I think Tebow will prove to be the best SEC QB - using wining as part of the criteria - I was impressed with him and certianly do not want him to get hurt

The preceding opinion was MINE so don't freak out

Although I think he will play with a huge target on him (meaning the hype does drive LB's and DE's, especially, to ramp up their game and try to make Tebow's Saturdays unbearable), ol' Tim is a well-conditioned, smart, talented ballplayer. Personally, I can hardly wait to see what he can do...and I'm glad he won't be doing it against us this year.

I'm with you Bret!
No, none of us wants to see the kid get hurt....But I am a little anxious to see him get humbled on occasion this year. All this hype he's attained over a few short yardage runs and an ugly jump pass? In some of the press photos, internet articles and interviews I've seen.....Tebow seems a little "full of himself" and getting a "fat head" from all the "sunshine everyone is pumping up his butt".
Let's see what the kid can do over a full grueling SEC season and some really big games along the way.
Yeah, I'll say it..... I'd like to see an end or backer get to him with a full head of steam and fold him up a few times. Deflat that ego a little!!

Would you have started this thread if he were our starting QB?
It's probably based on last year where he played like a FB - If we had a QB that was used to run up the middle..etc then it would have been a legit question also.

I think it was the way he was used last year that would make one wonder if he could take that punishment all year

Thank you.

No of course I would not have started the thread if he was ours. The fact is he plays for a team in the SEC which I cannot stand. You won't find me rooting for many teams outside of BAMA. I'm sorry I just choose to be loyal to crimson and white, I also choose to call out those who oppose Bama that think they are God's gift to football. I think the kid is full of himself and I think someone is ready to bring him down a notch.

Fair enough, but I think that you might be surprised at how many players wearing Crimson lack the humility that you seem to be looking for in an athlete. We lift athletes up their entire adolescent lives, and it gets worse as they get older. By the time that they graduate from HS, they are almost revered. Very few accomplished athletes retain anything that most of us would recognize as humility...

anyone who thinks they can play QB for a major college football team better be a full of himself - You don't think JPW has an ego that says 'I am good enough to play QB for THE Alabama Crimson Tide' that is ego & confidence

Do you not think Saban has an ego. You have to an ego and think you are better than the others or you will not be better than the others.

I haven't seen anything that makes me think Tebow has anymore ego/confidence than JPW.

All football players are full of themselves - They can't sit around and say I am not as good as those guys.

Don't freak out

I don't think anyone actually wishes for TT to get hurt, but don't tell me any fan for any team isn't yelling for their team to win and thinking / saying / yelling, "kill that SOB" when referring to a player on an opposite team having a good day against your team. Not actually meaning to kill, but to hit them hard and knock them down so they have to punt.

Good luck TT, now will someone on the other team ring his bell !

Last I checked, this is football, hitting hard and often is part of the game.

There are gonna be plenty of hits on TT this coming year, question is who is gonna get up?

I will agree that athletes are full of themselve. It's just that in my opinion Tebow has thought a little more of himself that he ought. He's good but he's not the best QB to walk on the field by any means. As far as him getting creamed, I be that if you sat down with the Auburn defense and asked them "Raise your hand if you would love to put one solid lick on the Bama Qb and knock him out" I guarentee you the room would be full of raised hands.

I wonder how many people around the country thought the same thing about Tyrone Prothro being "knocked out." Some of you people amaze me.
After the Florida game I had to attend a school function with one of my kids and was talking to some friends about Pro's injury. One of our Tenn friends overheard us (he had not seen the game) and said "I hope it's broke good and doesn't get to play again".

Every time I see him to this day I think of his classless comment.

Having said that I believe TT is the real deal and wish him well in all games except one.

Come on Bama fans show a little class.

I'm confused (no wisecracks). But did Tebow build himself up by bragging and trash-talking or has the media done this?

He plays with confidence, excitement, and even boldness but that doesn't equal self-centeredness.

I actually was very impressed with Tebow during the recruitment process. He seemed humble to me. I wish he would have put on the Crimson Cap.

Sounds like sour grapes to me.

The point is all the hype placed on Tebow and the kid hasn't even played a full game or season yet!!!

Confidence is one thing..... I definitely think you need it to play major college football, but being too arrogant or cocky is another..... He seems to be buying into the hype of the media and "drinking his own kool-aid these days!! Being too egotistical is destructive to a team. "The is no "I" in team". and I think Mr. Tebow will learn this the hard way this year.

To me, this has nothing to do with BAMA. But since the can was opened...I'll wade in. Huge ego's are not a prereq. for a QB.
JPW in interviews or on the field does not come across as arrogant or too cocky....

I can name an Alabama coach that has yet to coach a game but is getting hyped like he has won muiltiple championships - Hype is all part of it - It sells magazines. I think I have seen him some covers but he hasn't coached a college game in several years at least Tebow played in a college game last year

There is no 'WE' or 'US' in team either.

a. Where did the Tebow arrogance/cocky stuff come from - is there an article somewhere or it is based on something he said - I never saw anything that said he was full of himself - Just an exciting young man

b. If you do not like cocky & arrogant you may not like our new coach. I never met him personally but have heard him described as arrogant FAR MORE than I have heard the term applied to Tebow. I am just repeating what I have heard and read don't know either person on a personal level.

read it slow - Don't freak out

Well if you look at his Myspace page he has pics of himself with his head photoshoped on top of Superman's body. He refers to himself as "The Chosen One". When you've played a few downs in a few SEC games regardless if you've done well that should not be the go ahead to start presenting yourself as the best there is. My whole point for this thread was to simply state that often times people who stand on the street corner telling everyone how good they are sometimes get their mouth shut for them. Regardless of how anyone feels it will all be settled on the field.

course we don't play 'em but I am not opposed to knocking them around to the point the see stars/woozy but no real hurting

and for god sakes do not hurt the other teams feelings by celebrating a great play or taunting them. Just knock 'em woozy but do not hurt their feelings you will get a penalty '15 yards Disregard for feelings'

Nobody should be pulling for an injury of any player, ever, period. I am a Bama fan, but also a fan of the sport in general. I want to see good football played out there, watch competitive games, and get the thrill of a well-played matchup, even if the result is not in my team's favor. The day I start wishing an injury on anyone so that my team will have a better chance is the day I stop watching the game. Come on people.

I may be wrong, but I don't think one player is going to knock Tebow out of a game. I think it would take at least two defensive players.

Tebow's a big guy. If he weren't a QB, he could play fullback.
