What is your Game Week/Day like?

Since we are entering game week, I was wandering if you followed a certain routine during the week? Like do you wear a certain shirt on a certain day? I usually wear a bama shirt a couple times a week to work. On game day, my brothers and sister-in-laws come over, and we usually grill or have finger foods. I have a Big Al doll that plays Yea Alabama and rolls around. Whenever we score, my nephew pushes it. I feel it is going to get a lot of action this year! Ah, I cannot wait till Saturday!

I typically wear my BAMA polo on Friday. On Gameday, I will wear a specific pair of boxers, the same polo, and a certain pair of jeans.

For this week specifically, I typically don't sleep well on the first Friday night before the first game. But we're having daughter #2 on Wednesday, so we may still be at the hospital and exhausted. And as much as I love BAMA, I love my family more and will probably sleep well by the time Friday night rolls around! But hopefully we'll be at home by then.

God bless you and your wife. I hope everything goes smoothly. That may be the only Friday where you sleep good :).

Congrats AJ!! Great to hear that you have your priorities in order.

As for my routines/habits, it's horrible from a work perspective. I might as well just go on vacation from September through the first week of December. I can't get enough articles, radio, tv -- anything Bama during game weeks to the detriment of my work production. And, yes, I'm superstitious to the point of wearing the same shirt/hat/etc on game day as long as we keep winning...

Since I've moved away from Tuscaloosa, it's become a bit different. I get to two or three games a year, if I'm lucky. I usually have to settle for the closer road games like Arkansas and Ole Miss.

When I'm blessed enough to be in Tuscaloosa, I ususally get into town on Thursday night. I'll spend Friday around town, and on campus, wishing I was still a student. Then I head to either Deplama's, or the Cypress Inn, for dinner. Then it's out on the town for the rest of the night (The Houndstooth and Innisfree). First thing on Saturday morning, I head to The Waysider for breakfast, trying to beat the crowds. Then it's off to the Bryant Museum, then on to The Quad for tailgating (if friends are setting up). After that, I just mingle around campus, until The Walk of Champions. Then it's gametime.

It's a great drawn out affair that actually starts the day before getting food ready and setting up the ***OFFICIAL GAMEDAY THREAD*** which is locked and opened the morning of the game.

First thing I do is get coffee or a cup of hot tea then head for a computer to open the game thread unless someone has beat me to it.

Next is to make breakfast for everyone, I am still the best cook in the house and gameday requires fried or scrambled eggs, maybe omelets, sausage patties, bacon, grits or hash browns, maybe some pancakes and some fresh fruit. Breakfast has to hold me till lunch.

Then it's getting everyone dressed for the day. Wife and I in some Bama Gear and pets in their Bama stuff. This year Nina Dog will be sporting a crimson red mohawk hairdo that makes her look foolishly ferocious. Peppy Dog may wear his I Hate Michael Vick shirt or his Alabama tee shirt but someone will get bit putting it on him.

I have all the food and snacks set out or in the fridge for consumption, list of games and channels they are on is handy, roster is handy and jello shots are ready for each score.

Wow. That sounds like a fun day. I'm coming to your house :). I have to work just about every Saturday until Noon, but I get to leave early if they play the early game.

Sounds great! I cook breakfast for everyone on weekends, and our meal sounds very similar except for the hash browns and the grits - for some reason I can't get hash browns to turn out right, and unfortunately, my wife doesn't like grits.

I wear a 'Bama t-shirt, but not really a particular one. I used to be pretty superstitious about that, but I stopped a couple of years ago. The kids have their 'Bama gear on and my wife will wear her Baylor t-shirt until the 'Bama game comes on.

During the game, I can't have any kids on my lap or sitting in front of me or I might accidentally send them flying when I jump out of my seat, or land on them.

I have to have the remote nearby to quickly change the channel if the Jack Links Beef Jerky commercial with Bigfoot comes on - my 4 year old is terrified of him, but she likes watching football with us.

and jello shots are ready for each score.
Ha! I stick with beer during football games ever since the Alabama Tennessee game with 5OTs. That was a tough game in so many ways.

Big breakfast at the Huddle House (cook is a Gator fan and can really break an egg) then laundry, dusting, vacuuming, toilets and bathrooms. If I watch ESPN gameday it is only to see Coach Corso put on a mascot head.

For gametime munchies, it varies from game to game. Maybe cheese and crackers with fruit, maybe wings, maybe a couple of recipes picked up from the "Grillin and Chillin" forums.

No beer until kickoff, then only one per Alabama score. When ole' momentum swings our way there is much whoopin' and hollerin'. When he changes jersey, there is great anguish and gnashing of teeth.

Usually generation X (or whatever the 20 somethings are called) around my house find somewhere else to be on Saturdays in the fall. Except for the smart one. Last one you would have picked for a BAMA fan, but you never can tell and like I said, he's the smart one. ;)

I started off the week right wearing some black/white/red slacks and a white Polo w/ a crimson horse to work. I'm actually taking 1/2 day off Wednesday to go tour the stadium with a few people and then I'll be decked out again at work on Friday.

I'm assuming we'll leave by lunch headed to Tuscaloosa on Saturday, if not earlier. I can't wait!

Bama polo to work on Fridays, and a group of about 4-6 of us guys go to the Huntsville Dreamland for lunch. Two years ago I purchased a white belt and wore it for the Clemson game in 2008. I've worn it every regular season game since and we've yet to drop one (I forgot to wear it for the UF SEC championship game in 08 and was out of town without it for the Sugar Bowl :mad2:). I've never missed another game with it and it hasn't let me down yet. RTR.

We are going to the 1st two games this year, I am going to bring two of my crimson jerseys because I want to wear 85 for Penn State, I will wear 37 for San Jose State!

Gameday routine,

Let's see....

1. Starts with a shower and I have to dry off using the same Alabama towel each Saturday.

2. Put on my Nike tshirt with a large "A" on it that is completely worn out, but we are 26-2 since I bought it.

3. Breakfast at Sportsman's Park on the Elk River consisting of the following: Scrambled eggs, bacon, plain biscuit, three packs of grape jelly, and a sausage egg and cheese biscuit, and a mello yellow. Yes, this is a large meal, but quite possibly all I eat on gameday aside from cheese dip.

4. Ice down my beverages which must include at least 1 dos equis and one bud light NO MATTER WHAT...This is crucial. I am convinced these two items led to our National Championship last year.

5. Sounds crazy, but Vacuum the rug in our living room whether it needs it or not! This started because we always have company for games and wanted the house to look better, but I am scared to stop doing it now.

6. Read tidefans.com for any last minute news.

7. GAMETIME!

**Congrats to AJ by the way....

One beer per score??! Criminy. I drink one beer per game! And even then I hope (a) I don't fall asleep during the game; and (b) I don't have to unload the beer at an exciting point in the game.

Hrumph!! Young'uns!
