Rueben Randle Thoughts...

I have been reading on here a lot about this kid and I would be ecstatic if he were to sign with us. But I just have to wonder at this point in time with Julio already being here if they could co-exist together on the same team.

They might would be fine sharing the spotlight but many times it doesn't work out that way. And with our unknown at QB going into next season as well as the revamping of our 0-line, I would guess that he would weigh that into his decision.

I know LSU's QB situation isn't great but the experience factor along with the pressure to stay home would seem to me to trump taking a chance elsewhere with an unknown.

I know coach Saban is an awful big consideration for him to come to Bama, but otherwise he could have just as good a chance of being prosperous at LSU and becoming a home town hero to boot.

LSU fresh off a national championship and at the moment either on top or at the top in the recruiting services is nothing for a home town/state kid to overlook even with Bama's recent success this season.

Don't get me wrong. If he were to sign with Bama it would be nothing short of a major coup of epic proportions, especially from what we have experienced the past few years.

I am just not going to get to excited as I know most of you are not either until he signs with us on the dotted line.

I think we have 2 commitments already that can come in and complement Julio starting even next season in Bowman and Norwood. And if we get Kelly, an instate highly ranked receiver, I am not sure if there would be enough playing time to keep everyone happy regardless if Randle comes or not.

But that would be an awesome problem to have.

I certainly don't want the kid to come to Bama just so we can beat LSU in the recruiting rankings or finish #1 again. I would be happy with a top 5 after last seasons haul. And this seasons haul may actually grade out higher in the average star power ratings.

I do think that our QB situation will be better next year even with JPW graduating. Mostly in the depth department than at the top but even with that I don't think there will be much of an obvious difference at the top. Its just that we were lucky that JPW stayed healthy all season. If we have an injury to a QB then I think the depth will show big time as compared to the Brodie/Watts/Zow days.

Maybe Rueben is looking at that also, I don't know. I just feel that our chances to land this kid is slim. Which doesn't bother me one bit. We have Saban, enough said!

I think Julio has shown that he is pretty mature. They would make each other better.

It's ALWAYS an unknown.

Actually, LSU is fresh off a 5-loss season... :)

Maybe it WAS RR's mom and it is just that she wants a complete set of Coach Saban signed footballs.......she can get the next one when she goes to see her son play for Coach Saban's Crimson Tide!!!!

BTW, anyone who insists a young man play for their team (instate or otherwise) when his heart wants to go somewhere else is not a "friend". Fans do things like that but friends do not.

"They would make each other better." You would hope. But the truth of it is, it's an unknown. For all we know Bowman or Norwood would beat him out for playing time.

Or we could have problems ego wise. Not just Julio, but Randle. How mature is Randle? Do you know?

"It's always an unknown." Duh!!! I should have thought of that! If you are jumping into the unknown then wouldn't it be wise to jump off with family and friends, close to you?

"Actually, LSU is fresh off a 5-loss season... :)"

And a national championship. Who last won the national championship? The Florida/Oklahoma championship game has yet to play if you have forgot.

Are you just wanting to argue for argue sake?

Count me out.

I am not trying to recruit for LSU. I am just stating my "Reuben Randle Thoughts..." :)

TI reports that sources in Lousiana that once though Randle was a lock for LSU now say he is leaning slightly towards Bama. AJ is recruiting him heavily and will take an official with him and AJ's dad is recruiting Randles's family. The monster is awakening.:):BigA:

this was on tigerforums today, FWIW, I don't think anyone can say for certain they know he's leaning one way or another.

If you looked at the chat with RR on Rivals earlier, if it showed he was a lean to anyone, it was definitely LSU IMO. But you'd have to look real hard...

Randle mentioned he'd liked to go to a place where another receiver would take the pressure off of him. He mentioned each "star" WR for every team but interestingly enough, he mentioned BL and TT for LSU.

"He talked about being a star for the home school too, said it would be a great opportunity to play in front of his family/friends and represent the home state.

Weighed in the positives for every school he was favoring and the reasons he gave for the other schools were actually in LSU's favor also, like he mentioned Miami puts a lot of receivers in the first round. Obviously didn't want to say too much about one school I guess.

Talked about seeing himself playing by RS, saying he could allow him to get open more with his athleticism.

But what else was he going to say, you know?"

Could it be that he is trying to divert pressure from his "home state" crowd? Sometimes when a kid is (supposedly) still considering several schools and is waiting 'til NSD to make a decision, speaking more favorably of the home school (if he really was going there) would ruin his chance for a "big surprise" on NSD.
He may very well sign with LSU but I'd be leary of him making those indications under the circumstances.

FWIW, I had a dream last night that RR picked LSU. Weird huh? I dont really have dreams that I remember anymore and a few more like this will make me wish I wouldnt remember them. Anyway, my boss says I am thinking about recruiting way too much. At this point, I would have to agree.

I agree with that 100% but what makes tigerforums a distasteful experience for the Bama fans her that post or used to post on tigerforums isn't the LSU members but those #@$%#&*@#$%$@# Barners that squat on your forum 24/7 like they are kin to you.
I beg to differ. First of all the mods over there are so cliquey and inconsistant with giving out the "infractions" that they like to give out. Second, if you're a rival fan and you dont brown nose the mods and kiss up to LSU, you'll be dominated with Bama shots and personal shots.

Other that that, they layout is good...but the mods, they $uck.

On topic: Its going to be interesting if RR does choose Bama...They have already had a mini meltdown with Debose! He was a "lock" according to them. Stealing Randle would be great.

bull, there was no meltdown on Tigerforums. one person complaining isn't a meltdown.

If I posted over here the way you do on Tidefans, I'd have been suspended a bunch by now, you're on a rival forum, after all, you bring some of that on yourself.

Randle may well go to Bama, and I'll be disapointed if we miss out on him. But our class is still going to be strong. We have 4 five stars and 11 four stars committed now. In 2003 we had the no. 1 class with 1 five star and 17 fours.

And that pretty much sumps up for both of us. Both Alabama and LSU are going to have incredible classes regardless of what Randle does, and in reality whoever gets Randle will merely have the proverbial maraschino cherry on top of an already delectable ice cream sunday.

At this point, neither program can really do wrong, regardless of what Randle decides.

I tell you, if both 'Bama and LSU can hold up their respective ends of the deal by developing all of this talent properly, the Alabama v. LSU games in the near future are going to be like Oklahoma v. Texas the past few years, or Florida State v. Miami during the 1990's, or perhaps even Florida v. Florida State when both Spurrier and Bowden were at their peak.

It will be the game that the entire college football world stops and fixes their eyes upon.

I'm a Bama fan,but I've said all along I believe RR stays in state signing with LSU. Heck,I would be somewhat surprised if he goes to Bama. I still believe he will be a great prospect for whichever team he choses, but agree he won't make or break either sides class. I wish him the best either way,and if he was a instate kid it would sting more to lose him. IMO,after watching Bamas D performance in the sugar bowl :mad2:I want to get better DB"s and OL's to help the team the most anyway. I really feel we have plenty of WR on roster that could get much better and step up next year, and I feel we need much improvement in cb coverage .

There is no new RR info today. It is being reported by some that he will official visit Bama on Jan. 16th. The latest can be found in the thread from yesterday titled List of prospects taking offical vists to Bama (1/09). Check out my post fourth from the top in that thread for the latest. By the way that thread was just nine threads down the board at the time of this posting.

I don't post much till recruiting gets down into the home stretch but I believe we have a realistic chance to sign Randall but we'll have a good WR haul even if we don't sign him, especially if we land Pat Patterson, Bumphis or Bell or two of the three or all three. Someone said to watch where Pat Patterson goes and that will be a tell where Randall is headed, might be the same with Bumphis. I really like Patterson BTW.

Some are saying it is 50/50 between LSU and Bama for Randle, others are saying he is down to either LSU and OU. I still think Bama is definitely in the mix and I certainly hope he makes his scheduled official visit to Bama on Jan. 16th. I still think they can pull him out of Louisiana but without an official visit the chances of that get slimmer.

I agree with you, I also really like Patterson. I would love to see him sign with Bama and play slot receiver next year.

Bumphis recently said he is down to either MSU or Bama. I think he will end up at MSU.

I remember reading on this same exact fourm last year about Julio Jones in December of last year, somebody said "Julio WILL be wearing crimson next year, take my word for it!" and I saw on here this year, almost the same thing, Randle will be in red next year or will be at alabama next year, something like that. I'm convinced Reuban is coming to Bama, you dont just come out and say something like that unless you know... ya know? :)
