My favorite is the Dubliner. Unfortunately, the best part to me is the great wooden deck and benches they have out front. Great on a nice day, but probably not in January. However, I've been there during winter before, and they have several fireplaces/heaters that keep it nice and warm in there. We still had a great time. If you get hungry, you have to get their reuben sandwich! It's the best I've ever had.

Croyle4Heisman, Bedford is quite a ways out and you are staying on the west side of D/FW Intl. Airport at that location. You are looking at a 20-30 minute drive to get into Dallas itself. I would recommend staying further east closer to Dallas, maybe the Comfort Inn Market Center.

Where to eat??

Well, that's one thing I'm pretty good at, and that's eating.

If you don't go anywhere else..... If you want a special treat, then go to one of these Brazilian steakhouses. This food is phenomenal, and the experience is unique. I cannot recommend it highly enough.
I have listed them in order of my favorites.
However, it is pricey.. Lunch and dinner are the same thing, but different prices.
You'll spend ~$30 per person for lunch, and ~$60 per person for dinner. I can tell you that as expensive as that is.... you will not regret it. In fact, you will thank me. I gaurantee it. Two tips... Salads are for whimps, and starve yourself before you go. :)

Fogo De Chao
Boi Na Braza
Texas De Brazil

BBQ... I've eaten at lots around here, but none of them are that good. None touch Dreamland. If I had to choose, I'd pick Spring Creek . It's a local chain, and affordable.

Mexican... Pappasitos is my favorite(and it's a chain). Chips and salsa are fantastic. Phenominal fajitas. Many people also like Uncle Julio's and

Steak.... Of course, the Brazillian steakhouses are the best, but I heard Bob's was the best. III Forks is great... All pricey.

Sports radio... The Ticket(1310 AM, 104.1 FM) and ESPN Radio (103.3 FM)

See you there.

Save some $ Stay in the 'burbs

If you stay within the Dallas city limits you will pay extra tax to support the building of the American Airlines Center.

Addison & Plano have nice hotels and places to eat, not that far north.

If you're not planning on tailgating at the Cotton Bowl save your time & frustration and take the Dart (Dallas Area Rapid Transit). We've got light rail from a number of points in the Metroplex and shuttle buses will be running to the Cotton Bowl from the downtown station.

Need a nice place to stay in Dallas for the Cotton Bowl?

The Embassy Suites Love Field is the place to go.

We are conveniently located near Love Field Airport and just north of downtown Dallas. We have rooms available for the week before, the weekend of, and and the week of the game.

Included in the room cost is a complimentary breakfast every morning, and this is a full made-to-order breakfast, pretty much anything you could want for breakfast short of steak. Also, each evening we have a complimentary manager's reception that includes FREE drinks/cocktails and some small snacks. Plus all the amenities included in a standard Embassy Suites suite. We have a full service bar and restaurant on property plus many other enjoyable places to go in the area.

For more information about the hotel you can e-mail me directly at Kevin.Sullivan@ihrco.com or call my direct line at 214-358-6911. I am in the office Monday through Friday 8am-4pm.

Splendid Italian restaurant on DART rail line

A wonderful, reasonably priced and often overlooked Italian restaurant in Dallas is Prego. Excellent southern Italian food and steaks, well-stocked bar with sports always on the television.

A bonus: Prego is located across the street from the Lovers Lane DART rail station, rendering automobiles (and designated drivers) optional. For those who drive, the restaurant is on Greenville Avenue, just south of Lovers Lane/US 75 exit. Three miles north of downtown Dallas, near SMU. For those who like the train, take the red line train to the Lovers Lane Station.

Yes! Prego is great, my second favorite Italian restaurant in Dallas. I think Angelo's (in the Lakewood area on Live Oak Street) is just a little better, but Prego is awesome!

Before we got married, my wife lived in some apartments nearby, and we would walk over to Prego for dinner a few times a month. My favorite there is actually the speghetti and meatballs.

New Years Eve Plans?

Anyone have a suggestion on where to spend New Year's Eve? We're all in our mid-20's, and want somewhere fun with drinks. Also, we prefer somewhere that doesn't require reservations...Any suggestions yall provide will be greatly appreciated...

For the nightlife try the bars/clubs on "Lower Greenville" it's great for the young crowd.

For a great steak I recommend Saltgrass Steakhouse

http://www.saltgrass.com/
I would strongly suggest avoiding Saltgrass. I have ate there 2 times and been sick as a dog each time within 2 hours of finishing my meal.

Besides, if you are willing to spend $$ at Saltgrass for a steak, spend $5-$10 more and go to Kirby's, or Bob's. Kirby's is right on Lower Greenville. You can have a great steak and then party it up.....

Deep Ellum is another choice on NYE for the 21-28 crowd. Yes, they have had some issues with crime but, most of it can be singled out to a certain type of club. If you look like you do not belong, do not go into the club. The police will be out in force to keep people in order.
