I have been reading on here a lot about this kid and I would be ecstatic if he were to sign with us. But I just have to wonder at this point in time with Julio already being here if they could co-exist together on the same team.
They might would be fine sharing the spotlight but many times it doesn't work out that way. And with our unknown at QB going into next season as well as the revamping of our 0-line, I would guess that he would weigh that into his decision.
I know LSU's QB situation isn't great but the experience factor along with the pressure to stay home would seem to me to trump taking a chance elsewhere with an unknown.
I know coach Saban is an awful big consideration for him to come to Bama, but otherwise he could have just as good a chance of being prosperous at LSU and becoming a home town hero to boot.
LSU fresh off a national championship and at the moment either on top or at the top in the recruiting services is nothing for a home town/state kid to overlook even with Bama's recent success this season.
Don't get me wrong. If he were to sign with Bama it would be nothing short of a major coup of epic proportions, especially from what we have experienced the past few years.
I am just not going to get to excited as I know most of you are not either until he signs with us on the dotted line.
I think we have 2 commitments already that can come in and complement Julio starting even next season in Bowman and Norwood. And if we get Kelly, an instate highly ranked receiver, I am not sure if there would be enough playing time to keep everyone happy regardless if Randle comes or not.
But that would be an awesome problem to have.
I certainly don't want the kid to come to Bama just so we can beat LSU in the recruiting rankings or finish #1 again. I would be happy with a top 5 after last seasons haul. And this seasons haul may actually grade out higher in the average star power ratings.
I do think that our QB situation will be better next year even with JPW graduating. Mostly in the depth department than at the top but even with that I don't think there will be much of an obvious difference at the top. Its just that we were lucky that JPW stayed healthy all season. If we have an injury to a QB then I think the depth will show big time as compared to the Brodie/Watts/Zow days.
Maybe Rueben is looking at that also, I don't know. I just feel that our chances to land this kid is slim. Which doesn't bother me one bit. We have Saban, enough said!
