Oh I agree. I said in a previous post I agree with everything he said EXCEPT for 2 loss clempson getting in. We are on the same page.
What you are missing is that this was the entire point of his statement - the rest was just explaining why Clemson should be in no matter what.

He said all of that other stuff to blind people into believing that Clemson should be in no matter what.

Even Dabo knows that Clemson is out if they lose a second time to Notre Dame. How deluded would you have to be to think that there is a ghost of a chance that they would take a 2 loss ACC team over a one loss SEC team (sarcasm emoji)?

Losing to Notre Dame twice shouldn’t count as quality losses, or as aggy fans call them, “adjusted” losses.

No, Ohio State should not get into the playoffs after playing only 5-6 games. Are they a good team? Yes. Do they deserve to play for the championship? No. They will have played 4-5 games less than everyone else in contention. That is half of a season. It is 4-5 games they didn’t have to play where they could have lost a major contributor like Waddle. If the BIG wanted to have a team in the playoff they shouldn’t have delayed their season so long. Sucks to suck.

If we let Ohio State play for the championship based on the “eye test” and reputation, why the heck did any team play any games this season? Why not have just let Ohio State play in the playoff after 3 games? 1 game? Zero games? Letting them play at this point just makes a mockery of the spirit of competition and makes everyone else chumps for actually playing a full conference schedule this year. Should have just let the committee vote for the national champion and be done with it. LSU could have had a repeat.

OSU should not be eligible for the CFP playing only 5 or 6 games. That’s not fair to all the other teams. I mean, why did the rest of us play so many games when only 5 would get you into the playoffs.

It is also not fair that the SEC is forcing Bama and UF to play this week while other playoff contenders get another week off before their conference title games. This is punishing SEC teams, especially since you really only need 5 games to make the playoffs this year. Why risk it with these meaningless games this week.

Florida showed us why playing games matter. We all just assume that Ohio State would have won all of those games that they missed, and that is probably true, but we can't know that. If we are going to say that Ohio State should be in the playoff because we know they are one of the best four teams and they don't need to prove it on the field, then why play games at all? Why not just pick the four best teams at the beginning of the season and go ahead and play them off for the championship? The rest of the teams can play for conference championships, rivalry games, and just for fun, but we will know the champion in September.

As I have said before the B1G admin are a bunch of idiots. They make rules and "oops" their way out. I would love to have their job. No accountability AT ALL. At first they were NOT playing. OOPS. We ARE playing. Ohio State CAN'T go. OOPS. Ohio State CAN go. They need to drop the B1G and become the OOPS Ten Conference.

Who wants to guess that your CFP rankings this week look like this:

1) Bama
2) ND
3) Clemson
4) Ohio St
5) Iowa St
6) aTm
7) Georgia
8) Cincy
9) Oklahoma
10) USC

I see both sides.

On one hand they definitely haven't put together a championship caliber resume. If you did a blind review of their schedule nobody would consider them -- if Purdue, for instance was 6-0 with their exact wins nobody would think for a second that they should be in. It's all about perception.

Everyone knows they have elite talent and have been one of the best programs in college football during the playoff era. And everyone knows Ohio State vs. Clemson or Bama would be a better game than Cincinnati or A&M vs. those teams. Because deep down I think they probably are one of the four best teams.

I'd feel more strongly about leaving them out if there was an obviously worthy team being treated unfairly. But TBH I don't think Texas A&M is better than Ohio State. I don't think Cincinnati or Iowa State are better. It's a weird year so I'm willing to roll with the punches.

I think we dust any of them.

I realize what I think doesn't matter but...it DOES seem to my simple mind that it's not really "right" to put in a team that played THAT MANY fewer games than pretty much everyone else. I realize also it's not their fault. But what's funny to me is this: when it became obvious there would be a season, there was (and is) already plenty of talks about invisible "asterisks" because of Covid. As I've stated clearly, that's bogus enough but let's say (for the sake of argument) Ohio St wins the championship. You've got this one relatively fresh team with a record of, say, 7 or 8-0 and other teams with nearly twice as many games in a sport with a high injury quotient like football.

That's just the part that doesn't exactly feel right to me.

BUT I will add this.......giving Clemson TWO mulligans for two losses to the same team is ten times more egregious than Ohio St making the field, too. The excuse before was "Sunshine was out." So if you lose again with Sunshine playing, you lost your excuse.

I WILL say that right now, we look like LSU did last year once they got past us -a team headed for a title, at which point the "whip out the asterisk" people will come right back. Of course, these same people will have NO PROBLEM if Notre Dame wins it.

It feels like we're on a path with no real other option other than Ohio State getting in.

I think both the Alabama and Ohio State games are the sort of game that the other team can't win, but Alabama or Ohio State can lose. They show up and play like they are capable, they are in.

The thing to watch is seeding. This is where Alabama could get screwed. Assuming Clemson wins and Ohio State wins, that doesn't mean Ohio State moves up. Alabama could get stuck playing a pretty fresh Ohio State team in the first round, while Clemson gets round 3 against Notre Dame. That sounds bizarre, but I'm not sure how they could possibly justify a 6-0 Ohio State over a 10-1 Notre Dame.

I'm just hoping Ohio State loses because after the Big 10 changed the rules and got them in the conference championship game, I just don't see how they are out if they win.

honestly I would be ecstatic to have ND in NOLA while Clemson and Ohio St beat the hell out of each other in Los Angelas. It’s justice served for the 2018 seedlings where Clemson practically got a bye.

I'll summarize and close with a wish.

What SHOULD have been done prior to the first game being played was an announcement that teams selected for the playoff had to be within a range of 20% of games played based on a Power-5 average. For example, let's say the overall average was 10 games, so you'd have to play AT LEAST EIGHT to qualify. Teams could play more but not play less. I say this because I'm sure there was a fear from day one, "We might start the season and not finish it."

There's also a part of me that DOES feel a bit of pity for Ohio St because it's not their fault the conference screwed them over with their procrastinating and insane protocols.

So I'll admit part of me wants the committee to sort of "stick it" to the Big Ten the way they did the Big 12 when they tried their end around in 2014 - and then have Ohio St sue the conference for lost finances due to incompetence.
