That's why UNC feels like the perfect fit. Belichick is not going to mind this sort of thing. It's the whole reason he decided to give college a try in the first place. I don't know that they can afford to pay him $4M, but that ship may have sailed for him. He will end up probably having to take less money, but may end up in a better situation. If he lights up the ACC, then he'll be a top 5 pick next spring.
I heard West Coast? But I like this wrinkle. I still don't think Belichick actually coaches a down in College.

This is getting really interesting. Several schools have publicly announced they aren't interested.

Looks like it's coming down to UCLA -- which has its own experience with clan Iamaleava. Nico's younger brother Madden flipped from UCLA to Arkansas on signing day. Think UCLA just might remember that?

More interesting will be how UTe treats all this. As in, is the bridge really burned? I thought it probably was, but right now, it looks like both Nico and UTe are worse off.

If Nico doesn't find an acceptable landing spot, will he come crawling back to Knoxville? I doubt the father has it in him to allow that. But if he did, would UTe be amenable? If so, at what price?

Tangentially related, I saw where a Power 4 GM said that Nico's father was LaVar Ball without the charm. Anybody who remembers how obnoxious LaVar was during his sons' college recruitment and NBA evaluations will know how the GM feels about Nico's dad.

Buy popcorn. The next week will be fascinating.

If he were to come back to UcheaT, I bet it would be at a vastly reduced NIL deal than what he had. His camp made an idiotic move that is literally costing him millions of dollars. LOL!

Whatever happens, this might demonstrate that there is a cap to how much NIL money one can get.
I do not have any animus against the guy, but he could end up being a cautionary tale for those who overestimate their value and act on that overestimation.

I hope he goes somewhere like South Dakota St for a bag of peanuts and a hot dog.

The GREED is offensive.

Tenn needs to stick to their guns.

They just made the Playoffs and they’ll be able to get a portal replacement.

If I'm UcheaT (glad I'm not), I consider taking him back for half of what he was making. He is getting to experience firsthand what happens when you play stupid games. If he wants to come back and fall in line for half of what he was making, then I would consider that a point made and message delivered. I highly doubt he would ever agree to that, though.

If you do take him back, even at a discount, what do you think would happen if he starts to play well? You think he's going to just take what the deal was or do you think he'd sit out again to try to get his deal back?
