I was being sarcastic when I said a couple names but if we're being realistic but also talking about just blowing people's minds.

Dabo: Despite how a lot of Alabama fans feel about him, a coach who won two titles at Clemson leaving would be massive news.
Coach Prime: He's a circus everywhere he goes
Ryans: Successful young NFL coach leaving for his alma mater

Those are a couple names I would add to the shocking list.
But I guess the most shocking would be Urban Meyer.

If you ignore all the red flags, he checks all the boxes.

Three national championships.

I feel about him the way some people feel about Dabo, he's a walking red flag. But man can that guy coach. He's 59 so if he wanted to give it a go again, he certainly could.
Urban would have to introduce himself at the bars as Joey Freshwater Sr. 🤐

If you are to compete in the new NIL era, the current collegiate model does not work and wont work. If you are to reinvent what it should look like and there are very few rules prohibiting you, now is the time to do it and you want Saban doing it.

Herm Edwards at ASU was a man before his time...

What's preventing Saban from starting his own agency and steering recruits to Alabama much like a GM would? Who would not sign with his agency? Other schools are already using NIL to steer recruits to schools, recruits have agents already doing this. He would have NIL deals arranged for his player-clients.

I think we are about to see college football reinvented...

I hadn't thought of this but immediately loved it when I read this; but then my style is to love almost any divergent thinking.

Makes a ton of sense if your program can afford both a top tier HC and top tier GM...

Most of them have listened... Everyone except Ryan Williams.
As much as I actually wanted Lanning too replace Coach Saban..

As good as he has been at Oregon, Alabama is a different beast when it comes too college football, it's a job you can't learn as you go type job gaining experience & he knows that..

It will eat up a younger inexperienced HC..Ask Mike Shula..JMO
Lanning has two years head coaching experience, Cannot trust that as his qualifications

If some of these names that are being floated as potential candidates/interviewed, the Eeyore's might be right in how much of a train wreck this could become and in my mind would be an epic failure. We don't need, nor are we are a place to learn on the job. We need an established head coach and recruiter of this area that can keep the monster churning, and you can't tell me that one of the top names won't take the job. Everyone of them that should be at the top of the list...Kiffin, Sark, Dabo, they all have baggage, but I just don't believe it if one of them wouldn't come running if offered the job. Will they ever be CNS, no, but the program won't fall off a cliff and we will still win at a high level and probably win a couple more national championships during their tenure.

I understand all the angst here. Us old-timers (I’m 62 and have been a fan since 1970) have PTSD from the post-Bryant years, the probation years, the Shula (gasp) years. This brings back some very bad memories.

But Saban has built Alabama into a perennial (if not THE perennial) program in college football. It’s not like when Bryant retired in so many ways. We are in such a better position, in facilities and in other ways. Everybody isn’t hollering “nobody but one of Bear’s boys!” constantly. It’s a different era. Saban has built the program into something that extends far beyond the brand. That’s important to remember. In 2006, we were in a shambles! That’s not true now.

The issue is, who is willing to take the reins from a legend? Any successful coach with enough drive will want this job. How many up-and-comers have we seen in the past 10 years? They’re out there. And I think one will have the confidence to take this job. He’d be crazy not to, if he wants to reach the pinnacle of college football.

"Chris Low said on Sirius XM channel 84 that the two candidates he’s hearing the most of is Norvell And Deboer. He also mentioned Locksley and Rees as guys that will interview"
Locksley and Rees; you can't be serious Clark?
Well, if that's what we've got I hope Debour says yes.

Joe Klatt's thoughts on the Alabama search. He feels Kalen DeBoer will be the next Alabama coach. But here's what Klatt's says as well, which about half makes me sick for some reason.

Klatt knows nothing don't know how he ever got a job covering college football

We wont ever know if those three were approached, unless it's let out............I think Kiffin would come in a heartbeat, Dabo might, but I aint sure Sark would leave Tejas unless there are issues we dont know about
