He was balling today, I was very proud I think we are fine at the QB position no matter what.
There ARE issues to worry about before the '20 season...but QB is not one of those. By now...we all know that Defense is......a huge issue...but they won a dogfight today. Wasn't pretty until you consider what HC and what fanbase it was. I live amongst them, and I Expect the flags won't be flying tomorrow. I love it:devilish::D:geek:

I forgot to give a Ramma Jamma Give 'em H*** Alabama!!! Always good to beat Meeshagun.

I’m so glad that we won today. Our guys hung in and played hard. As much as I wanted to play for a title, playing on New Year’s Day brought back memories of past times when playing on this day meant a great deal. Thanks to all that make this the best fan site on the net. Happy New Year and RTR.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

You don't want the be slapped in the face? Stop them.

Freaking pansy.
As a player I was personally more insulted when the opposing team played keep-away after going up a couple, potentially insurmountable, scores. I took that as “you guys aren’t even good enough to take seriously as a threat”. That was a slap in the face. I’d much rather you respect me enough to keep playing competitively even if a comeback is impossible. Players aren’t idiots. The Michigan defense knew in that moment on the field that Najee just whooped their butt 8 plays in a row or something whether he ran it into the EZ or not.

What Cameron McGrone doesn’t realize is that Saban gave him a chance to redeem himself on that drive and stop the TD. That was respect. But maybe I’m just overly competitive.

No clue, but I suspect Saban lit a fire under everyone during halftime...
Having to "light a fire" under a team at halftime who'd already proclaimed they were coming into this game to "set the tone" for the 2020 season bothers me. It really does. After the embarrassing way our defense played all year you would think they would be knocking mouth pieces and jock straps off the opposing team. But, it appeared they weren't that motivated. The post game interview with Coach Saban sounded exactly like he had to chew their butts out for lack of effort. If that truly was the case that is simply pathetic.

Regarding the game. I know this Bryce Young kid is supposed to be able to walk on water, heal the sick and raise the dead. But folks, Mac Jones is becoming a helluva quarterback that can absolutely kill you with downfield/deep passing. He's also tough as nails and will stand in the pocket and deliver a ball knowing he's about to get lit up. Personally, I fully expect Tua to announce he will turn pro when he makes his announcement Monday, January 6th. At that point I have full confidence that with the big games he's now played in and considering his performances in both. That Mac Jones will development into an absolutely touchdown throwing machine by next September. As the announcers said today, he will continue to get better and better the more he plays.

After watching the second half. Here's what I think this team needs to improve on to win a title next season and I can sum it up in two words- GET MEANER. Not "Leaner", but "MEANER". I'm becoming more and more convinced that our problems are more mental than physical. As that second half progressed you could tell (especially Najee Harris) somebody got ticked off enough that the team decided we're about to bury this team. I'm not sure if it's this group of players or something has changed in the coaching philosophy. But this Alabama program needs to get its "mean streak" back. Show up ticked off and leave ticked off. If we would have played the first half like we did the second we would have shutout Michigan. No questions asked.

I'm excited about Bryce Young signing with Bama, but it's exceedingly rare that a QB can play well as a true freshman. I would love to see Mac lead this team next season and Young take a year to learn under Mac. Young's time will come. This game could also be the catalyst for propelling the team to do great things next season, just like the Colorado win in 2007 helped lead to the success in 2008 & 2009, and the Michigan State win helped lead the team to success in 2011 & 2012.

Coach Saban said in the press conference that they decided to stop playing base defense (remained in base most of first half because of their personnel groupings) because it put too many young players on the field and that Nickle gave us more experienced players plus flexibility with what they were doing even if we played smaller than them. It was the difference in the first and second half.

Michigan had 5-6 players who were having a lot of difficulty taking Najee down........ I imagine their pride was bruised badly, since they consider themselves other teams’ betters

There with you, brother. Anyone who still has their Dad, spend time and savor it.
I lost my Dad on 10-13-05. He was a huge Bama fan. I sure hate he missed what is going on with the program since the arrival of CNS. He would have loved it. RTR Yes if you still have your dad, spend as much time as you can with him.

Yes, but Saban also said that this was possible because Michigan stopped playing their 2 TE sets, which they used for most of the 1st half. This allowed Alabama to establish an edge, which stopped the UM run game. Even Harbaugh talked about it after the game. You take what the defense gives you until they take it away. Rinse, repeat. UM didn't do that. They got cute.

Football is a pretty simple game in its most basic form. Blocking and tackling. In the first half UM played with 2 TEs and dominated the LOS. In the second half they played with 1 TE and tried to spread out Alabama. That helped Alabama get its best unit on their field, but UM did not adjust back to what Alabama does not defend well.

I would say that UM was outcoached by Alabama in the second half, but I really think that UM outcoached themselves. They made an adjustment that they didn't need to make. They failed to recognize their mistake (or were to stubborn to admit it).

Alabama still wins without that, but it probably would have been closer.

They got caught thinking their talent was equal to Bama’s. What shows you the difference between good and great coaches is that you adjust when Plan A isn’t working. I thought Harbaugh would switch back after a couple of failed series but nope. He kept trying to figure out how to get that pesky square peg into that round hole.

I'm unclear on one rule violation. The roughing call for pile-driving Jones was legit without a doubt, although, as you might expect, the UM fans don't agree. However, what I keep seeing on their boards is that, prior to the PF, he intentionally grounded the ball because he wasn't outside the tackle box. Thoughts?

The ball was past the LOS and there was a receiver in the area (though the receiver was about 5 yards away). Could have been called. I was glad that it wasn't.
