We are told the Ukrainians have been using U.S. Intelligence to kill so many Russian generals. Now our side had said killing the generals was not the intention, in an effort not to provoke Putin.

What the heck?

We give them intelligence to help their war efforts but want to claim we draw the line with killing generals? please…nobody really believes that.

Somebody has been whispering in he president's ear that he needs to be very careful with antagonizing the Russians. President Biden has bent over backwards to avoid appearing too confrontational.
I generally would recommend avoiding needlessly antagonizing anyone, but, heck, the Russians have invaded a peaceful neighboring country. It is probably okay to tick them off in Ukraine until they stop their horrendous behavior.

I wouldn’t mind if we offered a qualification…we will not target Russian generals that are currently in favor of overthrowing Putin.

let Putin chew on that.

I think Biden has done a pretty good job of expressing his displeasure with Putin while not unnecessarily antagonizing him.

That said, I don't care if we antagonize that piece of excrement anymore. Of course, there's a reason I'm not making these decisions. :)

I agree.

But it’s a tall order to defeat these invaders and support Ukraine in running them out of the country while at the same time sparing Putin’s delicate sense of self importance. 12 dead Russian generals seems to suggest the gloves are off, it’s hard to pretend otherwise.

Yep. I have spent some time in Argentina and have many friends there as well as expats.

They are still smarting over Operation Condor, US tacit support of the Dirty War, and their own mini-Holocaust with the desaparecidos. The juntas in Argentina, Chile and Uruguay were fighting what amounted to a false flag. The insurgents were not very numerous, and the junta had infiltrated them to a great degree. The Argentine Montoneros leader(Ferminich) was a paid informant for the junta.

The other black eye we have is the decades of US support for tinhorn dictators in both Central and So. America. As long as our businesses prospered, the US seemed to turn a blind eye to tyranny and injustice. And we were "surprised" when Castro took over in Cuba.

Brazil's Lula says Zelenskiy 'as responsible as Putin' for Ukraine war
BRASILIA, May 4 (Reuters) - Former Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva said Russia never should have invaded Ukraine, but he believes Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy is as much to blame for the war as Russian leader Vladimir Putin.

In an interview with Time magazine published on Wednesday, the leftist leader also said U.S. President Joe Biden could have done more to prevent the conflict instead of inciting it.

Brazil's Lula says Zelenskiy 'as responsible as Putin' for Ukraine war

Oh, brother. Whataboutism at its' finest.

You rob my bank, kill a few bank employees, maybe rape a few of them in the back office, then blow the whole building up.

Lula says you shouldn't have robbed my bank, but it's my fault for leaving the front door unlocked.

Thanks, Lula. I get it now.

I agree, but maybe they need some help.

I understand we have a policy of not going after another country’s leader, but Putin needs killing bad.
The generals getting killed in Ukraine have been mostly brigadiers and major generals (one and two-stars) mostly living in the provinces (where most of the army is based)
The generals plotting a coup would be four stars, connected inside Moscow.
But, yeah, whatever help they might need...

As nutty as Bolsonaro is, Lula won the last election there while he was in prison. Brazil has, issues.
