Has anyone seen his contract?!?! 6 years for 18.1 million! If he just got Auburn for 3 mil a year, imagine what the big names were asking from them!!

Could it be that Chizik is the only person that would take the job. Just wondering. I really don't believe they had a lot of big name coaches knocking the door down begging for the job. Would like others opinions.

I just ran the numbers, they are paying Chizik more than they ever paid Tuberville.
He's making more than Mark Richt, Steve Spurrier, Houston Nutt, and a full million more than Kiffin!
I mean honestly, how much do you think they offered the big names? If they had to pay Chizik 3 million to come back to Auburn, they probably were offering 5 or 6 to the big names. . .

Bingo. Outside of Muschamp, he's the only one that knows the mess that awaits him behind the scenes at Auburn. As many people have mentioned, coaches talk with each other all the time, and I guarantee word got out about how much control Lowder has over the program, thus severely reducing the interest of a lot of coaches.

A bad Aubarn team doesn't really help us in today BCS system, and I'm shocked with this hired, to tell you the truth.
I wanted to beat a OK Aubarn team every year.........

I've been lurking on some rival sites and barners are is disbelief. It is so dang funny reading some of the posts on those sites...lol lol

First, I have said before that Tubs was not a bad coach and probably had he gone along with the changes he was presented with he would still be the head Tiger. He however took the Shula, Croom, Cutcliffe stance and preserved his buyout.
AU was then faced with finding a suitable replacement in a year where there was very little movement and the pickens were indeed slim.
The suspects they talked with were mostly marginal (except possibly Patterson) and it became obvious that most of these guys knew the inside scoop on Lowder and his penchant for controlling all things Auburn. So in hiring Chizik they have someone who should be well versed in the internal problems of that program and it administration and is willing to take the plunge at $3 million per year.
I respect his record as a DC but he is about to be thrown in the tank with the sharks at feeding time. Three years at best, but $9 million richer not a bad deal.
