Sadly we were outcoached again...

All the QB's played scared because they were all playing against 1st and second round NFL defensive backs and they are not NFL caliber quarterbacks at this time.

Most QB's would have faired much worse than AJ

^^This is very true... AT THIS TIME. I think he gets there in a couple years. Next year is going to be tough. But 2013 he is going to be primed for another run.

Edit: we had 96 yards not 90.

Trent ran hard, but 96 is how much below our average? Don't know off the top of my head but its a lot

I agree its not normal... I feel this stat is different if he touches the ball a few more times. He had less yards against UT. I'm not suggesting anything other than WHAT IFS here. Trent said in an interview earlier in the week, with the game on the line I'll put this team on my shoulders. In the end he didn't get that opportunity. But look at the entire stats. He WAS our offense. Guys beast. Nobody in the nation as tough as that kid.

I think so too. He has the Brady calmness about him, but not lackadaisical or anything. He has two more years and could end up a 2nd rounder if he continues to improve, which is way more than enough to lead a team to a title.. No worry about him ending up a first rounder and leaving after next year though, he is not in the elite level, but definitely could have a better NFL career than Brodie or JPW. Be our best QB in a long time.

I think he just needs to trust that cannon of a right arm a little more and put some zip on the ball. He has very good pocket presence. Excluding the sack in OT.

Agree. Trent was best on the field.

Trent Richardson had 89 yards rushing on 23 carries. Not a bad day.

Not too bad, but not the results we needed. Far too many negative/short gains with a couple of brilliant long runs sprinkled in. Of course, we were playing an excellent defense, but we needed more from the running game.

We'd like to think we have a balanced offense, but when it comes right down to it, our bread and butter is the running game.

Please re-watch the game. He got stopped in the backfield a few times, but he had multiple runs of 10 or more. Twice in the 4th quarter... back to back runs mind you... he had runs of 9 yards. And the last time I checked, 3 yards a carry for 4 downs is 12 yards which gives you a first down every time.

He had one run of 24 yards and one run of 9 yards in the entire second half, both of which were tremendous efforts by Trent that very well could have been stopped for a loss. The other 9 carries were for 3 yards or less. After halftime, Trent had 11 carries for 34 yards, 2 runs for 33 yards combined, 5 runs for 11 yards combined, 4 runs for - 10 combined. LSU kept the D line fresh, and BJ's injury hurt our running game tremendously. He had much more success in the 1st half.

3rd Quarter

Trent Richardson rush for 2 yards to the 50 yard line.
Trent Richardson rush for 1 yard to the LSU 34.
Trent Richardson rush for no gain to the Alab 30.

4th Quarter

Trent Richardson rush for 2 yards to the Alab 27.
Trent Richardson rush for 3 yards to the Alab 48.
Trent Richardson rush for 24 yards to the LSU 28 for a 1ST down.
***This is where Maze threw the pick***
Trent Richardson rush for 9 yards to the Alab 28.
Trent Richardson rush for 2 yards to the Alab 41 for a 1ST down.
Trent Richardson rush for a loss of 6 yards to the Alab 35.
Trent Richardson rush for a loss of 3 yards to the Alab 32.
Trent Richardson rush for no gain to the Alab 22.

Well fellas... I'm out. I'm on a oil rig in the middle of Gulf. I work Midnight to noon (13 hours with daylight savings time) and I woke up early to watch the game. ROLL TIDE and can't wait to beat the DAWGS.

Were we watching two different games? Out coached? Really? As mentioned, if the execution of the right reads by the QB, the fundamental act of catching the ball and securing it to ones chest was executed by the players we'd be posting in a victory thread. The coaches and the playcalling put the guys in positions to make explosive plays and on more than two occassions the players "dropped the ball". Or at least that's what I saw.

When players don't execute it is hard for me to blame the staff. AJ makes the right read that's seven points right there. Maze throws the ball when he should have rather than sitting there waiting and waiting, Williams would have secured ball and pulled to his chest that's another seven right there. The field goal fiasco is on coach. I agree. But other than that the players had opportunities to win this game.

While execution is on the players, it's an unwritten rule that you don't stray too far outside your base offense in big games because executing plays, especially complex plays, you don't work on continuously can more easily blow up in your face.

Every time we reached LSU's 30-35 we tried to get cute and each and every one of them bit us in the butt.

That, I blame on the coaches.

Here's my "two" cents' worth...
No blaming necessary, enough fails for everyone to bear their share, except the defense. When you hold an opponent to 6 points in regulation, you should win, period.
Kicking, poor offensive leadership from both a coaching standpoint and players' standpoint (almost all on offense); I feel for the seniors, as they will be the ones to live with this, but I didn't see much leadership from the veterans on the offense (or from AJ, and even though he's young, he's the qb, he HAS to show some).
Defense can hold their heads up; offense, not so much. I don't give ANY props to the who D, even though they were good. Bama, IMO, didn't take advantage of opportunities that were there.

Just because some people don't post on here regularly doesn't make them any less of a Bama fan. My date of birth was 1/26/83, yeah you know what day that is. My first Iron Bowl I attended was the 85 one as a 2 year old. I bleed Crimson. If people want to occasionally get on here and vent about their team and stop in to say something every now and then, I don't think they should be judged as less of a fan, IMO.

Yep, our coaches seem to totally forget how great our defense is...we never once really leaned on them by punting, instead of the second and third long field goal, or by running Trent in OT and letting shelley (and shelley has been money from about 37 in) kick at 35 or less yarder. It was almost like we didn't trust our d tonight.

Another way to look at the decision was that he trusted our defense enough to risk the field position that would ensue w/ a miss. Let's give the field goals a shot because we'll hold them regardless.

amen. Defense did everything in their power to win this game.

playcalling and execution killed us in the other two phases.

The biggest error on exec by the defense was the block in the back by Chapman on Barron's interception. That cost us 7 most likely.

Look at it this way. Going for FG's instead of either pooch punting or going for it on 4th and 8 says "I trust my special teams more than I trust my offense to get the first down or score."

I doubt many minds will be changed by posts in this thread, but my opinion is that the coaching staff played not to lose rather than playing to win. When you play not to lose, you usually do.
