Stop saying stuff like this. Nobody should genuinely want Dabo Swinney to be Alabama’s next coach, unless you just want to watch the program fall completely off the map.

That's a lot of hyperbole.

He'd have far more resources at Alabama than he had at Clemson. This is literally comparing Spurrier at South Carolina to what he'd do at Alabama. Shula won 10 games at Alabama, Dabo is an infinitely better coach than Shula. Having said that, obviously there's a risk but the floor is much higher for Dabo than some other names thrown around. The guy still has the 12th ranked recruiting class for 2024, at Clemson. Ole Miss is 20th...

Of course Lanning currently has the 6th ranked class. I get why he's an attractive hire, but if Phil Knight opens the bank who knows, he might end up off the table.

I just think there are much riskier hires out there than Dabo, like Kiffin.

As far as Ryans, I've seen his name thrown around. I think he's the Alabama needs help type of hire, I don't think you put up the batsignal just yet. Alabama has all the talent they need, they just need someone who knows how to use it. That's one reason I think Dabo is more attractive than Kiffin by the way. Because I know Dabo can win it all with elite talent and Alabama has elite talent on campus.

Lanning though, he seems like the most likely to be able to keep the recruits coming in and to use the portal well.

The owner went in a different direction and was trying to jumpstart a rebuild, hence the AJ Brown trade (when it happened).

He's probably in front line for the Patriots gig anyway.

I loved DeMeco as a player and by all accounts he has a bright future in coaching, but a guy with one year of HC experience in the NFL and no college coaching experience is too risky. The last Bama alum we hired who had no college experience didn’t pan out too well. Plus, I think they move quickly (truthfully the guy is probably already hired) and that doesn’t line up with the probable timeline for an NFL coach in the playoffs. DeMeco might be our guy one day and I’d love to see it happen, but I don’t think it happens this time around.

Valid points, but Saban has made Bama an international brand. He would not just be recruiting the South. He could overcome the lack of connections by hiring assistants who have those connections.

Hell of a football coach. Tough-minded teams. Made Henry king too . All in all, college football is becoming more like NFL with NIL money and transfer portal being like free agency so might as well go that route.
