largely stolen, leaving only money for inferior or insufficient building materials. Bridges, roads, dams, etc. soon fail, killing many people each year.

I visited a friend of mine today who is also a plant nut. I brought him some of the fruit off my Tuckeri Alexander Palm.

He has a massive & diverse Cycad collection. Knows every variety by name and where they are native to.

Cycads have male plants and females plants. If you are in possession of one of each, then you can hand pollinate the female with pollen from the male. He said he mixes the pollen with water and applies with a syringe. We had some very good discussions over the course of an hour. Days like this are special......
