I only care about how it affects Alabama, and right now it is manifesting in poor chemistry, discipline, and leadershipYou think that’s the case only at Alabama?

No, it's happening all over, but BAMA is a very high profile school. A lot of these guys think, hey, it's BAMA, they have lots of money to spread around. NIL seems to be the way of the world now, but I say, you want big bucks, give me big play. You think that’s the case only at Alabama?
Yep - this is a much larger issue at schools which attract more talented players. These players have always been harder to manage. They have been told their entire lives how great they are. They have hugely inflated egos. Even their parents are more fan than parent as they hope their child will change the financial circumstances of the entire family. No, it's happening all over, but BAMA is a very high profile school. No, but just because Saban is the GOAT doesn't mean he doesn't make mistakes - and he handled the NIL locker room poorly. You think that’s the case only at Alabama?
JM is even inconsistent in his comments!Jalen's ability to run is what makes him special as a QB, but I think I've heard him say a couple of times that he would rather throw first. Maybe that's why he won't take the running opportunities when they are there. I think if he would do that, the defense would have to respect the run and it would open up the passing game for him.
Every person who keeps talking about the lack of "discipline" on this team needs to go back and read this post 1000 times.Saban literally said every player he met with at the end of the season was only concerned about “their brand” and their NIL deals. It’s why he retired.
Of course not, but because CNS was such a master at implementing the "process" it became more obvious to us when we started seeing the undisciplined nature of CNS's last few teams. IOW, this didn't happen overnight. As great as CNS is, the very thing that separated him from every other coach/team eventually slipped into his program/team too.You think that’s the case only at Alabama?
I"ve got a theory that it's in other teams too, but because we eat, sleep and breathe Bama football and don't pay as much attention to other teams we just don't notice it.No, but just because Saban is the GOAT doesn't mean he doesn't make mistakes - and he handled the NIL locker room poorly.
We don't hear of or see these issues manifesting at other schools with elite talent. Somehow Day, Smart, even Sark seem to have found better balance. Or more proactively removed cancers.
It is what it is, but DeBoer inherited a mess.
I'm sure it's an issue everywhere - the difference is it's being managed (or hasn't been allowed to develop into a cancer) better than it has at Bama.I"ve got a theory that it's in other teams too, but because we eat, sleep and breathe Bama football and don't pay as much attention to other teams we just don't notice it.
Any idea of this kind of stuff going on at OSU BIGTide?Yep - this is a much larger issue at schools which attract more talented players. These players have always been harder to manage. They have been told their entire lives how great they are. They have hugely inflated egos. Even their parents are more fan than parent as they hope their child will change the financial circumstances of the entire family.
Add NIL and the portal - coaches no longer have any real leverage. Coaches now are just there for the Xs and Os.
Where did I ever say that? I said this team’s problems are caused by NIL entitlements. You then said I had no proof. Saban himself is the proof. You think that’s the case only at Alabama?

I think NIL and transfers is probably at the root of Kirby Smart’s “hands off”’ approach with the off the issues in Athens. Kirby is only responding with consequences for the things that “optics” tell him he must respond to (ex: domestic abuse Rara Thomas and assault Cobie Young). I get the feeling his “unwritten” policy is to say “You get in trouble, if I can let the judicial system handled it, I will. Do what need you to do on the field, and we’re good”. As long as the Athletic Department or University Administration doesn’t press him, Kirby just looks the other way. And know for certain he isn’t getting pressed by the “higher ups”.I'm sure it's an issue everywhere - the difference is it's being managed (or hasn't been allowed to develop into a cancer) better than it has at Bama.
Otherwise we'd see consistently awful performances at UGA, OSU, texas, etc like we have at Bama. And it's not just us seeing it - everyone in the CFB world sees how undisciplined and poorly prepared Bama looks.
I remember this. This was back in 2015 during his 8th grade year, no?I remember that as well. He sat on the ground and was slow to get up, grabbed at one of his shoulders (IDK which one). He hasn't been the same since.

...and you know this how...?He lost credibility with me when he didnt punish Moore after the vandy game, and it aint looking good in terms of discipline from the UT game.
Good points and I agree 100% with the last statement. We don’t know whether or not other schools are handling NIL better. I tend to think they aren’t.Of course not, but because CNS was such a master at implementing the "process" it became more obvious to us when we started seeing the undisciplined nature of CNS's last few teams. I know we get tired of the comparisons but Saban's pressers were literally "get out your popcorn" entertainment. He gave insight to his why, he could take a question and find a way not to answer it and get on whatever tangent he had already preconceived. Deboer answers the actual questions and as you said gives coach speak. He needs to understand he is at the highest profile job in all of sports in America. Showing his personality and enthusiasm for the team, game, and what his plans will be will only help him with the fan base and the team. His pressers are a long stream of nothing but cliche'd coach speak. I wouldn't take anything from them. My guess is by this time next season there won't be one reporter showing up to his pressers. That's how uninformative they are.
