Trump's Policies XI

He claims not to have watched it to the end and didn't see the offensive part, and that it was put up by a staffer (wonder how many staffers are up at 2:00 AM and have the credentials to post in his name on "Truth Social.") IOW, it's a bald-faced lie, like most coming out of his mouth. IF what he said was true, he could apologize for having his staffer do it. Not him, not the way Kohn taught him...
I'm 100% glad that Trump posted this blatantly and abhorrently offensive racist stuff about the Obamas.

The Obamas are smart enough to let the filth speak for itself, and it's another vivid reminder to the public and the Republican legislators both that Trump is a next-level horrible human being, and a completely disconnected leader.

Trump's mental capacity is more dangerous than ever because he's the same guy only older and weirder, but this deterioration has seriously diminished his trolling game and turned it into a huge negative.

I'm an optimist. History says over and over that things can be really bad, but ultimately the public has a breaking point where it's all just too much. That's when the opposition party has a breaking point where they move away from their own absolutists or party cronies and gives the public the sanity it wants, just so that they can finally win one.

Hell, a major red flag for a guy like Trump is when the overwhelming majority of this thread is calling him out on a freaking Bama football message board! Not exactly Bernie Sanders followers on a Bama football board. I was a college Republican but I'm not brain dead; Ray Charles could see that Trump is a disaster.

So expect a fairly moderate, red state approved, less geriatric guy like Beshears to be the next Dem party flagbearer. Besides, the odds of Trump staying healthy enough to finish his term are not great.

from your mouth to god’s ears.

nearly 10 years of continually blowing through breaking points has left me skeptical. i do hope that point eventually does come though

You must be new here. This board is not conservative. It's open for debate for all, but it is a left leaning board with a few moderate posters and a few conservative ones.

I wonder how many Never Trumpers in the MAGA party shuffeled on to the Oh-Heck-Might-As-Well-Give-Up crowd. I keep waiting for any of them to show some cojones when it matters......not when they leave Congress, and let out their mea-culpas.

If condemning the posting and defending of a racist meme by the Trump Administration is virtue signaling, then the bar for “virtue” has sunk so low it’s underground. Calling out obvious racism from people in power is not performative morality. It is the bare minimum of civic responsibility. And if being openly disgusted by that racism means I'm part of the "approved crowd," count me in.

I don't think that a person should be judged based on not posting to a particular issue, but if someone has a history of many posts critical of Democrats while remaining quiet on clearly outrageous actions by Trump/Republicans (even with the occasional "I don't like Trump" disclaimer), then they shouldn't be surprised to find themselves associated with the MAGA crowd.

Libertarians have been inordinately quiet about Trump/MAGA abuses, yet never miss an ooportunity to miss an opportunity to rail against the commies and libtards in the Democratic Party.

I have an acquaintance who leans that way. Yesterday, he was all full of "I told you so!!" kind of stuff. As if he ever said anything negative about Republican abuses. I suspect many of that stripe are nothing more than closet Republicans. And with buyer's remorse.

You're not reading the tea leaves very well. I expect someone like an Abigail Spanberger or Mikey Sherrill, where they campaign on being a centrist, moderate Democrat and but as soon as they get elected they pivot into Zohran Mamdani-lite.

Hey - you guys want to know one libertarian/policy full conservative that isn't afraid to tell it like it is?

Thomas Massie is one smart son of a gun Republican, a true, old-fashioned conservative from Kentucky. Grew up as the son of a dad who worked in a beer distributorship, went to M.I.T.(!), and today called out Bondi like a surgeon with a very sharp knife:

That's a lot to unpack.

I know you said 'like them' and not them, but those two Dem Governors you cited just got elected and don't have the national profile or finances to run a national campaign any time soon.

And in my opinion you have Mamdani backwards. He has a history of off-the-reservation leftist proclamations, but so far as Mayor he's been chummier than he ever hinted with the existing culture, and has crawled pretty far up Trump's backside.

A pardoned January 6 protester has been convicted of molesting children.

In 2024, Andrew Paul Johnson pleaded guilty to nonviolent charges for entering the U.S. Capitol through a broken window during the Jan. 6 riot and then cursing at police officers trying to clear the area. Prosecutors said Johnson described himself on social media as an "American Terrorist" and "Proud J6er," and that he violated court orders by posing with a gun while his case was ongoing.

Chief Judge James Boasberg sentenced Johnson to one year in prison, in part due to Johnson's lengthy criminal history, including drug possession, driving under the influence and resisting arrest.

Trump has described the more than 1,500 people charged for their roles in the Jan. 6 attack as "patriots," and argued that they were treated unfairly by the justice system. "These were peaceful people, these were great people," Trump said in 2021.

Such a fine upstanding patriot.

A pardoned January 6 protestor who implored the mob to "kill them" while pointing at police officers, now works as a senior adviser for the Department of Justice:

Police bodycam footage introduced at the trial of Jared Wise showed him berating police officers on Jan. 6, 2021, and yelling "kill 'em" as rioters attacked law enforcement.

Less than five years after urging rioters to "kill" police at the Capitol, a former Jan. 6 defendant is working as a senior adviser for the Department of Justice, which has been dramatically remade under the second Trump administration.

NPR has obtained police bodycam footage from multiple angles of the former defendant and current administration official, Jared Wise, berating officers and calling them "Nazi" and "Gestapo."

LMAO, wasn't "kill the cops" part of the mantra of the BLM rioters? Absolute proof that the political spectrum is a circle. Go too far left from one side and too far right on the other and you intersect in the loser zone.

Generally and certainly on specific occasions? Yes!

Arrest the offenders. and sure as hell don't hire them to work for the DOJ. That goes for offenders from every political ideology.

The sudden and surprising airspace closure over El Paso, Texas, on Wednesday stemmed from the Pentagon’s plans to test a laser for use in shooting down drones used by Mexican drug cartels, according to three people familiar with the situation who were granted anonymity to share sensitive details.
