I share your frustration since being the QB expert that I am I think TS looks to be the one with the most arm talent.

Put it this way, the problem I've heard about has nothing to do with "arm talent." It seems to have to do more with "maturity" to me, which (*if true*) kinda surprises me since he's a coach's son.
Gotcha, I think I can fill some blanks in on that. I think Mac Jones "suffered" from that as well before he figured it out. The problem is, as it relates to this season, we don't have time for him to "figure it out". We need an upgrade now. LOL!

Didn't Simpson come from a small high school in Tennessee? Still find it strange that a coach's kid mighty have a maturity issue. But what do I know.
Yes, Martin, TN. Not sure about the classification, but Martin is a small town.

Right! On both counts regarding MJ and TS!

Concerning MJ, he reportedly had a bad temper and would get mad about a mistake and had trouble letting it go. I think Sark nicknamed him "Mcenroe."

Yes, the OL pass protection was bad. Yes, the Texas DL did a great job.

Milroe isn't checking out of a play or changing protections though. Also, the RB's can't stand their ground on blitz pickup.

Maybe getting Milroe out there was one of those (see, I told you) moments from Saban.

I still don't think Buchner starts vs USF, but I'd love to be pleasantly surprised. If he plays, I hope he takes care of the ball and checks out of bad matchups.

Still has me worried that Milroe won the job, so I'm not sure what to expect behind him.
Why does Nick Saban need to be playing “see I told you so” games with his own players? He’s the friggin head coach. He has been for 16yrs. He has 6 NCs. The starting QB isn’t a negotiation or a team vote. That is simply a disastrous way to run any organization. I refuse to believe that Saban puts players in a position where he doesn’t think they will succeed or where he thinks others would better succeed, and then lose big games over it so he can say, “see, I told you guys this wouldn’t work out well!”

Seems to me that the froghorn D sold out to contain and pressure Milroe knowing his slow decision making would give them the advantage. Our O line had a poor showing but it was exacerbated by that fact. Then our play calling nailed us. Where were the designed QB runs? Many, many times Jalen could have taken off running and picked up first down yardage or more but he tried to pull a Bryce and search for an open receiver instead. That is not his game.
I saw a couple designed QB runs called, but I think only one of them was really successful. Texas was spying and JM didn’t actually create much with his legs on those plays.

I keep seeing posts talking like Simpson should be acting like a redshirt jr or something. The kid graduated hs early so he could enroll and go thru spring training. So he's only gotten 1 extra spring training...and it was behind BY and JM. Then last fall was the same (only with BoB). Idk if the kid can play, is in his head or just ain't no good? I do know some people are more gamers than practice freaks. I did see him throw a nice pass or 2 last year in mopup duty. Would love to see him get a chance in meaningful snaps.

I’m still gobsmacked that there was no QB change in the game. They can’t all have the same skill sets. The horns probably game planned for JM. If nothing else it would have given them something else to look at and might have disrupted their flow — sort of like Tua did to UGA.
Post-game, Saban said if Milroe hadn't led that quick drive for a TD in the third quarter, there WOULD have been a change. Fool's gold, I guess.

If Simpson or JM go, they go. There is obviously some reason why Simpson isn't in the top 2 QBs. Maybe, he can create value for himself somewhere else. I find it difficult believe that CNS would decide to "sabotage" Alabama football and his legacy by not playing Simpson who is "the best" QB according to fans.
Brian Burgdorf fans. I remember them.

Thing is, we just do not know what the coaches are seeing in practice. Heck, from what I have seen Lonergan is the gamer. Get that kid some reps this weekend! But again, small sample size and not sure what he has shown the coaches at practice.

This is exactly what I'm thinking. I feel like we're projecting things on the coaches and team while we try to make sense of the game.

Do we really think Saban would not play the QB he thought gave us the best chance to win the game?

My personal opinion on why Jalen started these first two games? I think Saban looked at all three, and felt that there wasn’t a “significant difference” in terms of the ability to win with them. Each may have something different to offer as it relates to skill sets, but if “push comes to shove” he each possesses enough of the things they were good at to win.

So why Milroe? Tenure. He was the “next man up” last year and nothing had been shown by the others for him to say “Sorry Jalen, I have to go with the other guy…” . I think the “won the team” thing may have cemented in CNS’ mind the Jalen was the right choice. Saban does have some faults, and sometimes loyalty in one. (See one Pete Golding)

Just another gut feeling: I believe if truth was know, Buchner would have been Rees choice to start. I go back to his comment about “not being the one picking the QB” in fall as a way of saying “but if I did I know who it would be”.

I know it has been discussed a lot but it seems Jalen is being asked to perform skills that do not match his skill set. It seems we were running an offense Sat. night that would fit Buckner or Simpson better.

That's the rub and complaint many have....not so much who's better but who fits better.

I know Buchner on paper doesn’t compare to our recent run of QB’s we have gotten use to.
I think what he does bring is stability, experience and familiarity with Rees’ offense.
It’s my opinion those are intangibles that can’t be measured, and given the talent on hand, may turn out a lot better than some are thinking.

Let’s see what happens guys. Roll Tide always.

Saban’s overall demeanor is interesting. When he gets all kinds of animated, it’s usually because he feels like the team isn’t putting in the work and/or has a sense of entitlement.

He’s not doing that now. He’s kind of loving on the team and talking about development. Which tells me he feels the main issue is talent, not effort. And that the situation is in no way limited to QB.

No inside information whatsoever, but I’m expecting some new starters on both the OL and at QB. Maybe the DL.

I mean, what‘s going to happen….our OL gets blown up? QB gets sacked and throws a bunch of interceptions? The pass rush doesn’t get within 5 yards of the opposing QB? We already have all that.

Whether it would be worse with some backups taking over, I don’t know. But USF is a good time to experiment.

Ty Simpson will be a very good QB somewhere hopefully here because the young man has it, I seen him in highschool throw a dart from his on end zone rolling to his right and hit a receiver in stride at the 50 ,talent is not the issue, I heard from over this way in West Tennessee what the problem is but of course I can't elaborate
