Yes, DeVo, it was a strange week in the state playoffs. I wasn't really sold on Huffman, but they seemed to handle Tuscaloosa County fairly well. Auburn is the huge surprise team, but Daphne will certainly put an end to them this weekend. Hoover-Huffman will be a huge game, but I don't know whether Huffman will be able to take this one.
In 5A, I was disappointed to see Wilcox Central lose, as they were my favorites to win, but at least the Castille boys played well in what turned out to be a close game. No offense to Homewood fans, but I hope Briarwood pummels them in the championship game, if it gets that far. Homewood is a tremendously talented team that has only been challenged once this season--a one-point win over Briarwood. I just get tired of seeing them blowout people week in and week out. It's time they met a real challenge again.
4A--what a shakeup. UMS-TR Miller rematch will be a dandy, a too tough to call right now. I'll be pulling for Jamie Riggs' Tigers, but UMS is TOUGH. They really blasted a solid Trinity team last weekend.
