Sadly we were outcoached again...

The theme of this thread has changed guys. No one since the OP has really been hating on CNS so much. Catch up on your reading. It's been more of a get-it-off-your-chest kind of feel. We all know CNS is the best, but mistakes were made and some want to vent. Not fire the coach. It's therapeutic. Roll Tide

In no way did I mean to hate on coach Saban! In fact he is the closest thing to being a God that I know of in my mind! But he has been beaten by Les Miles 2 straight years! Bama has the more experienced team, more senior leadership, playing at home and was favored to win. I know the players didn't execute at times that cost us, I ain't blind I seen it! But you can't separate the players from the coaches on a team. The players and the coaches who teach the players were beaten last night and last year by Les Miles and LSU!

Bama has out recruited LSU for the past 4-5 years per the recruiting sites, so we have equal or better talent than them or do we not? Who's to blame that we don't have a fieldgoal kicker who can kick 50 yard fieldgoals or who in games chokes when called upon to do so? I love coach Saban and our assistant coaches as much as any of you! But even coach Saban will tell you it starts with him! I remember coach Bryant saying he was out-coached before! It happens, and since it has happened again this year I hope Bama gets a rematch to change the fact as to who is the better team and coaches! Right now we are #2 and that does not make me happy much less the players and coaches!

All of our prides are hurting today but we still and always will love our coaches, players, team and school! ROLL TIDE ROLL!!! Oh how I can't wait till the Iron bowl!! I know some Auburn fans I am going to hunt up and watch this game with!!! ;)

Agree. I think those decisions were made with the thinking, "We may not be able to get down closer against this defense, so let's see if we can get some points."

I was talking to a friend who is an LSU alum. His comment, he was glad that we stopped LSU just outside of FG range every time (instead of letting them get a few more yards with a chance of a long FG). We forced them to punt and allowed them to pin us deep. Their punter is a weapon, and they got a chance to use him.

I then pointed out that Bama followed up each of those deep punts with a long drive. His response - those might have been TD drives if they had started at the 35 yard line instead of the 5 yard line. Lots of different ways to look at this.

Ask your friend to explain how we didn't score on the 2 interceptions then. We started at midfield or better and came away without TDs.

I don't think we got out-coached last night. Just as we made some suspect decisions, so did LSU. I would argue that LSU abandoning the option until overtime after we blew-up the one play wa a poor decision on their part. The difference was that the mistakes we made were much more glaring and detrimental.

Sorry but I think that we recruit the Right kind of kids, may not be the biggest Hot Shots according to ESPN but I will take our team over the kind of kids you see from rival schools anyday. They played Hard they come up short that is it. Coach Saban did not send out the kicker because he knew he would miss, Like Coach Bryant said to the reporter when they were questioning him " I'm trying to win the Game". There were a lot of other plays that needed to be made against this very good team besides 4 missed field goals. You just can not let the few opportuntites when you get them go.

I think in the aggregate LSU had better players. And I believe CNS thought that before I did.

Interesting point and I agree, but not with the offense and defense, but the kickers and punters. They had a far superior punter, which makes you wonder why we didn't punt in certain situations. I don't believe we played not to lose as much as we played to not expose our weaknesses, which are glaring today.

Coach Saban was a little more subdued than normal in the "Big Game" and Miles seemed to like the match-up and was more upbeat, so he said. But maybe that's the way Miles always is........but Coach Saban sounded irritated a bit imo.

It was said that we don't have many "signature wins at Alabama". Last night would have definitely been one :)

And here I was thinking Bama's recruiting was better than LSU according to the recruiting services and that coach Saban is the best recruiter in the business. Of course LSU beat us out for the services of Randall and a few others that coach Saban really wanted.

I don't think Les has been waiving people down at random on the highway to play at LSU

It isn't so much that Miles did anything specific. He simply let his team play within itself and didn't let his players take unnecessary risks. He slow played this game in much the same way that Coach Stallings would have. Had Bama won, he probably would have been criticized for not taking more risks. Such is the nature of coaching.

This is pretty accurate... and actually goes against his normal philosophy. Case in point is how he handle Jefferson after it was obvious Lee wasn't going to return. He was extremely careful in passing calls, even though Jefferson had made plays during last year's game. CLM realized JJ is not the same player this year as last year... and didn't put him in a situation where he'd try to do too much and put them at risk. He put the game on the back of his defense and special teams and let us self-destruct.

Sure he has LOL! ;) Look at all the 5 stars and high classes Urban Meyer and Florida has brought in and stock piled! Just goes to show that there is more to it than just signing great classes. Les Miles is equal if not better than coach Saban at developing players it seems.

Les Miles let our coaches worry about what he might pull out of his hat during our preparation for this game and that is the sinister part about the whole thing. He played old school smash mouth football while we gimmicked and worried about what they might do but didn't. Pretty smart if you ask me. But in a rematch, I think things will be different! ;)

I haven't read through all 17 pages but still would like to add, from what I did read, that I really dont have a problem with the decision of going for the long FGs. When you are at the 30 which is about a 47, try for the points. I do disagree with using Shelley on the 3rd missed FG. Yeah, Foster was off on the other two but if this obviously wasn't really within Shelley's range. We'll never know whether Foster could have connected on this one which would have totally changed things. I really think the teams were so equal if we played them 10 times we would probably split.

I haven't read the entire thread but I strongly disagree with the titles premise that Miles outcoached Saban and the Bama staff. Bama did more than enough to win the game, however the breaks, and I mean big breaks just went LSU's way. jmofwiw

Wow, this comment thread is way out of line!

I would not blame Saban one bit if he packed up all of his talent and championships and left after he reads this crud!

The No.2 team in the nation got beat by the No.1 team in the nation by 3 point in OT!

End of story...

It was a team loss just like the previous 8 games were all team wins...

Two teams with equal talent went toe to toe and we came up one kick short in overtime.

I am ashamed of all of you!

Wipe your noses and quit crying!
