I would presume Putin wants or needs the propaganda he can generate from having someone shoot down one of his plane. That way he can falsely claim other countries are the aggressor. Quite the powderkeg over that way...

I think he is desensitizing the target countries to the violations. One day (the first day of the next war), the Russian airplane will release ordnance and sink the ship. (See the USS Stark and USS Vincennes.)

During all the hoo-hah of Charlie Kirk's assassination, few people seemed to have noticed the resignation (or firing) of Putin’s only sensible advisor, Dmitri Kozak. (I think I spelled that right.) Unless I've been misinformed, he was against this war from the start and was on point for cease-fire negotiations. His resignation (or firing) sent a signal to the president that Putin has essentially given up on any sort of peace agreement, regardless of how one-sided it would have been in his favor.

Needless to say, this put Trump in an awkward position. As we all know, crossing this man will not usually work out in your favor and as many predicted he would do, Putin made a fool out of him on the world stage. I think this is now personal, but that's just my opinion.

Can someone please provide a single actionable item from the so-called “Trump’s pivot on Ukraine” that the media is talking about?

As far as I can see, Trump continues the same course:
- No US military aid
- Will sell weapons to Europe (to be sent to Ukraine). Paid by Europe.

That is the same position that he had back in June. Words have changed, actions have not.

Only the talk has changed. I guess Zelinsky got some cards somewhere.
Who knows what trump will say in a few days.

this is like all of those times in the first go round where the media waved their hands and declared that he became presidential !1!!111

Good question. I have not seen it. Maybe the jury is still out. Instead of pushing Zelensky to make concessions, maybe now he is looking to take action to put pressure on Putin to agree to peace. Maybe. I still have not seen it.

He could also be setting the stage to turn his back on the whole thing by saying Ukraine can handle it. Putin would obviously like that.
 
BREAKING: Zelensky requested Tomahawk missiles at a closed meeting with Trump for a strike on the Kremlin. In an interview after the meeting, Mr Zelensky said Mr Trump was amenable to his appeal for the long-range cruise missile, that would put Moscow in range of Kyiv’s strikes. Zelensky stated that if the Ukrainian Armed Forces receive such weapons, they will consider the Kremlin a target for attack, the publication writes.

That is part of PURL, that was announced on July 14, where weapons are paid for by the Europeans:
