Sadly we were outcoached again...

Sorry a few people have the nerve to discuss or question lord Saban. He's not a god or something. It's like some of you worship him and get bent out of shape if anyone questions him. He is fallable.

You'll not find any evidence that I worship Saban or anyone else for that matter. However, you will not even have to dig to find my contempt for fair weather fans. Players and coaches win or lose as a team. Fans should win with grace and lose with class. Those who measure their self-worth by the performance of others should take a few days off ... maybe buy some vinyl patches for their girlfriend. I suppose that is clear but I could spell it out.

The funny thing is that if Micheal Williams comes down with that catch, this thread wouldn't exist. It probably wouldn't exist if AJ threw the ball to Norwood who was WIDE OPEN in the 2nd quarter. It also may not exist if Trent doesn't drop the pass in OT where he had at least 10 yards of grass in front of him. It was a conversative game plan, but it came down to lack of execution from our players.

I totally agree! Saban wasn't outcoached. The players were put in a position to win, and they did not execute. That happens sometimes in big games. LSU players made some huge plays when they had to. They deserved to win. Cross your fingers. We may get another shot at LSU in the big one. If not, then it wasn't meant to be. But I will still be behind our team and coaching staff. Remember, LSU is a great team, too.

All coaches make mistakes. Bryant, Royal, Paterno, Rockne, all of them. Did the staff make some questionable calls? You betcha. But the loss was a total team loss. The third kick is on the staff, but we could have overcome that we execution. It's time to destroy the maroon puppies.

Meh...putting your kicker in a position to fail time and again wasn't a smart coaching decision. 48 something yards on an average?! Stuff like this is magnified especially when the coach calls/demands for perfection all the time and blows a gasket in the sidelines when somebody makes a mistake.

I agree those who measure their self worth by what others do should take a day off. I also agree that I can't stand fair weather fans, those of us who suffered through the down years and still paid our dues, still showed our pride and still traveled to games get a little tired of everyone jumping on the bandwagon. I too think that fans should win or lose with grace and class. Blaming refs, TV wires, etc... is just excuses and makes for poor losers.

Now, with that beautiful commentary all said I have no idea what it has to do with questioning a coach's decisions. I just don't understand anyone who thinks you can't question the coach. Does that apply to all coaches? Was it ok to question Dubose or Shula? What about Curry or Perkins? Is it only Saban that is above question?

There were decisions made during that game that many people question. CNS is a big boy, I'm sure he could handle the questioning.

Can someone please tell me why we had 2 Time Outs with 1:20ish left in the 4th Quarter and didnt call a time out?? We also didn't even TRY driving the ball down the field at the very end of the game. I was at the game and so mad I couldnt control myself. I know McCarron wasnt playing well but you have to atleast TRY. I mean seriously.

Just think how excruciating it has been for the Monday Morning Arm Chair Quarterbacks of Alabama these past 5 years, in not really being able to second guess like they are accustomed to. It cramped their style and has built up a lot of energy. After going underground with the Shula firing, this is their coming out party :) The long honeymoon is over!

If we stop the clock there and THEN go 3 and out we have to punt back to L.S.U. and give them decent field position. The risk far outweighed the reward IMO.

There is not a coach on Saban's staff that doesn't make lots more money than me to coach and call plays for the team I support! If they are not waking up this morning second guessing themselves I would be amazed! Doubt anyone has started a Fire Saban web site and you are not likely to ever see one either. But why can't fans express their disappointment in the way a game was called or how a player performed. I guess fans have to be thick skinned as well because if you do have a differing opinion than another fan you will be called out and attacked just as a coach or a player may be. Talk about the pot calling the kettle black lol!

There has always been and always will be second guessing after a game by someone about something. If that ever stops the excitement and popularity of the game will be dead. And there will always be second guessers of the second guessers! Its what makes this sport so intense and addictive! ;)

With all due respect I disagree. With the game on the line in the 4th Quarter you've got to put the other team on its toes. It is offensive conservatism that hurts us when we get into a tight game. Theres nothing that we can do now to change the loss. I just feel that when you have the ball in the 4th Quarter with 1:20 and 2 time outs you have a shot to win the game with atleast a field goal. I love Saban and will defend him but I just do not see the reasoning or logic with not even attempting to drive the ball down the field. RTR

I can agree with that. I am not as much sold on the FG kicking decisions as with some of the play-calling and the entire offensive series in OT........not trying to get in field goal range with Trent leading the way. If we had abandoned F/G's without points to show, people would have really put the hammer on the staff. But, we had 2/1 opportunities to pull away but did not execute.....a painful amount. I really believe that the hype of this game hurt the home team more than the more shielded away team. Our team, coaches included, was not relaxed.

I understand your point. But if we turn the ball over down there, the other half of the fan base will say that was the most idiotic thing ever. We were on the 20yd line. And with our kickers we would've apparenlty needed like 55+yds to get into their range. I actually wished he would've went for it at midfield when we had 4th and 2 earlier.

I guess I could jump aboard any of the decisions that loomed big in the end. My biggest (well, now that I think about it there were several biggest) was not appearing to know what we were doing in OT. Do we not practice OT? Oh, I know we do. We just went out there with what appeared to be no plan. I know if only Trent could have caught the ball, yadda yadda. But a substitution penalty at that moment??? Seriously!

That is my only point - I don't care for the "scapegoating" tone posted by some (not all). There are enough questions to go around for everybody and like you, I suspect every player and coach on that team has been asking them of themselves since the clock hit zero.

One point - If Cade had hit one of those first two kicks ...

Yeah I felt like we had a shot on the 4 and 2. With the way AJ and the kicking game were going, the coaches probably did not have much faith that they could drive down the field and kick a FG to win. I just feel like you have to try in that circumstance. Either way, ROLL TIDE

The coaches can't be relaxed when their players aren't excuting and making killer penalties. They tried their "bread and butter" and we blew it. They tried to get "cute" and we blew that as well. We were our own worst enemy.
