While I suspect this is an effort to frame vaccines as the issue, I'm hopeful they can figure something else out, such as food additives, which are far more prevalent today than even a few decades ago.

That said, any research that determines when they will have the answer ahead of time is automatically suspect. That, combined with RFKs anti-vax history, leaves me with only a thread of hope.
Towards the end of this podcast they dive into vaccines and autism. It’s pretty interesting.

The man who RFK Jr. just hired to run his autism study

1) Doesn't have a medical degree
2) Ran experiments where he injected autistic children with a puberty-blocking drug
3) Was fined $10,000 by the state of Maryland for doing all this without a medical license

It's absolutely disgusting what this administration is doing and putting American lives at risk. All while the Trump lovers cheer it on. It's not like cutting these labs will put even a slight dent in government spending but it will do a lot of harm to the citizens of this country.

A lunatic like RFK should have never been confirmed but our current congress is completely inept right now.

Actually, researchers at the CDC are glad that the number of autistic children is ticking up.

Because it means that we are doing a better job of diagnosing autism - rather than autism is increasing.

In spite of what RFK's nutcase namesake son wants us to believe.

They say rising rates have to with improved screening and that years of research point to a wide variety of causes for the condition, including genetic, biological and environmental factors.

It's very unlikely that autism is caused by "one thing," said Catherine Lord, a professor of human development and psychology at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA via email.

Zachary Warren, a pediatric psychiatrist and autism researcher at Vanderbilt University agrees. "We may have hundreds, if not thousands, of different neurogenetic factors that in combination with complicated environmental interactions influence presentations of autism," he said via email.

Dear Lord, but this clown is on a hell of a roll...

In which Idiot Boy talks of Autism as though it were a disease, yet again demonstrating how unqualified he is.
I have worked with a couple of individuals who were on the Asperger's spectrum. I would consider them borderline geniuses. Socially awkward, yes. Prone to not understanding the gravity of some of the things they would say or do, but if I gave them a hopelessly complicated problem, they would find a solution.

No matter which side of the fence you sit, I will never understand how anyone with half a brain supports RFK. A lunatic idiot who doesn't know the first thing about health services.

Plenty of people with autism have jobs, pay taxes and create art. I could list a ton but, I'll just list one example for now. Bella Ramsey, who plays Ellie on the show "The Last of Us" has autism. She is a great actor doing great work but, there is no way to convince bigots like RFK that they are wrong.

Andrew Huberman seems encouraged by some of the MAHA goals. That carries weight with me for sure. The only time I've really heard RFK was on Rogan maybe 2 years ago. I didn't know anything about him so I showed up to the podcast without an opinion. I thought the talk was really interesting and was well worth the time to listen.

It's where I go to get all of my knowledge of medicine, science, and Moon landing truth. :D

Sure, getting rid of some of the additives in food is probably a good idea, but will those benefits outweight the damage RFKjr's incompetence could create?

Keep in mind, the first two issues on MAHA's official site are:

Protecting Natural Habitats -- Something outside HHS's jurisdiction. Meanwhile, the govt is working to turn a lot of federal land over for mining/drilling.

Exposing Corporate Corruption -- Again, something outside HHS jurisdiction. Musk and Thiel are already getting sweetheart deals, not to mention whatever insider trading occurred during Tarriffpalooza. My guess is that any targets of corruption investigations will be companies who don't bend the knee to Trump.

Good Lord, he's stepped in it AGAIN...

I short changed him on my earlier comment. I’ve heard plenty of experts on medical topics on JRE. Andrew Huberman and Rhonda Patrick come immediately to mind.

GOOD!

IT'S OFFICIAL: Trump administration moves to BAN essentially ALL artificial food dyes in the USA food supply at RFK Jr.'s direction. Eliminate 6 dyes: Red 40, Yellow 5, Yellow 6, Blue 1, Blue 2, Green 3, by the end of 2026. FDA Commissioner Makary says: "This administration is NOT interested in doing the same old things as we watch our children get SICKER." Goes on to say cancer, diabetes, etc. going up at "alarming rate" - "nobody seems to know why." Goal? Address what's IN THE FOOD, not focusing on more drug admissions. - Establish national standard, timeline for food industry to move from petroleum dyes to natural - Initiate process to revoke authorization of citrus red 2 and orange b - Requesting food companies remove Red 3 SOONER than the deadline Effectively "ALL" petroleum-based dyes to be removed.

I hate to have to admit this but, I am on board with these changes from Trump/RFK. In fact, this country needs to go a lot farther. This country lags behind in protecting its citizens from what is put in our food. This is good thing even if it is coming from the party that claims to want less oversight, less regulations. This is one area we really do need more regulations.

Here is a list of ingredients that are banned or restricted in the EU and I think the US should be doing the same:

Potassium Bromate
  • Used in bread products to help strengthen the dough and make it rise higher
  • The International Agency for Research on Cancer says it’s “possibly carcinogenic to humans”
  • Also banned in Argentina, Nigeria, South Korea, India and China

Azodicarbonamide
  • Used in baking to make dough tougher and bread whiter
  • When it breaks down, it creates semicarbazide, which may pose a slight cancer risk

Butylated hydroxyanisole (BHA)
  • Used as a food preservative and flavor enhancer
  • Often found in fast foods, cereals, drink mixes, gum and snacks
  • National Institutes of Health says it is “reasonably anticipatedto be a human carcinogen”

Brominated vegetable oil (BVO)
  • Used in soda and citrus-flavored drinks
  • Can build up in the body and be passed on to offspring; may cause neurological and developmental issues
  • Put on “interim” list by FDA in 1970 - little research has been done since to determine safety in humans

Food Colorings
  • Red 40 is banned in the EU and foods with yellow 6 must carry a health warning
  • Titanium dioxide was banned by the EU in 2022 amidst concerns it may cause DNA damage
  • Center for Science in the Public Interest says “studies of the nine dyes currently approved by the FDA suggest, if not prove, that most of the dyes cause health problems, including cancer, hypersensitivity, or neurotoxicity”

Ractopamine
  • Chemical added to pig and cattle feed to boost muscle growth
  • Due to lack of safety information, it is banned most places, including China, Russia and Taiwan

Recombinant bovine growth hormone (rBGH)
  • Used to boost milk production in cows
  • There is a lack of human safety information, but it may impact animal welfare and the environment

Antibiotics
  • Livestock antibiotic use in the US is double that of the EU
  • Presence in the US food supply is monitored
  • Residues in the body can cause antibiotic resistance and a range of potential health problems

Pesticides
  • US farmers are using 72 pesticides banned in the EU
  • Pesticide standards is the US are much weaker than the EU
  • Growing evidence suggests they may cause endocrine disruptions and harm the gut microbiome
Rules about food additives are generally stricter in the European Union (EU) versus the United States (US). The US tends to wait until an ingredient is flagged as dangerous before taking action, while the EU tends to be more proactive in banning such ingredients.

In the US, ingredients that are generally recognized as safe (GRAS) don’t go through the official Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approval process. Food manufacturers are supposed to tell the FDA if any ingredient they use might be dangerous, which creates a conflict of interest.
