Empires of the Steppes: A History of the Nomadic Tribes Who Shaped Civilization by Kenneth W. Harl
You might enjoy the Fall of Civilizations podcast about Genghis Khan. I've gotten maybe 2 hrs in. I also have Genghis Khan and the Making of the Modern World by Jack Weatherford, but haven't read it yet.

I'm not familiar with that podcast but it sounds like something I would really enjoy. I'll put it on my to-do list.

I read the Weatherford book a few years ago and will soon read it again since I’m currently on a Central Asian history kick.
