RB/ATH Corey Brown names his top ten and Bama makes the cut. Bama is recruiting him as a RB.

Recruiters chasing after speedy Brown
It's all about speed, both on and off the football field, for Under Armour All-American athlete Corey Brown (Springfield, Pa./Cardinal O'Hara).

The 6-foot, 171-pound receiver/running back prospect, who one college recruiter described as "absolutely electric," recently added success on the track to his list of accomplishments. During his first season competing in the sport, he finished fourth in Pennsylvania in the 100-meter dash (10.92 seconds in the state meet) and third in the 200 (21.69).

What are the chances of us landing this kid?
I would say he is a little ways down the RB pecking order but he lists Bama among his favorites and Bama is certainly recruiting him hard. Right now I am not that confident that he will end up at Bama and sources close to him say that Florida, Ohio State and Rutgers are out in front for him right now, but things can change. He is kind of a tweener, ATH/RB/WR. He is definitely fast. At the recent Pennsylvania District 12 Outdoor Track Championships Brown won the 100 meters with a time of 10.3 seconds and captured the 200 meters in 21.3 seconds. He also anchored his 4x100 relay team to a first-place finish.

True. But that kinda player doesn't fit into our type of offense. I'm not saying I wouldn't want him, just don't see where he fits in. But I believe in Coach Saban and I'm sure he has a plan for him
???

Yeah, correct. We don't want extremely fast athletes on our team...only Florida takes those guys.

I'm thinking personel packages. Saban could/would find a spot for this guy! He's a burner! I don't know what he looks like catching the ball. But I say receiver! Anybody can be taught to catch a ball. Anybody can be taught the skills a Receiver needs to be successful. Speed can not be taught! This guy is a BURNER, I've heard about him around the track, at first I second thought it. I didn't think that it was the same guy. I hope Florida doesn't get this cat! He really would be a mis-match! I really like this guy! I hope we get him!!

It would be nice to have some more speed on the offense, but Crimson Surfer said they were recruiting him as a RB, and he's not the back we typically recruit. If you read the article, Brown even says he is willing to line up in the slot because he knows he is not an every down back

Correct me if I'm wrong, But we're not really a "many options" team. We're the Smash-mouth, Knock-you-down-get-back-up-and-let's-do-it-again, Down-Hill, Running team... am I right?

No I agree in principle. My statement wasn't necessarily pertinent to the Corey Brown situation. I just think Saban likes guys that he can put at different positions if necessary. Aside from some of the skill positions, I think he likes versatile players.
