Re: Cyrus Kouandjio commits to the barn/ Reports are that he has not faxed his LOI in

It could very well play out that way. But every situation does't work itself out that way. There are times when decisions are made based off of outside pressures that go against what one really wants to do and once into that decision one looks back and says "I wish I would of...".

I think with him stepping back and getting a breather he'll make the best decision for him.

This may sound philisophical, but I've learned in life there are not always clear-cut right and wrong decisions. There are decisions to be made then you can either make it right or let it go wrong. I think CK will make it right wherever he chooses. I don't think he'll go to one school or other, get on the football field and say, "Man, I should have gone somewhere else." He will bond with whatever team he plays on. Develop friends at whichever school he attends. He'll play on either team because he is that good. There might be conveniences from one school to another, but we can't make decisions purely on conveniences. I feel bad for the guy. I know he is an emotional guy and it is hard to feel what your heart says sometimes. FWIW, I hope he come to Bama, but he will do well wherever he chooses.

Re: Cyrus Kouandjio commits to the barn but he has not faxed his LOI in

Not sure how it wouldn't if he were 18. Regardless of what the NCAA's requirements are, if he signs any document that involves a promise on both sides of a reasonably equal value the promise would be legally binding and a court would have a very difficult time striking it down if one party wanted to hold the other to it. And IMO that's regardless of whether the agreement itself states that it isn't binding, because the clear expectation of both parties at the time of signing is that it is binding (parties' expectations, assuming they can be proven, always trump boilerplate language on a contract).

The only way the NLI (and NCAA) would get their way and bypass contract law would be by forbidding the school from suing to protect the school's contract rights. That approach sounds ridiculous at first, but given the NCAA's stance on basic constitutional rights like free speech (disallowing fan tweets, etc.), it's more than likely. Basically, the student athlete retains his rights while the school's right are subject to the NCAA's wishes as long as it wishes to participate in NCAA sports. Not quite as communist as the NFL system, but not exactly an American-style market either.

He's only 17. He can't enter a binding contract except for life's necessities. I don't think a grant in aid would fit that, even though it does involve food and shelter. It involves much, much more than necessities...

Re: Cyrus Kouandjio commits to the barn/ Reports are that he has not faxed his LOI in

I agree. His parents should have been apart of that process. But ultimately what needs or needed to happen is that him and his family sit down, layout ALL the information, experiences and scenarios from his visits. The parents input their feelings and thoughts but then back away and say "Cyrus, here's ALL the information and opinions regarding this there is. So with all this information YOU make the decision where YOU want to go to college."

And then, if his decision isn't the right one, the parents should step in, and say, "Sorry, wrong choice. The right choice is _____, so that is what you'll do." {I'm kidding, but that is too often the case}

Re: Cyrus Kouandjio commits to the barn/ Reports are that he has not faxed his LOI in

CK's been given a second chance here. He had people around him who will sit down and make the best decision. it may still be Awbie.

Does anyone have a source on this? Other than twitter.

I think people like to scream contract law and constitutional law but yet fail to understand it so explaining to him might be futile. But inregards to the NCAA they are following more the federal laws regarding dependant staus for education. The same laws that allow someone to stay on a parents insurance while in college or family to draw social security will their child is in school. Also financial aid requires a student to show their parent sincome up toi I think age 23 or 25 before they can apply for financial aid on their own.

Re: Cyrus still unsure.....

A guy on a barn board posted a tongue in cheek(I think ) report about pulling Arie's scholly. The board fell lock step behind believing it has merit

Has been informed that his scholarship will be rovoked if Cyrus goes to AU. Also understand New York Times will be doing article on sabans immoral recruiting tactics. I can't believe it either. Absolutely amazing.

There is no way that this is accurate. At most there may have been veiled threats to this effect,, but for them to come right out and tell Arie that if Cyrus doesn't sign with Bama they will take away his scholarship would be suicide as far as the NCAA recruiting rules are concerned. Pulling someone's scholarship because they failed to convince their brother to play for the same school is a blatant violation of NCAA recruiting rules. To say this point blank just arms Arie in the event that they do try to pull his scholarship. Saban may be evil, but he ain't dumb.

And to think I posted yesterday that todays signing day would be relatively quiet. Sheesh was I wrong.

Re: Cyrus Kouandjio commits to the barn but he has not faxed his LOI in

no inside source or facts to back this up, but my gut feeling has been that he has some reservations about competing with his brother (maybe he's afraid he'll push his brother out of a starting spot) and Auburn capitalized on that. I think a lot of other schools that he might have considered backed off because they thought he was an Alabama lock, but as we know, Auburn does not back off (in fact, they seem to really relish going hard after kids who have made verbals to other schools). I hope for his sake that he takes his time, regroups, and goes somewhere that both he and his family can be excited about.

I have seen a lot of talk about Ari playing LG and Cyrus playing LT both would be starters.

So what is the latest?? Still waiting on word about him signing th LOI??? A friend just told me that Finebaum confirmed he is going to Auburn but I take that with a grain of salt.

What a crock!! Arie was an elite lineman who could play guard or tackle..

Re: Cyrus Kouandjio commits to the barn/ Reports are that he has not faxed his LOI in

I think any kid talented enough to make the Bama team and be a part of it over the coming four years will not regret his decision. The next four years seem like an especially good time to be here.
I just don't think the barn's prospects are as good for the same time span, all things considered.
