Roll Call: Where is everyone from?

I was up in the Nashville area last week for a couple of days. It had been about 5 or 6 years since I'd been up there. We met up with a friend (and fellow Bama grad) who was in med school at Vandy. I've always been a Nashville fan. It's one of only a handful of cities (the only one in Tenn. BTW) outside Alabama I would ever consider living.

You're right about Franklin/Brentwood. That entire Cool Springs area is as nice and organized a suburb as you'll ever see. It's basically a less spread out and more organized version of Hoover/Inverness. Plus, unlike Bham (as much as I like the Bham area), they actually have entertainment options other than shopping and movie theaters. Is the area along I-440 west of I-65 up to I-40 a nice area? That area looks like it's going to provide me the shortest commute to work while also allowing me to be close to the Brentwood/Franklin areas and the south side of town which will cut some off the trips back home, to the beach, and of course....to Alabama games.

One last thing Tider, are there any decent non-country stations in Nashville? 105.9 FM was a decent classic rock station but the rest of the stations quite frankly suck!! That's one of the few areas where Bham kills Nashville IMO. Bham has fun stations like 106.9 (all 80s), 100.5 FM (classic alternative music station with a really strong signal out of Tuscaloosa), 99.5, and others. It would be nice to have a few decent stations to listen to if and when I move up there.

You might try Lightning 100.1 if you want an alternative rock station. Lots of REM, Drivin' n Cryin', etc..... If you want sports talk, we have plenty of that and it's pretty good. 99.7, 104.5, 560am, 1510am for that.

3 different high schools! Been a blast following the Tide from all over. My relatives lived in Fayette and Northport. Spent many a summer in Fayette when I could. Lived in Omaha when the Tide pounded the Huskers in 67 Sugar bowl. Put a big sign in window .."WE believe" & 34-7! Sure got a lot of bad looks from the big red. ;) ..Had to listen to radio armed forces to hear Bama games live around 2-4 am on Guam. Listened to wwl out of nawlins to hear the Bama-lsu game each year in Omaha. Boy I am glad times have changed getting the chance to hear or even see out TIDE!!! Sure made up for it buying tapes from Simon. Some of these games, we never got a chance to see. Sure enjoy the sight! Can't wait for the season. Anyone else from around here in Pensacola? Keep in touch

:biga: Grew up on a farm in rural Coffee County Al and finished High School in 1975 at Kinston High School. We didn't have a football team at Kinston but I played in many Alabama/Auburn cow pasture games most every Sunday afternoon. I knew just about every option you could run off of the wishbone. Bama seldom if ever lost back then and I was a long time getting over Notre Dame jumping Alabama from #6 to #1 when Bama was #2 and Bama won their bowl game.

Enjoyed watching Don Horstead, Johnny Sharpless and Johnny Dyess play their High School ball at Elba High and later on play for Coach Bryant, Doug Vickers at Enterprise too.

I live in Jacksonville FL now and am a claims adjustor for Nationwide Ins. co.

Go Bama!

Born in BHM (St. Vincent's), Graduated from Hewitt-Trussville & BSC and talking to you guys from the Basque Country for the past 3 years. RTR!!!

Born in Talladega, and lived in Birmingham for a few years while in nursing school and just after. Hubby and I moved to Fairhope 24 years ago, and will likely be here till we croak.

In the fall, I enjoy those scenic trips up 43, from Mobile to Tuscaloosa, for the games.

I graduated HS Bossier City,LA '80. Tuscaloosa from 80-84. BS Mineral Engineering. MD from U of MS '89. Now in Tupelo, MS(Birthplace of Elvis). I live in a hotbed of MS State/Old Miss fans! It's tough!

Born in

Greenville, Al. Born again in Florence, AL. At The University from 68-71. (From some of Coach's worse to one of his best). Here in north Alabama for last 26 years. :biga2:

Born and raised in Elmore County, about 7 miles from where I'll live till I die. Got here via Texas, Mississippi, Alabama, Maryland, Virginia, Athens Greece, San Antonio (and about 1000 TDYs along the way) and back to Montgomery for my final duty station in the USAF. Retired from the ** and bought a secluded spot near Titus (in the suburbs) with enough wooded land around my home to keep civilization from encroaching. Got my degree from Troy St. while in the ** so I didn't get to attend UA. Been a Bama fan all my life, my mother would not have allowed anything else.

Born and raised here in Franklin, TN. However, I was born to A family that loved the Crimson tide and I continued the tradition. Attended College in Alabama at UNA in Florence, Alabame.

Lived in Daphne, AL until 5 years ago when we moved to Nashville (and we're about to move to Murfreesboro). Wanted to go to college at The University but a girl kept me closer to home (which was a stupid mistake).

However, everything worked out for the best cause I probably never would have met my wonderful wife nor had my 2 great sons.

ROLL TIDE ROLL!

Born in Newnan, Ga., but my folks moved to Mobile when I was a year old so I consider Mobile my hometown. (And no, we didn't travel to Mobile in a covered wagon.)
Sad thing is, and I bet you know what I am talking about, all the "native" Mobilians consider you as being from Georgia regardless of how long you have been in Mobile. If you die there your obit will read "native of Newnan, Ga."
