Unpossible, no one ever improves!
The comments are somewhat surprising, but not much.
Anyone remember a guy named Joe Burrow? More specifically, ‘memba him the season before LSU won it all? He couldn’t hit the side of a barn standing six feet from it. A lot of us were impressed with his toughness because he got hammered all year, but no one expected him to do what he did the following season. Yeah, he had all world receivers (as did Mac/Tua) but he improved his accuracy beyond what most people believed he would.
JM can do it, and although I haven’t seen enough to compare their arms, JM doesn’t give up anything with his physicality.
I’m gonna call it now - JM starts, and plays until he flounders. I don’t know if Saban benches him for a fumble or an interception, unless it’s a really bad decision. Unless there are a lot of really close wins in the first four or five, he won’t lose his job until Bama loses unless the offense sputters…pretty much at any time after the first game. Simpson has to light it up whenever he gets in the game; I don’t know anything about him or his character, but I doubt he willingly rides the pine all year and stays. Part of me wishes he would follow Mac’s path, but that might be a fantasy; again, I know nothing about him so anything is possible, as are (God forbid) injuries.
But barring any major roadblock, I think JM starts and plays as long as the team does well offensively. If TS gets a chance due to injury or a sluggish offense, I think he has to produce to take the top spot.
My two cents.
