Do we any update on J Hicks LB. He is suppose to make his decision this week if he is visiting us or not. He says his visit to UF on Dec 12th will be his last so if he does visit it will have to be this weekend for our last home game or for a no game weekend. This article also sais that his mother will move to wherever he goes to school.

I'm still good :biggrin2:, but I decided I'll sit out of the back and forth with John Fulton until he announces. Am I still confident? Absolutely :biggrin2:
Hey Blake, hope you didn't get your hopes up too much. I tried to warn you 2 months ago that this was over. You guys still are pulling in a solid class though.

RTR!

(A possible surprise coming soon ;))

Amhad Dixon, would be a nice addition to our class.

Rivals Premium Article: Dixon's recruiting takes another twist
Dixon is one we really need to keep our eye on. I was afraid he would end up at Auburn, but it's an Alabama v. Tennessee battle right now and he'll end up at one of those two. I honestly think I've got a better chance of ending up at Baylor than he does.

And frankly, if you think about it, even with Berry leaving, the Vols don't necessarily have the depth card to play like you might initially think. Woodall is gone after this year (just like Berry), and Jarrick Williams will probably end up at outside linebacker.

We have a tad bit more depth at safety than Tennessee does, to be sure, but given that the Vols still have Janzen Jackson, Darren Myles, and Nyshier Oliver -- all three of which were highly-touted safety signees in the 2009 class -- so it's not likely he has guaranteed immediate playing time in Knoxville either. And also, you have to consider that if Barron plays next year like he did this year, he'll be leaving early to go to the NFL.

On the Rivals national recruiting board, analyst Mike Farrell says Dixon is concerned that Baylor's Art Briles will bolt for Texas Tech, and that Alabama is 2nd and Tennessee 3rd (which, regardless of whether Briles leaves, may actually mean Bama is the leader).

I am hearing now that Dixon is visiting us on the 22nd and to USCw on the 15th. I am also hearing he has now decommited from Baylor. It looks to be a battle between us and UT, also USCw, Auburn, and TTech he is looking at. I think we have a very good shot but I guess it depends on how hard we go after him. If he plays in the SEC I believe he is ours.

RB Mustafa Greene was on the early Bama prospect list. It appeared that he was no longer interested in Bama a while back so he was removed. Then recently he listed his favorites as NC State, Georgia, Alabama, Rutgers and Auburn. He says that he is going to visit Alabama in January. I put him back into the 2010 Alabama Commitments and Prospects List thread which is a sticky thread at the top of the board. Most do believe that Bama is through with RB prospects but he seems to still be considering Bama.

Any word on B Sims. The UT fans are all excited because CLK and CEO are visiting him home tonight. I guess it is easy to excited since they have missed on 75% of the people they have gone after.

If the DAWGS can't turn Blake away from BAMA...then I don't think Lane Cuffem will be able to. Not trying to jinx it or anything but it would probably take one of those UGLY orange Lamborghini's to get Blake to wear that prison issue color rather than Crimson.

When you look at Surfer's list of remaining prospect offers you see we are basically down to about 9 real possible prospects. In order of their likelihood to commit (only gleaned as a possible consensus of what has been said by our recruiting gurus here at TideFans) they are:

1. C. J. Moseley
2. James Stone
3. Arie Kouandjio
4. Christian Jones
5. Ahmad Dixon
and 6 thru 9: Dequan Menzie, Mustafa Green, Johnathan McKnight and Damien Robinson.

Having just won the non mythical national championship, one would have to like our chances with say 3 or 4 of the top 5. And having just won the NMNC could give us the chance to turn the head of someone like a Hicks, Gholston or Hankins. Because it is a position of need, I also now give a chance to gaining ground on Jeffrey Whitaker. Since he isn't playing in the HSAAA game, it might be difficult for Taurice King's stock to rise. But, if we miss on Moseley and/or Jones, I think we could well see a Petey Smith deja vu thing.

Whatever happens between now and signing day, we are going to have a great class of recruits. In 2 or 3 years, several could well be playing for another championship.

At my age I had all but given up hope I would live to see us win another NC. Now, not only have I seen it happen, I believe I might see another one. Not supposed to, but I had a toddy last night and plan on having 1 or 2 more while I call some old Bama and UT buddies tonight. :):biggrin2::biggrin::D

Who will be the Tide's final commitments?

When do we expect the final guys to commit? It's common knowledge on who we will likely finish with but do we expect commitments on or before NSD? If any idea put name w/ commitment date.

I'm not so sure it's common knowledge how we round out this class. What are your thoughts on how we finish the class out? Not sure if the situations as USCw will have any impact or CKS considering his future with us will play a role. Blake Sims was a shock to me so now there is one more spot to think about. :BigA:

re: Who will be the Tide's final commitments?

I think at this point, most athletes will wait for NSD. I haven't heard if any will commit before. Like Mayberry said, I think there will be plenty of decommitting and switching over the next few weeks. Hopefully the NCG influenced some kids this year, but I expect next year's class will be influenced more by the NC.
