Tide coaches Lance Thompson and Bobby Williams recently visited Star Jackson and he assured them that he remains firm in his commitment to Alabama. Jackson is very confident in the 2008 recruiting class as a whole and he is looking forward to a very bright future at Alabama that he thinks will include a national championship.

I hope each commit is this confident...

He also says not to worry about BJ Scott,as he is just having fun with the process, but he is 100 percent solid

I'm excited to see what Star and the incoming class and the current team members will be able to do this year and in coming years.
Lots of recruits make statements and talk about how or why they like the school they commit to, but with this class, I get the distinct feeling that Star, Damian Square, Barrett Jones, Wes Neighbors, Burton Scott and others are sincerely geniune in their comments about their commitments and love for Alabama. They seemed to brimming with leadership qualities and a winning attitude which has been lacking for the most part in the recent past at BAMA. Can't wait to watch them play.

Goodness knows we need some team leadership out there. We've been lacking that for a few years. I think Mustin would have been a really good field leader had he been here longer to do so. Offensively, leadership has seemed to have been all but non-existant.

Like everyone else, I like to see these kids come in with alot of confidence and hopefully this plus a get it done the right way attitude along with the developement of good work ethic and commitment will translate into a resurgence of Alabama football.

Namath waited till he got to the Jets before talking about titles openly. Star is just getting an early star/t. :pDT_Armataz_01_34:
Ah, oh well.

Everybody is thinking it anyway, honestly, so no use being oblivious to the hopes of everyone. No one is getting fired up thinking, "Oh boy, we might finish 6-2 and maybe go to Atlanta!"

This class truly is special. It is full of intelligent, hardworking, super talented, LEADERS. A bunch of guys that are gonna do whats right and do the things Coach Saban demands. And when you have talented guys that will do what almost any coach demands good things will happen, but that's magnified with a coach like Saban.

I do feel like we're gonna have true leaders on the O line, and I think Star is certainly gonna be atleast as good a leader as Brodie to the offense.

By the time this team gets a QB to step up (Hopefully Star can do it by 09) we'll be a contender

Where ever there's BBQ, Bourbon & Football
With Saban's 07 class and now the 08 class we're quickly bringing in talent that will give us an opportunity to make some serious noise in the near future. There are even some players in this 08 class that could potentially one of those "electrifying" game changing type players. I think Burton Scott comes to mind first.

But we're quickly assembling some very good talent and the excuse of us not being as talented is quickly running dry. Thank goodness.

Just curious, but will Star Jackson be redshirted next year? ...or will he have the chance to be JPW's backup as a true freshman in '08?

Hopefully he's redshirted and if a backup is needed we can pull from our existing qb's. I'd like for him to benefit from one year of maturity both physically and mentally before using up a year's eligibility. But who knows I ain't the coach.

Yeah, there are about 8 players or so that could be big big contributors from the 07 class not counting Kerry.

After the 09 class Im thinking that we'll just basically be waiting for Star to be ready to truly take control of the position.

As for Star I doubt he redshirts. We have soooo much riding on him to be ready for the 09 season that I doubt we go into it blindly. And I think it would help with the recruiting of AJ McCarrons as we'll be able to promise him atleast 2 years of starting .

I seriously doubt Star Jackson redshirts his freshman year. A player with that much talent will want to see the field as soon as possible, and I'm sure Star Jackson has express those concerns to the coaching staff...

i don't care how much talent he has. we have three good QB's above him and he can have one extra year on campus if he redshirts.

We just can't help ourselves. When a new hot shot QB comes in we just forget about the others.:p_lol: Last year Fanuzzi was the best thing since sliced bread.......McElroy (The Texas Gunslinger) the year before!
One of those guys will be backup and Star will likely Redshirt.

Look at all the QBs from Elite teams this past year. Most of them, if not all had some type of playing time during their freshman year. Pat White, Dennis Dixon, Tim Tebow even Kodi Burns from Auburn. etc IMO feels like this is the best way to learn under center by being inthe game, while others feel like you might need to take a year and study an offense to be sucessful. Different strokes for different folks, but by reading comments from Star Jackson, he's ready to make an impact ASAP...

We sure do need a little clarity on that issue . It used to be alright ? Some are okay ? Depends on if it's an even or odd day ? Help ! I thought I knew the rules and did what I've always done a couple of days ago & the link vanished . How could I lend credibility to that particular post without a link ?

Anyway , I could PM S or C but , an answer on the board would help others .

I'd be absolutely shocked if they didn't find time to put Star in just to get his feet wet in a blowout or something. Because unless Fanuzzi or McElroy are absolute stars in practice or something, or unless Star is really lost in practice he will be our guy in 09 and I just don't think we just throw him out there as the guy without seeing what he has in a lesser role in 08.

Blowout? You mean, as in, US beating the daylights out of our opponent, right? Right??
