As expected, Clowney picks USCe

carolina fans are delusional about clowney.the word is they are telling clowney that they have achieved several goals and will compete for a nc if he plays for carolina. they countered our visit he had with us by having a sit down with ellis j. and the basketball game with kentucky. i am a little frustrated with clowney bc inside info. here in south carolina is he is usc all the way,so why wait. it is almost like he is loving the attention and making them sweat.
usc is feeding bull to clowney talking to him about how they won the east and all and the national champ. is next. the fact is they lucked into the sec champ. bc so many east teams lost. who can lose to kentucky and still go to the sec champ. and they lost their bowl game. i have been to many carolina games, they fall apart when one thing goes wrong. ex. bomb thrown at sec champ. were only down 7, gave up after auburn scored right before half. lost to kentucky after beating us, gets blown out of their own staduim by arkansas who we beat at their house, and to top it off at the bowl game they fell apart after lattimore got hurt. nothing will change even if they do get clowney, they will win some big games but they are telling recruits they are going to win a nat.champ. clowney will miss us when we are catching confettin again and he is at home at least making his mommy happy. oh carolina fans are also saying his mom will make him go to carolina. yes i am a house divided bama-carolina

I wouldn't worry about USCe too much. They are a school that talks a big game but lacks the punch. While I can't know for a 100% certainly, I can pretty much guess/expect where Alabama should be in each of the following years. I expect to challenge/win the West division, the SEC Champion, a BCS Game and even the BCS National Championship. That is not an empty promise, like USCe, that is an expectation. USCe doesn't even know where it will be at the end of 2011. They don't know if they will win the east, play for a SEC CG, or even play in a BCS game. If Clowney wants to go to USCe, that's great and I wish him luck but as long as he knows that the chances of him playing for championship are quite a bit lower at USCe than at Bama more power to him.

I want him but unfortunately he is more vital to USCe than he is for Bama.

I just hope he seriously announces his decision on his birthday as a man. That's the time to make his own decision. All the sales pitches aside, what's more important for him in his value system. A better draft position and more money after 3 years + at least 1 NC ring, or 3 years playing close to home + 1 atlanta visit?

i think he's usc bound and always has been. just playing bama like a few have done in the pass. that other school likes for theirs to tie up our coaches and which they were never coming to bama.

He is more vital to USCe and will be part of its undeniable improvement "process" regardless if they win a SEC championship or not. Recruiting a player of his caliber to play for the home school legitimizes the Gamecocks in the eyes of every future standout Carolina recruit.

I'm not ready to concede him yet.

His recruitment kind of reminds me of Tebow's. Incredible talent coming out of HS we gave it the best run we could but will fall short behind the expectations of staying in state. I don't really think he is playing us, I think he is seriously looking at Alabama but at the same time I just think the pressure to play at USCe and stay close to home will be too much. I really hope I'm wrong but my gut tells me he is USCe all the way.

One thing that amazes me is how many top players we actually have a shot at landing. Even if we don't get them all CNS has done an excellent job of getting us in the door with some great HS recruits. The recruiting run that CNS has put together since 2008 has been astounding.

The fact is wherever he goes he will need to develop. Yes he will be a great player, they are expecting him to be a Lattimore on their defense. I just do not see it as a freshman in the SEC. I am sure he will have a good freshman year at USC but the next will be the year he shows why he is number 1. The problem for USC though is that year they will no longer have Jeffreys, Gilmore, Garcia and a few more. If you also look at the talent in SC after this year it really drops off at the HS level. As I have said before if they can not start pulling top out of state talent it really will not matter if they get JC. Right now the best prospects for 2012 are a few out of NC and NJ. Until they start pulling players out of GA and FL it will not matter.

Because we are USC and we lose juniors early, its reasonable to assume that Alshon leaves early along with Gilmore. The fact that Michael Floyd, Justin Blackmon, and Ryan Broyles all came back for their senior seasons helps us a little bit though with next years WR draft and keeping Jeffery. I expect him to bolt but the opportunity to play with his brother and perhaps be the clear cut #1 WR after his senior year might be enough to get him back. If Jeffery comes back, I doubt any junior leaves early. Gilmore can't play 2011 like he did 2010 or he won't be drafted as high as he would like. DE Devin Taylor will be another eligible player. I think it really depends what kind of year 2011 is like also because keeping every eligible junior would set up a stacked team for 2012.

As far as JC's impact as a frosh, I see him playing on obvious passing downs to start the year and as the year goes on maybe he takes on a more full time role but I think he has to bulk up a little more in order to do that. His soph season is when he is going to dominate people.

As much as I would love to get him...I don't Think we will! I heard reports that he drove to SC to watch the basketball game and received a hero s welcome...I just don't believe he would go to their basketball game if he knew he was headed to Bama! Just my 2 cents, but it sounds like he is telegraphing his pick! I hope I'm wrong...

Roll Tide Roll!

Unfortunately, I think you're right and we, as a fan base, will have to get over it. I am excited about NSD just so all the "Re: DE Jadeveon Clowney Updates" will stop appearing on my Evo phone...

Coach Shula gave Tebow his very best shot but Tebow and his family were diehard Gators fans from the beginning so it was a big uphill battle from the start. The thing about Tebow's recruitment though is when he finally had had enough of the recruiting process he went ahead and committed to Florida well before signing day, early in December if my memory is correct.

Clowney on the other hand truly seems to be torn or why else would he put South Carolina through all the angst. Tebow I believed loved Shula but I think Clowney loves Bama and what Bama has got going on right now. I think if he really loved USCe the way Tebow loved Florida his recruitment would have been over long ago. JMO

I know its not the right thread but do people in SC really have any faith Jefferey turns down a top 5 draft position to come back for a senior year. I never bought it with Julio or AJ, but I guess hope springs eternal.

Jefferey was a sophomore this year and Lattimore a freshman. How can we possibly know who is going to be the next stars after they leave?
